England U-19 – Full Time – England 1 – France 1 – Fonz starts – England go through
In a game England have to win to Qualify at half time against the French we are 0-0 but France have been dominant
From a Villa point of view Nathan Baker has been dropped but the Fonz starts and has done well with whatever service he has had and surprising he is on the wing but has caused problems and forced one of the few saves.
Weimann starts for Austria who are out of the competition.
On 52 minutes Fonz gets clear from a good through ball and the kind of chance he normally puts away, under pressure he put wide.
Unfortunately for the Fonz, his miss was crucial as a few minutes later France went 1-0 up
The Fonz in the latter stages has had a couple more efforts as England as it stands press for the equaliser that will see them through as Holland are losing
And England through Phillips in the last minute scored to send England through to the semi’s to face Spain (who will win comfortably) which is good news but means that the Fonz stays away for a few more days.
His performances actually have been good in the group stage but whereas I have seen him to be very clinical he has wasted chances to cap the performances.
England disappointment for Fonz and Baker
Disappointing news for both Nathan’s that England U-19′s lost 1-0 to Holland in France needing a likely win against the exciting French to qualify for the later stages.
Both did OK and the Fonz had a clear goal ruled out for no apparent reason.
Both played OK but there was a gulf in quality between the more skilful Dutch and the physical English.
Euro U19 Champs – Austria 2 – England 3 – Baker, Fonz and Weimann start
The U19 tournament has started in France and England with Nathan Baker and the Fonz are beating Andreas’s Weimann’s Austria 1-0 with a goal from West Ham’s Nouble.
Baker has started well with the Fonz contributing well and looks like he has baulked up
Will update as the action goes on
Nouble scored a 2nd from a through ball and a decent finish
HT and England in full control, slow pace due to the heat and Fonz done fine with his running and Baker solid. Weimann for Austria has been starved of service to show us anything
2nd Half and after a few scares England concede a goal to Austira with a fantastic free kick from the Austrian star Alaba. Weimann with a great ball nearly set up an equalizing 2nd if not for a great save.
Tom Cruise restored the two goal advantage from a corner after the ball hit Fonz from a Baker header and bounced to him.
Austria scored a good second from outside the box from Trauner.
Full Time and after some pressure England won and the Fonz and Baker can be very happy at their contributions. Weimann worked hard and set up one good chance but mainly played on the right.
Villa’s England promise
After what we saw in South Africa it is clear that we need changes in the England team and I believe we can provide a quality team for the near and medium future. Lets look at the players that could do this in order of quickness of chance and notice just how many there are.
Milner – Well his claims are now obvious and still a Villa player. I do not need to tell fellow Villans of his qualities and for me he is a the perfect and better replacement for Lampard who should be retired from international football ASAP
Ashley Young -Goes without saying he should have been in South Africa, I mean what does SWP or Lennon offer more. Of course he can play the left hand side very wide and very hard working. Why Fabio overlooked him we may never know, he will get another chance but hope it is more than he has had before.
Downing – Natural left footer and one of the few Englishmen around should mean once he has a proper pre season in him and hopefully a good start to the season he should get into the squad quite quickly. I have to admit I have yet to warm to him but he will get time because of hi injury and he has to show he can create and score more because we did see glimpses of what he can do. He must be able to see what a great chance of a permanent England spot he has.
Gabby – Well he splits the fans but I love him. Each season he has got better and stronger and hopefully by the first England game he is leading the Villa line and scoring goals. With his qualities of pace and strength and he does finish well he ha a chance alongside Rooney but should be in the first squad if he starts well.
Warnock – We at Villa are blessed with English left sided players and Warnock obviously went to the WC but more of a default when Baines was homesick. Now Cole for most is the number one pick but lets face it he is an idiot and could blow up. The London press will go the untried and untested Gibbs at Arsenal who is not first choice there but Warnock is a good solid fullback. He gives his all, often gets injured because of it and has a very good delivery, should be in the squad at least.
Delph – Delighted we brought him, saw in games at Leeds and comparisons to Gerrard for me were not unfair. We saw in spells last season before the injury the quality of vision, passion and drive he does have and he can shoot. A player we have not seen at Villa Park since Dennis Mortimer. I am convinced without his injury he would have played many games a the end of last season and been a regular for the start of this season. As long as the injury is fine, he could be pushing for a spot in a years time.
Delfouneso – Really talented forward who can score and link up play, a new Teddy Sheringham maybe ? In the few chances he had last season he scored against all levels of opposition and looked quality. At England levels he has scored goals, poacher goals and here is a prediction. IF MON actually plays him in the league next season he will score and he could be a surprise inclusion in the usual end of season friendlies.
Albrighton – For me the best of all Villa’s prospects. I saw a few reserve games and the limited action he saw in the first team and especially the peace cup proved he has it. He can score, he has pace, he has a trick and he has a fantastic cross. He for me is everything we want from a winger and more, he should be playing 10-20 games next season and a regular the season afterwards, if so he will be in the England squad.
Clark – Strong leader at levels for England and his country. Just had the one appearance last season where against Fulham he impressed a lot. He is now ready to step up and become Villa’s 4th choice defender, we can sell Davies because of him. Whilst he may not make an impact for 18 months or so when he does he could be the strong classy centre back that england are crying out for
Other names to watch out for in the long term are
Gary Gardner – classy centre midfielder who scores
Elliott Parish – good solid keeper at the u-18 world cup
Rob reflects on England, does not make good reading
England’s World Cup is over after yet another embarrassingly shite display
GERMANY 4-1 ENGLAND
Yes, we were robbed of a CLEAR goal when Lampards shot hit the bar and bounced down at least 3 feet behind the line. It was 2-1 to Germany at the time, and an equaliser just before half time MIGHT have made a big difference.
BUT………
England didn’t deserve to win; they were spinelessly fucking awful. Even our own James Milner was average at best. As has been the same story in the previous 3 games it was our supposed “big name” players that disappeared quicker than a pound coin on the floor outside Sty Blandrews.
John Terry – went missing leaving Upson to do the work of two, and lets face he he aint that good.
Stevie Starfish – if he was any good he’d be able to play well IN ANY POSITION. Scouse wanker didn’t have a shot on target and preferred shooting to passing to team mates.
Lampard – best of a bad bunch today, robbed of a goal, and at least his efforts were on target, apart from free kicks that hit the wall of course.
And of course Shrek Rooney – Mighty Shrek……..Englands golden boy, best player in Britain, no THE WORLD according to some.
Thick, ugly balding scouse cunt – 4 games, no goals, no invention, no class, no hope, no fucking idea.
“He isn’t fit” squeal his bumboys. WHY IS THE CUNT IN THE TEAM THEN????
All the stupid fucking TV ads with his ugly mug on, bumming him up to be the greatest thing in football. Fucking embarrassing.
Still I bet he won’t be too bothered. Plenty of Liverpool slags to spend his “hard earned” on isn’t there?
And Capello – 3-1 down and he sends HESKEY on? The epitome of a fucking impact substitute he is NOT.
Time for most of this collection of clowns to hang up their international boots. Capello might also be a shout for a golden handshake.
Thank fuck the England “media frenzy” is over for another couple of years. All the sad old wankers in England shirts and cropped JJB pants can all take the England flags off their Vauxhall Astras now, and save them for our next embarrassing flop.
Milner HAS to play for England against Slovenia
After today’s disaster performance against Algeria it is clear that Fabio Capello needs to make drastic changes for the nest ultimate MUST WIN game against Slovenia.
My team for this game would be
Hart (james will be dropped for what he said after the game)
Johnson, Dawson, Terry, Cole (no choice really but Terry has gone and if we had options should be dropped)
Barry
Milner Gerrard Cole
Rooney Crouch
We as Villa fans know how magnificent Milner was last season, he won all the Villa awards going plus the PFA young player of the year. He was by common consent from most neutrals one of the most impressive players last season and on form players simply HAVE to be picked for England.
Milner we know gives his all for the cause, he would never let you down and hi quality in picking out players in good positions and having a very good cross would be perfect for the team.
No way should Milner be on the sidelines next game, he is better on form last season than at least 6 players that played this season and that is what all the other decent teams would do.
Up to you Fabio !
Heskey starts for England against Algeria
England team just announced and Emile Heskey after a good performance against the US stays in.
James,
Johnson,Carragher,Terry,A.Cole,
Barry,Gerrard,Lampard,Lennon,
Heskey,Rooney
Algeria are poor and should expect an easy win and who knows Heskey could score !
Mixed fortunes for the Villans but well done Heskey
So Milner had his chance for England but clearly looked like the effect of the virus was still with it and he did have the embarssment it has to be said of being subbed on 30 minutes. James time will come again though and this should make no difference to his English future.
However Heskey was flaming brilliant, not only was he England’s Man of the Match but he set up one goal, should have scored another when clear on goal and another header just slightly above his head. Throughout the whole game Heskey was a total pest, winning balls, harassing the defenders and generally creating all the space for Rooney who was very poor today.
If only Heskey could have goals to his game he would be a world beater.
Record VILLANS going to World Cup for England
The England squad has yet to be announced officially but through leaks it is clear that we will provide three players out of the 23
James Milner
Emile Heskey
Stephen Warnock
Congratulations to all of them and for making Villa history when in the past for England our maximum representation has been just one player.
For Warnock who has yet to start for Capello this must be a shock to be in over Leighton Baines who appeared to be the reserve left back.
Heskey, despite what some Villa fans may want was always going to go because he plays so well with Rooney.
Rooney – Last 10 games with Heskey – 9 goals
Rooney – Last 10 games without Heskey – 2 goals
and of course James Milner will be a Villa player over in South Africa and has been a certainty for weeks.
Milner Starts for England and has a decent game, eventually
Still Aston Villa player starts for England tonight against Mexico at Wembley
Green
G.Johnson, Ferdinand, King, Baines
Walcott, Gerrard, Carrick, Milner
Crouch,Rooney
He appears to be starting on the left and I am sure he will have a decent game to help seal a starting place against the US in a couple of weeks or so.
Whether we need him to have a decent game from a Villa point of view is a rather mute point.
EDIT: appears Milner is playing central midfield over and above Gerrard, Capello really does rate him
However has to be said that Milner has been average at best and playing too deep when compared to Villa
2nd half Milner had finally looked better moved to the left and showed much better for the performance as the whole team seemed so much more balanced. His natural position at international level should be as the supporting attacking midfielder.
Villans for England
Great news that in today’s provisional England squad that Milner, Warnock and Heskey made the squad.
It is certain that Milner and Heskey will be going and likely that Warnock will be going, so congratulations to all three.
The surprise was the inclusion of Warnock over Baines because frankly Warnock has been poor recently bu6 Fabio has seen beyond this and for the first 7 moths of his Villa career he fully deserves it.
Milner puts down another England marker as Delfouneso scores on his debut
It took 75 minutes or so to bring him on, much delayed but within the first touches he pulls off a fantastic pass to Baines and then took the return pass for a fantastic shot to set up wright-Phillips goal in a comfortable England win.
It is bemusing but a relief to us that he never started but he is no right or left back cover for England and surely the time is right for Lampard in particular to be dropped for Milner. Milner is ready to start for England in fact he is a future England captain.
Very disappointing though for Warnock and Downing not to get a few minutes though at this stage you wonder what was the point of picking them.
However there is no doubt and not been for a long time now that Milner will be on the plane to South Africa in June and if Capello is brave enough he will start and then be a world star.
Earlier this evening good news for Nathan Delfouneso as he scored on his England U-21 as sub in a 2-1 defeat. Nathan looked comfortable after coming on and just added to his growing reputation. It has to be said it was not the hardest of goals a tap in after the a shot was parred but he had to be there to score it and that is natural goalscoring instincts.
England Squad announced – 4 Villa players included
Stewart Downing, James Milner, Emile Heskey, Stephen Warnock have all been included in the England squad just announced for the Egypt friendly on Wednesday.
Good news for all of them and clearly all have an excellent chance to go to South Africa.
Really disappointed for Ash Young not to be in the squad, he is on form, he is creating and playing well, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Theo Walcott are NOT is form and NOT being picked regularly, this goes against what Fabio Capello has said before and he is being shortsighted on his picks.
England U-21 Call up for Nathan Delfouneso
Excellent news for Nathan Delfouneso as he is called up for the first time for the England U-21 squad.
Along with Fabian Delph he is in the squad for the Euro Qualifier for the match against Greece at the Keepmat stadium on Wednesday 3rd March.
This is a well deserved call up for Nathan hopefully he will learn from the experience and get some minutes on the pitch.
Petrov to face Milner in 2012 Euro Qualifiers
Draw for the 2012 European Championships i Poland/Ukraine has just taken place
An intriguing draw for all Villa watchers as Villa’s Bulgarian Captain Petrov, has been drawn against England which could comprise a fair few Villa players in the squad and I am convinced by then Milner will be a starter for England
Group G
England, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Wales, Montenegro
Gabby watch for England
I was very surprised after Milner was sub on Saturday to see him start from the bench but delighted to see Gabby get his start.
After three minutes Gabby showed how he has improved from a good pass by Barry he had the pace to take it forward and a bit of a scuffed cross and an untidy finish by Crouch meant Gabby already justified his place.
Then after 21 minutes Gabby gets set free and showed some poise and obviously pace to get a shot on target, good stuff from a player who 7 months ago was getting booed from the villa ‘faithful’, they should be embarrassed.
It was a decent first half from Gabby but it is true to say that England are not sure how best to play to his strengths and down the channels with his pace and power. As I continued to watch the game the mystery was how SWP can be picked on the left instead of Milner.
The second half left off where the first ended, very low key but Gabby at least produced something after an hour which got a corner which led to the SWP goal. Then luckily for us came off nice and fit and ready for Chelsea.
Gabby can be happy with his nights work done his chances no harm at all with one assist and a bit of power running to get the corner for the 2nd goal.
Finally after 75 minutes Milner got on, as LEFT BACK !! hmmmm
Well deserved England call ups
It is looking likely that tomorrow we will see an England team with Milner on the left and Gabby playing up front alongside Crouch.
This is just reward for both players who have started the season off very well and it shows that Fabio
Capello does reward good and consistent performances in the league.
Milner on the left is of course not his ideal position but in the friendly against Holland showed a lot of promise and some very good delivery. I have never made it a secret how much I admire Milner and his professionalism and for one of the nice guys in football he has deserved this.
Gabby as we know had a rocky end to the last season but in the summer despite the England Under-21 tournament he somehow managed to baulk up really well and this season, well he has been the star of the season. Despite the increased bulk he has lost none of his speed and the bulk has meant he can now hold off players who are very scared of his pace and he has really impressed.
What of course we hope from a Villa perspective is that the usual disease of an England call up does not strike and their performances go downhill.
