Delph picks up ‘serious knee injury’ in training
Sky whilst doing the team lineups announced that Fabian Delph got a ‘serious knee injury’ in training.
This is very bad news for Fabian and lets hope it is not as bad as it sounded
Young guns fire Villa to 5th round of the FA cup
First to say a great thanks to Villa and Brighton to agreeing to a such a low ticket price of £10 and £5, great crowd of nearly 40,000 and so many kids in Villa colours. Fantastic support from the Brighton fans and showed the cup romance is still alive if the price is right.
You would have read elsewhere about the game and it showed that the reserve strength in depth is so much better than than it was 12 months ago. The first half was lacklustre and Brighton deserved their draw at half time. However for the second half we stormed it and could have been 6 or 7 with Delph very close to a hat trick and Delfouneso nearly scored a fantastic 2nd goal. However it seems Warnock may have picked up a hamstring injury and you have to feel for Albrighton who set up the first goal with a great cross to only then pick up an injury, the whole ground felt for him, he was shaping up to have a very good game.
However we saw the future of Villa today. I firmly believe our future is tied up with the likes of Delph, Delfouneso and Albrighton. In fact if everything goes well I can see all three playing for England because I rate them that highly. Add to them the likes of Clark who could also play for England, Milner and Ash Young and in two years time I almost can see that team actually challenging at the very top.
It always dangerous to predict the future of young players but what we saw today showed that if nurtured right, with the right attitude they can become top class Premier and maybe international players, all that is required is patience from the fans.
Fabian Delph’s goals
Some are rather special
Welcome Fabian
News Just broken that Fabian Delph has offcially joined us for a reported fee of £6m plus add ons.

Fabian Delph
This is a very good signing for the future of Villa and I welcome the signing with great euthasiam and look forward to seeing him play. I firmly believe we have a star in the making.
One of his first quotes is
“There are a lot of young English players here, an absolutely superb manager and this is the club I’ve chose to play for so hopefully I can do well.”
Yet another piece of positivity for the club.
Thanks Ken Bates
Those are words I would never have said before today

thanks Ken
However it appears for once cuddly Ken deserves all the credit for holding to his words in face of enormous money waved at him by Man City. The story is that we bid for Delph some while back but were told by Ken only £6m plus addons. However we were not prepared to pay and waited but Man City and possibley spurs showed interest and actually bid higher, but once we bid what Ken had said we could have Delph for the extra money did not matter but Ken’s words to us.
Hence Leeds’s statement today praising us because we never made our interest public we never speak about targets. It may infiruate some of us bit Aston Villa deserves a leadership of the upmost principles, honour and diginity and we have it.
Fabian Delph Villa Bound for Around £7m
The Official Site have now confirmed that we have had a bid accepted by Leeds United and we are now allowed to speak to the 19 Year Old left footed midfielder.

Heading to Villa
The fee is being reported at around £6-7m and no news if Nathan Delfenseuno is going to go the other way on loan as it is rumoured.
The OS also said
A Leeds United spokesman said the Yorkshire club: “Wishes to place on record our appreciation for the honourable manner in which Aston Villa has conducted their interest in the player.
“Leeds has resisted approaches from other FA Premier League clubs since agreeing terms with Aston Villa.”
This is the professional way our club acts with Randy and MON in charge and quietly with dignity and stealth we get the job done, for some a little slow !
This was a link rumoured in the winter transfer widow and like with Downing paitence has been rewarded.
What does Delph bring, for me when I have seen him the comparsion to Steven Gerrard is very relevant he has a terrific shot and range of passing but is still a little hot headed. However for me he is one of England’s brightest talents and I think in two years time the money will be come irrelevant has his value will have ballooned by then.
Welcome Fabian !

Delph, Villa or Everton ?
A lot of rumours today that Fabian Delph will be leaving Leeds and that we are favourites to capture his signature.

We are favourites to sign him
As regular readers of my blog will know he is a player I have always wanted, He is a top prospect and exactly the type of young emerging talent we should be looking to spend a large amount on because he could save us a fortune in the future. On top of that being a young player means is more likely to want to play and position wise at his stage of development will not matter as much as time on the pitch.
Things are starting to ramp up a lot now and the players return to training on Thursday.
