FULL TIME – Wigan 0 vs Villa 0 – Gabby starts and Captain

What is going on in training ? Already Clark out and now more doubts.

This is a vital game as we all know and it appears we will be having some injury doubts

FULL TIME – THANK GOD

90 – SEVEN mins extra time

85 – A few half chances for both but game meanders on

76 – Bent in real trouble after an awful landing on his ankle, coming off for N’Zog and bad injuries pile up. If this is ligament trouble may struggle to play again this season

73 – Positive change – Ireland on for Gardner

70 – Yep Heskey on,for Albrighton – Don’t know what your doing from Villa fans

64 – Now cuellar booked for kicking the ball away, how can there have been 5 bookings in THIS game

62 – Slightly opening up and hutton becomes 4th Villa to get a booking

55 – few Wigan corners, defended well, thats it

49 – Gabby booked now, three bookings in a nothing game

46 – From a freekick Cuellar has a free header and should have scored, more energy to the team

16:02 – SECOND HALF kicks off no changes and Villa out very early, a bollocking ??

HALF TIME – It is not like we have been poor and created a little but the whole game is abysmal to watch. I always say that pace is the key and this game has none at all. If this continues then may struggle for 100 words for a match report never mind 200 !

39 – A corner to villa and cuellar heads wide, thats it

35 – Collins booked and can not say just how dreadful this game is

28 – Given is looking uncertain as Albrighton gives a freekick and gets a yellow to the danger man Moses

22 – Is anyone going to tackle ? Slow, ponderous, Keane looks most likely for us. good game for Gardner and Bannan to play

16 – Nice passage of play and Warnock put through but shot in side netting

14 – Bent clear and should have scored, good save but should have been put away

8 – All Wigan now and far too slow from Villa but a Keane bumbled shot goes wide on a counter attack

3 – Looks a simple 442 with Gabby and Albrighton left and right, early pressure from Wigan through Moses

15:01 – Kick OFF

14:57 – about to kick off with one of the most inexperienced midfields we have had

14:10 – So no one would have guessed that team eh ? It looks attacking and against Wigan lack of defensive cover not so vital. We wanted the homegrown players to start and three of them are os up to them to show it.

14:03 – TEAM

VILLA: Given, Hutton, Collins, Cuellar, Warnock, Albrighton, Bannan, Gardner, Agbonlahor, Bent, Keane.

Subs: Guzan, Herd, Ireland, Heskey, Baker, N’Zogbia, Weimann

simple 442 and N’Zog is the sacrifice for Gabby to return, very inexperienced central two and no Ireland. Gabby is captain.

13:37 – further confirmations that Heskey will start and it is likely that Warnock could have to play central midfield with the injuries

13:00 – With Clark, Delph and Dunne already out news came through this morning that it is unlikely Petrov will play and Gardner has a knock as well. you do have to query why now we are having these injuries like last season a lot in training. After his trip to the States are we training like NFL players ?

So it may well be that Herd is chucked straight in and with some info that Heskey could start the team could be anything. Added to this that Gabby is carrying a knock I do hope that we start off fast.

  1. what a absolute load of rubbish, this was a must win for us. Mcleish and Lerner OUT!

  2. struggled badly against the league’s worst team, somehow worse than us. Pathetic. Does Mcleish know what motivation is? apparently not. something needs to change before we go down. We need to battle when we have no battlers, we need skill when we have no confidently skillful players, and we needs goals when we have no strikers on form. sounds like relegation material to me.

  3. That was the most boring game ive seen in a long time. I cant believe how pathetic McLeish is leaving N’Zogbia and Ireland out.
Shows he is petty as MON, If he stays we are going down.
Blackburn will beat us at Ewood Park as we have a bad record there.
We will draw at home to Fulham and draw against Bolton.
we wont win another game this season.

LERNER OUT, FAULKNER OUT & MCLEISH OUT

  4. Gabby was absolutely awful. The worst player on the pitch. Who’s bright idea was it to make him Captain?
Great no strikers now, Keane back to LA, Bent out for a while.
Got to put up with Agbonlahor or no goals Heskey.
I would play Delfouneso or Weimann

    • Gabby was shit?
You prick, u weren’t even at the game.
The guy isn’t fit but ran his socks off for the full 90 mins.

  5. This is all down to Lerner, stopped investment, crap manager, what does he want us to go down get this Yank out of our club now.

  6. Poor game, so so poor.
Wrong choice in Capt, Gabby is thick as pig shit and giving him the arm band…..
    Mistake after mistake, after mistake.

  7. be thankful for small mercies, I could see villa losing this one. The pattern of play is awful, but with the lack of options it was difficult to see how that back 5 would not concede a goal. So I take a clean sheet and a point as a gain. WIth an inexperienced midfield and another difficult but vital away game next week, this was welcome

Wonderful this squad is never going to be. But survival is the issue, then look for changes at the top. THis cannot continue. No one will watch it next season.

    trevor fisher.
