Wembley Ticket UPDATE for FA Semi Final

Well here we go again.

Just to confirm that based on last seasons semi final we will get slightly more tickets than for the Carling Cup Final at around 32,000.

The full details will be released on Thursday 11th March but the prices are likely to be around £10-25 lower than the Carling final, so probably between £25 and £60 (link for Man U last season).

Before people start to panic again it is worth remembering for the Carling final the ticket distribution went to people with a 5 game history and it is likely that a number of season ticket holders will not go for the tickets due to cost, time and not being a final. I would not mind betting it goes on general sale to anyone with a booking history.

The game is likely to kick off either on

Saturday 10th April 17:15

or

Sunday 11th April 13:00

My best guess is that we will be the Saturday game as for TV our game is the more attractive game and the Saturday slot is for ITV the better one for advertising revenue.

Ticket competition is WRONG

Under Randy Lerner’s reign I have little to be unhappy about in the main they have got most if not all of the major decisions 100% correct.

However their competition just announced is WRONG in many ways. It is not right that 100 tickets (50 pairs) could go to anyone with a 10 year booking history, the criteria should simply be the next people in the queue based on booking history.

Already a fair number of the 31,000 allocation does not get to what I call ‘normal fans’. A number of other areas get the tickets

- Players as we saw by the Nathan Baker incident, probably 400 tickets

- exec box holders (should get one per box as per season ticket holders) but they I have heard get 10- maybe 1000

- club employees, 2 each, probably another 1000

I have no gripe with these getting these tickets but they come out of the 31,000 allocation which means after season ticket holders get their share maybe only 1500 for sale afterwards, depriving these people of 100 tickets is unfair.

Too late now for the club to change it’s mind but I hope they will learn a lesson from this because this is proving to be a very unpopular decision, even with the likes of me who have supported the Lerner regime 100% from the start.

Wembley ticket details for non season ticket holders

After season ticket holders have took the allocation of Wembley tickets Villa have announced the following detail for sales of tickets on priority sale.

This seems very fair to me to include the earlier Carling cup games and this should satisfy most people. the estimate is that there will be around 1500 tickets available

Official Site Link

Monday February 15: On sale to supporters who have a 12+ home booking history (including either Carling Cup fixture at home to Cardiff City or Blackburn Rovers). Matches played in the 2009-10 season only

Tuesday February 16: On sale to supporters who have a 10+ home booking history (including either Carling Cup fixture at home to Cardiff City or Blackburn Rovers). Matches played in the 2009-10 season only

Wednesday February 17: On sale to supporters who have a 7+ home booking history (including either Carling Cup fixture at home to Cardiff City or Blackburn Rovers). Matches played in the 2009-10 season only

There will always be those unhappy at the allocations, there will always be the odd person whose fair claims are ignored but what else could the club do about it, cater for the odd person out of thousands, just not possible.

Nathan Baker caught selling Wembley tickets

The excellent website – The Stirrer – has broke the story that Nathan Baker the young 18 year old defender, currently on loan to Lincoln was caught selling Wembley cup final tickets on his facebook page

Each Villa player gets 10 tickets for the final and he was boasting of selling tickets for up to £200. He is young and looks a bit of a idiot for this but Villa’s and his response is perfect. Shows under the new press spoekesman Brian Doogan we are far more savvy.

The club’s Head of Media Brian Doogan said, “We’re talking about an 18-year old boy who’s made a mistake – that’s what has happened”.

“Nathan said, “I wish to apologise unreservedly to the fans for my actions. I appreciate that it is a privilege to be part of Aston Villa Football Club and one day I hope to play in the first team, but I understand that my behaviour off the pitch must speak as loudly as my actions on the pitch.

“I have been informed by the Club that I will no longer be receiving any tickets for the Carling Cup final and, while I will be sorry not to be able to cheer Aston Villa on at Wembley, I understand and appreciate that it would be inappropriate for me to have these tickets given my actions.”

Hope Nathan learns a valuable lesson from this and do what other players do and be less public about selling their allocation off !

The panic of the pack (Wembley tickets)

Today as from 9AM as most Villa fans know is when we can go and purchase our tickets online for Wembley. So in theory all 27,000 season ticket holders can go on line and buy their tickets.

However on reading the forums there is a sense of panic over this with the online site crashing due to demand and too many people panicking over this.

STOP PANICKING

There are enough tickets for us all to go around, you will in time be able to get whatever ticket you want. Being the first to get a ticket will not mean you get the best seats (all seats at Wembley are excellent) and no one will miss out.

When I were a lad (well for the 94 final) I queued for 6 hours at the ticket office to get a ticket (season ticket holder) this time you can but almost at any time through three different methods, so NO need to worry, calm down, breathe a bit and stop being soft !

You will get to Wembley.

Hurry, get your tickets, selling out fast

According to a couple of posters on Villatalk only single seats left in many areas of Villa Park for the Carling Cup 2nd leg next Wednesday.

One poster (Sellyoakvilla) spoke to the ticket office staff and they quoted that only 2500 tickets left for the game in Villa areas but may get returns from Blackburn’s 6000 allowance.

So get in there quick there may not be many left by the weekend.
