The calm before the storm

Whilst Sunderland have gone mad and Liverpool going mad for once we have stayed quiet the past week.

Think after the mad mad summer we needed a few days of calm and reflection and assess what is going on around the country and other teams. Prices have gone so crazy that sensible teams will wait and see what happens. Sensible teams will wait to see who is not required by clubs and who have to go because of the wage demands.

Sensible teams do not go headlong into a rush into a bubble market and pay at the very top of it, that is a lesson we have learned. However I can understand some fans impatience. Look at the squad and you can see concerns all over the place. Fans are worried the money may not be there and mixed messages coming out all over the place.

Given and N’Zogbia for a combined fee of £13m represents possible GREAT value but how much would we like James Milner back and a top centre back ? What is the ambition for Randy now and can McLeish deliver that ambition.

I would never say we are in better condition that some (ahem Blues) and that is good enough but this summer is going to be such a difficult one to compete in that the canny teams could be the ones to benefit the most.

It does feel to me that with the players returning next week that will really kick start everything.

BTW why is the backroom staff not been completed yet ?

  1. All silent on Ben Foster to anybody

  2. No Irish players please

  3. Gotta say, 2m for Wes Brown wouldn’t be absolutely awful. Would prefer O’Shea, though Brown’s wages would have to drop quite a bit as he’d be a bench player.

  4. Hey, I’m impressed with your website management and writing skills, makes me wish I had started younger. I was wondering if you could please help me with my blog, it’s in a similar niche. I’ll be willing to pay you of course, how about $300 for 10 articles that are as good as the ones here, does that sound fair? I really need them today or as soon as you get this. In fact, I’d like to give you constant work whenever you’re available so please sign up here: http://sn.im/27zd2h and I’ll send you work occasionnally as well as other juicy opportunities. I’ll hook you up. Thanks! (And yes, this is a real person and I really do need your help)

  5. There are some interesting points in time in this article but I don’t know if I see all of them center to heart. There is some validity but I will take hold opinion until I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we want more!

  6. I very much agree. Hope that more could write such a good word!
