Good Luck Freddie

Dave Woodhall’s information was spot on but it appears mine and others interpretation of the news was incorrect.

Today Villa announced that Bouma would be allowed to leave Villa Park on a free, no indication that he was ready to pack it in which is very good news.

Let me pay a tribute to Freddie, before the horrendous injury nearly two years against Odense he has just played a very good season and looked one of the best in the Premier League. Defensively he was very good and was improving game on game in the attacking part of the game. After a rocky couple of years where we thought he was too overweight under MON this was turned around and he became a cult hero on the Holte End and this was very well deserved, the extension of his contract due to the injury showed the high esteem he was held in at VP.

So good luck Freddie in the future and

BOUMMMMAAAAA !!!!!!!

Is a statement on Freddie due

According to Dave Woodhall on H&V a statement is due this week on Bouma and ‘it is not looking good’.

Despite some reserve performances Bouma though he looked OK could not put a run of games together and the signs were not good after he picked up the toe injury around Xmas time.

This feels like the Laursen announcement int time for the last game of the season where we can say our goodbyes.

Freddie is a whole hearted player, always gave us his all and the joy on scoring his only goal against Newcastle two seasons ago will not be forgotten. Players like Freddie are rare, he left his heart on the pitch and despite his rocky injury plagued season he never lost the faith of the fans, few players can do that. It is so unfortunate we lost Laursen and Freddie in such a short space of time.

good luck in the future

Freddie’s return as Villa beat Chelsea as Weimann stars

A very encouraging first game back from Bouma as Villa reserves won 3-1 against a neat Chelsea side and strengthened the lead of the Reserve South League.

Very much like the first team we played on the counter attack and after a early scare when Chelsea ht the bar we took the lead when a strong Weimann shot was only parried in by the Chelsea keeper. A few minutes later Villa were sloppy at the back and conceded a soft goal. For the rest of the Half Chelsea dominated but Villa looked dangerous on the counter attack.

2nd half started scrappily but a fantastic overhead kick from Clark put Villa into the lead and we looked comfortable from then on and Weimann the top scorer sealed the game in the last minute after he won the ball.

The main attraction of the day was of course Bouma, he looked slim, reasonably fit and there is definite hope he can play his part in the full team, hope he recovers OK. However the stand out players were Clark at the back who was resolute and snuffed out all Chelsea’s attacks. The other player was Weimann who every time I see him is looking more and more the real deal and a top class prospect

Future stars for Villa but day belongs to the returning Freddie.

Villa reserves vs Chelsea reserves – Full Time – 3-1

FULL TIME – Very good win and excellent return for Freddie

then Weimann wins the ball, passes it to Hogg who squares it back to Weimann to seal the game

Saying that Bevan is forced to make a good save

Comfortable end from Villa in a decent game to watch

From the free kick Davies has a header saved by the goalkeeper

Davies gives a foul away right on the edge of the box, from the resulting free kick Villa broke to get their own free kick at the Holte End

Forrester on for Delf

On a break Delf shows his pace but delivery let him down

Chelsea miss a golden chance to equalise

Lichaj shoots wide, overall very quiet game for Bouma, perfect recovery

Villa GOOAALLLLL – Clark with a Gary Cahill scissor kick from a corner

Very poor half so far, no pattern and disjointed

Villa free kick, Clark over

2nd HALF

Half Time – 1-1 but Clark misses a clear header at goal. Davies looks fit enough, Weimann playing very well but the good news is that Bouma appears to be running free

Chelsea keeper makes a save from Davies

guiding header back from Bouma to Bevan after a dangerous Chelsea cross

Delf twists and turns and shoots, deflects for a corner

James Collins booked

Hofbauer wastes a great chance

Kakuta looks a class above, set up a chance there

Hofbauer shoots way over but Bouma looking slim but obviously lacking sharpness

James Collins just heads over

Chelsea playing the better football it has to be said, Villa very dangerous on the counter

Chelsea goal – Strickland from short range

Villa Goalllllll – weimann with a great shot but weak Chelsea keeping

Game kicked off and with a few minutes, Chelsea hit the bar

Very interesting game at Villa Park tonight (7PM KO). The all conquering Villa reserve side takes on a young and talented Chelsea side but from our point of view the return of Wilfred Bouma and the continued recovery of Curtis Davies is the main interest tonight.

The team is

Bevan,

Lichaj, Bouma, Clark, Davies,

Roome, Hogg, Collins, Weimann,

Delfouneso, Hofbauer.

Substitutes: Forrester, Carruthers, Roberts, Williams, Simmonds.

Updates will posted as the scores come in

Freddie returns !!!

Tonight’s 1-1 draw against Wolves in a reserve game at Villa Park marked a significant milestone in the season for Villa. In the reserves two quality players made their comeback from two very different absences.

Luke Young after a calf injury and the unfortunate death of his brother played his first full 90 minutes since the end of last season. His return marks a significant increase in the squad depth and quality in defence.

However the best news was the return of Freddie Bouma after his horrific injury 15 months ago, he got through the whole 90 minutes, put in some solid tackles and though looked tired at the end as you would expect. Time will tell if he suffers any bad reaction to the game but the fat he played 90 minutes was against my personal belief in that he would never make it back.

I am so delighted for Freddie because he is a fighter and leader on the pitch and if he gets back not only gives us so much quality competition for left back but will increase squad morale as he has shown guts and determination to get back.

A good news night.

Excellent News on Freddie Bouma

From MON in the Express and Star on Freddie’s inclusion in the Peace cup

The manager said: “He is back training. He is pretty happy with proceedings and it’s just taking a bit more time.

“He had that setback but seems to have recovered from that.

“I reckon he might be back some time in August, but please don’t hold me to that.”

The return of the big man

The return of the big man

Welcome back Freddie, this is really uplifiting news for the club, fans and team.

Bouma to Retire ?

Sad news in the Mirror today that Freddie Bouma has gone to Holland to think about his future.

Is Bouma to retire ?

Is Bouma to retire ?

This unfortunate news comes of no real shock and I wish him well in whatever descion he comes to over the summer.

EDIT : 20:15

The OS have just published a story that refutes the Mirror story above and I really hope it is true but my information states the struggle will be a long one if successful and we have to plan for the whole of  next season without him.

“My rehab is going great and I’m in good spirits.”

He told www.avfc.co.uk: “I have been doing rehab work for two weeks now and things are going really great. To read newspaper stories with that sort of speculation is really frustrating for me because it’s progressing well.

“I have had a lot of calls, even from my friends in Holland, asking me about the stories. When people read things like this, some believe them. But things are going really well.

“I have to build up slowly now – some walking and general strengthening. I hope to start jogging during pre-season.

“There is no real hurry. I don’t want to rush back. It’s got to be right. There’s no set date for my comeback but it’s looking good and I’m in good spirits.”

Good luck Freddie !!!!
