Match preview and reaction

Weimann shines as the reserves beat Walsall

MON tonight sent out a young reserve side to Walsall as Villa came away with a 2-1 victory at the Bescott cheered on by 3000 Villans in a crowd of 5,700, way above Walsall’s league average.

Andreas Weimann who is very highly rated by a lot of Villa reserve watchers and said by a coach to be the Austrian Alan Shrearer. He cam up with two typical peices of goal poaching to seal the friendly win. The first goal was set up by a storming run by Carew and the second from a parried cross by Albrighton. In truth Weimann should have had a hat trick but hit the post from a yard.

All three of the exciting youth prospects were heavily involved all game and Albrighton is now making a very strong claim to start against West Ham with Weimann and Bannan on the bench with of course the Fonz to come back in. MON has to be brave and buy no player who would block these exciting and very talented youngsters.

A word for Carew in these pre season games, he has started well and lasted well, his back injury appears not to be troubling him and I hope he can just keep it up, time will tell.

FULL TIME : Walsall 1 vs Villa 2 – Weimann (2)

As reported on the Mail’s website, Sidwell is in the squad for fitness reasons but apart from the obvious exclusion of Milner should be a fairly strong team

KO 19:45

Interesting team news

Friedel,

Beye, Collins, Davies, Shorey,

Albrighton, Reo-Coker, Sidwell, Bannan,

Carew, Weimann.

Subs: Lowry, Clark, Lichaj, Parish, Hogg, Salifou, Cuellar.

Clearly a semi reserve side with just two what you call first team starters

Very good to see Weimann start after a disappointing Under 19 tournament and Albrighton starts yet again, he must be a real chance to start the season

================

Game kicked off late at 19:51

Bad news already as three minutes James Collins is replaced by Carlos Cuellar still carrying an injury

Villa have started reasonably well, playing 4-4-2

The reserves have created some chances, Carew missed a couple

25 mins – End to end game, Albrighton and Bannan doing well, Villa filled nearly two sides at the Bescott.

26 mins – Good Carew run sets up wunder kid Weimann to nod home, the Austrian Shearer !

Albrighton, Weimann, Bannan playing really well, got to pushing for PL starts sooner or later

HALF TIME and satisfactory outing and Carew and the kids have impressed with their drive and energy, the quality of these kids should not be under estimated by any Villa fan as often happens.

20:53 – 2nd HALF kicks off, Lichaj and Lowry on, Beye and Shorey off, now the reserve side :-)

started off the half and once again Albrighton at the thick of things

18 mins and after further pressure and woodwork hit at both ends Villa score, Albrighton’s cross is parried by the keeper and the Austrian Shearer poaches another one

Subs – Davies and NRC replaced by Clark and Salifou

Subs – Albrighton and Freidel off, Hogg and Parish on

28 mins – Nicholls scores for Walsall

Some late Walsall pressure

FULL TIME and a useful workout for some of the squad players and kids and Albrighton, Weimann and Bannan have done themselves the power of good

Video highlights of the Boh’s game

Hat Tip : H&V

Here are some highlights of the Boh’s game today

things to note

we look leggy at the back and Dunne mentions they were much sharper, got to remember our programme is designed for August 14th not now. Some fans have mentioned some players look a bit ‘heavy’.

cracking cross from Albrighton

the massive Villa support there both from Ireland and Birmingham, well done everyone

Bohs vs Villa – eyewitness report – reality check

‘Genital grinder’ posted this on the match thread and good to have a report from someone who was there and not from the OS.

Results now do not matter of course and people have to remember this is all prep work for the season in a months time.

I just got back from the game.

The game itself was played like an end of season game or even a pre-season friendly…because that’s it all it bloody was!!!!! League of Ireland teams are not that bad, I was very surprised Bohs were so well beaten by TNS, plus, they’re half way into their season and a lot fitter. And despite all that Villa pretty much dominated from start to finish.

As for the players, Ashley was lively all game, Gabby was OK, Downing was alright in the centre but crosses weren’t great, Lichaj made one great run forward, very pacy, Carew made a difference when he came on, Albrighton should probably be our right-winger this season and Bannan also looks like a promising player, the rest were average/solid.

It’s all about getting up to fitness and that’s all it was, anyone moaning and complaining about this result is being ridiculous.

A few signings, and give the likes of Bannan, Albrighton and the others a chance, and we’ll be fine.

DISAPPOINTING : Bohemians 2 vs Villa 1 – FULL TIME – Albrighton is the one for the future

Before people get themselves uptight about this result, it is only a friendly but against a Bohemians reserve side and a side got beaten 4-1 by TNS.

This is a disappointing result because we had two sloppy goals against the run of play and dominated the whole game, created chances but did not take them.

Problem is, it showed the same old problems and why the new signings must address them

To leave it with the following from extratime.ie the 3ummary and just confirms what I thought about Albrighton

Bohemians 2 – 1 Aston Villa
90′ – Full Time – Is all over here as Bohs win 2-1. Villa fans shouldn’t get worried yet as these are only pre-season friendlies and the transfer window is still open. Martin O’ Neill will need to buy a few creative players but I think he has gem in youngster Marc Albrighton who looks livley. Will he get his chance this season? Who knows. Thats it from at Dalymount Park.

=====================================================================

Team has been announced and interesting

Friedel,

Lichaj, Dunne, Clark, Shorey,

Albrighton, Petrov, Reo-Coker, Downing, A Young,

Agbonlahor

Could be a 4-3-3 or more likely a 4-5-1, the position a lot of us want and the team I almost want with no new signings. Good to see Clark get a start and Lichaj at right back instead of Cuellar.

Randy is at the game.

Usual updates on Villa’s OS and this one from the Irish standpoint

Kick of at 15:03 and Villa straight on the attack

15 mins – as you would expect all Villa and created a fair few chances, loads of Villa fans there showing their support for MON

20 mins – Shock as Bohemian GOAL as Friedel makes a complete hash of a clearance and Powell scored

30 mins – suppose you could say typical Villa, total dominance as you would expect but simply can not put chances away, Gabby has had two of them and then a stupid goal

HALF TIME – Disappointing for Villa as we never turned dominance into goals and an howler gave Bohemians their goal. It should be noted that this is a Bohemians reserve side as they played against TNS earlier this week and lost 4-0

2nd HALF – Carew, Beye and Cuellar on for Gabby, Lichaj and Clark

on the Irish feed

kid was also asked who their favourite Aston Villa player was. I think it was a wind-up but she said James Milner, which was followed by a chorus of boo’s from the Villa fans.

Of course the OS not mentioned this !

62 mins – much of the same, Villa attack but no goals

65 mins – Osbourne on for NRC

69 mins – GOAL finally breakthrough as Albrighton crosses for Carew, Bannan on for Downing

80 mins – Bannan making an impressive appearance forced the keeper into two saves, Hogg on for Petrov

85 mins – Madden scores for Bohemians another sloppy goal

FULL TIME – 2-1 disappointing defeat

Villa vs Peterbrough – Full Time – Peterboro 2 – Villa 3 – Young, Carew, Lichaj

So it is likely the 1st team will at least start tonight against Peterbrough for the start of the pre-season friendly run outs.

The interesting question will be the formation as we have only two forwards at the moment presume 4-5-1/4-3-3

I will be updating this page from the very good Villa text service and in summary saying what is happening

Some big players starting, Young, Downing, Carew, Collins, NRC

Team is

Friedel;
Beye, Collins, Dunne, Lichaj;
Albrighton, Petrov, NRC, Downing, A Young,
Carew

Subs: Lowry, Berry, Bannan, Collins, Forrester, Parish, Hogg, Osbourne.

As I said had to be 4-5-1 and note Downing’s possible position. Note Lichaj at LB as Warnock still not back due to England. Where is Gabby ?

this is a formation many of us wanted

From ‘Gaztonvilla’ on VT

Gabbys twitter said today he had sore hamstrings so that’s probably why he’s not around tonight.

This is believed to be Gabby’s true twitter feed

Kick Off Time – 19:45

0-1 – Ash Young chips the keeper from 20 yards

1-1 – Davies scores for Peterbrough

1-2 – Carew backheels in from a Young cross

Even first half overall a couple of good saves from Brad and Young dangerous just behind Carew, which is where I would always play him.

2nd Half – Parish on for Freidel

1 -3 – Lichaj scores an header from a corner

Lowry on for Collins

2 -3 – Lee for Boro

Bannan for Young, Osborne for Petrov

Hogg for Albrighton
Collins for Carew
Berry for Dunne
Forrester for NRC

All over and sounded like a decent runout, which is all you ask for pre season and half the squad missing or still to come !

A report from Villa’s victory in Hong Kong

From the Hong Kong standard

Seems Harry Forrester has done very well in the last few weeks and this tournament and after spending £1m as a 16 year old from Watford he seems to have lost it, at 18 it is looking very positive for him.

Aston Villa won the HKFC IP Global International Soccer Sevens for a record fifth time with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Glasgow Rangers in front of a near-capacity crowd at the Hong Kong Football Club.

Striker Nathan Delfouneso put Villa ahead after just three minutes and midfielder Marc Albrighton added a brace to stun Rangers who had entered the final without conceding a goal.

Rangers captain Andrew Shinnie pulled one back from the spot on the stroke of half-time and added a stunning second soon after the break, bringing his tally to a tournament-high eight, to set up a dramatic finale.

“We knew they were very strong in midfield, but we felt we could get at them down the wings,” Villa academy manager Bryan Jones said.

“Marc and Nathan have also been to the Soccer Sevens before and that counts because seven-a-side is completely different. You can play in the Premiership and still struggle in this form of football.”

A brace from Albrighton and a goal from Delfouneso gave Villa a 3-1 win over Ajax in the quarter-finals, while Harry Forrester was the star of their 3-0 semi-final victory over West Ham United.

Shinnie had a brace in both their 2-0 quarter-final win over Celtic and 3-0 semi-final victory over Sunderland.

Ajax beat Celtic 2-0 in the Shield final, while KFC Tokyo defeated the Andy Cole Jura All Stars 2-1 in the Masters Cup final.

Hong Kong 7′s – VILLA WINNERS

Good news from Hong Kong today where we beat

Quarter Final – Ajax – 3-1
Semi Final – West Ham – 3-0
Final – Rangers – 3-2

We have now won the last 5 out of the 8 Hong Kong 7′s tournaments, which is a great testament to the quality of player we do produce.

RESULTS

A report ftom HK Villan on H&V indicates that Albrighton, Fonz, Siegreist and Clark were the stars of the tournmament.

The squad was

Ben Siegrist
Ciaran Clark (c)
James Collins
Harry Forrester
Marc Albrighton
Andreas Wiemann
Nathan Delfouneso
Durrell Berry

Hong Kong 7′s, Delfouneso to star

The annual tournament starts this weekend in Hong Kong and traditionally we have done very well in this tournament which we won a couple of years ago.

The tournament features names like Ajax, Rangers, Celtic and a small club called Birmingham City ?

The group stage we have Southampton, Eastleigh and Yau Yee League Select

All results and details here

Villa’s team is traditionally the younger reserves but we have included Nathan Delfouneso, Marc Albrighton and Ciaran Clark and stand a very good chance of regaining the trophy.

Carew waves BYE as we lose a nothing match

Got to be totally honest, at no point was I ‘up’ for the game.

In fact I have never felt so non plussed for a game since the DOL years. It seems from the funeral atmosphere at VP that everyone felt the same and the guys behind just talked about the election all game which says it all really.

On the pitch the players hardly seemed bothered and lets face it is nice to be above Liverpool but whether we finished 5th, 6th or 7th is actually inconsequential. the attitude just seemed to be to finish the season which lets face it was finished last week and you have a feeling a few players had played their last game for Villa.

Hence the title.

You know I am no fan of the con artist called Carew and despite his goals this for me was the 6th game running he had a stinker against defenders who battled against him and not fall away. Hence on about 70 minutes when he was subbed and applauded all the ground o his way out I certainly got the feeling that was goodbye.

I did not stick around for the ‘lap of honour’ but I read and was told he was waving in many people’s view goodbye. I will be one of the few who will not be unhappy at that.

9 months gone quickly, all over now, we can reflect on a season of progression in many areas but today showed the same old fault of not breaking down teams at home and that is what we must correct.

Over to you Randy and Martin.

Sad times – Last game of the season

I hate the last game, season over, no more visits to Villa Park for weeks, usually we have great weather but not tomorrow !

At least we have something to play for, 6th place and an outside shot at 5th. Some fans have decried 6th place again but we have had an increase in points and can not help if others have improved quicker. However to finish above Liverpool and shut up your glory hunting fake scouse mates must be something with wanting ?

A positive bit of team news is that Andreas Weimann is going to be on the bench some of you say he may not get a chance but I have seen enough reserve team football to know that Weimann is a massive talent for the future. He has for his age great strength a fair turn of pace and a natural goal scoring nstinct and is only 18, he can in my view go all the way.

We know what the team will be tomorrow so lets hope with pressure off against a team with nothing to play for in front of a full ground we loosen the shackles and put on a performance for the fans to remember at home because that is where we have struggled for certain.

Lets not hope it is the usual end of season fare !

Battling VILLA lose Youth Cup final to the better side but can be very proud of them

A battling very young Villa side went down to a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge to lose the FA Youth Cup semi final 3-2 on aggregate.

Kofi Poyser opened the scoring for Villa in the first half with a neat header but frankly the older Chelsea side were classier and two well taken goals put paid to Villa

However Villa fans, Tony McAndrew and Sid can be very proud of the young lads from a group of youngsters obviously missing the outstanding player in Gary Gardner for most of this cup run.

Less said about the Chelsea TV commentators the better !

FULL TIME – FA YOUTH CUP FINAL – Chelsea 2 – VILLA 1 – POYSER

This is the second leg after Villa drew 1-1 in the first leg

Reminder – away goals do not count

Villa team

Siegrist, Berry, Deeney, Devine, Williams, Blythe, Carruthers, Nelson-Addy, Poyser, Simmonds, Roberts. Substitutes: Johnson, Barrett, Halfhuid, Darkin, Dyer.

==============================

98 mins – FULL TIME – Villa lose in a final again, heartbreaking for the kids, we matched a supposed much better side all the way

96 mins – bad injury to Chelsea player with more extra time

90 mins – 4 mins extra time

88 mins – Halfuid on for Blythe and Chelsea hit the bar twice, the first another top quality save

84 mins – But Siegrist could do nothing about that shot

82 mins – world class keeping from Siegrist

77 mins – things settled down but Roberts booked for a clear foul

71 mins – Darkin on for the injured Williams and gone straight up front

66 mins – Chelsea now deserve to be level but looked offside from a cross but how I hate these commentators and the scum Terry and Cole in the crowd

63 mins – Chelsea shoot over

60 mins – Finally some pressure from us and two corners, but how much of these Chelsea commentators I can stand I can not say. There is bias and then there is this crap, Jack Woodward, mate after listening to these clowns you are Martin Tyler in comparsion !

52 mins – Another clear Chelsea chance missed from a corner, relentless pressure

50 mins – All Chelsea, lucky to still be in front

SECOND HALF KICK OFF – no changes

HALF TIME and despite Chelsea pressure Villa lead 1-0 thanks to a Poyser goal which was a well taken header

37 mins – Chelsea with most of the play to be fair

31 mins Poyser just scored with an header to put Villa 1-0 up

Villa lose reserve FINAL on PENS

A fantastic game of reserve team football finished 3-3 at full time, however we lost 3-2 in the penalty shoot out after poor pens by Collins and Fonz were saved and Albrighton hit wide. This was a thoroughly undeserved result for the Villa kids who deserved to win the title.

Villa totally dominated the first 40 mins and should have been 3 or 4 up but had to settle for 1-1 after the Fonz scored a good finish (after missing a simple header) and Man U equalised towards the end of the half.

The second half was fantastic stuff with Villa taking the lead twice through the Fonz and Clark on 86 mis only for a Roome slip to let in Diouf for the usual last gasp equaliser.

MOTM was Weimann and even though he did not score he was always dangerous.

Match thread here

RESERVE FINAL – Man U 3 VILLA 3 – The FONZ(2), CLARK – Man U win on Pens

RESERVE TEAM FINAL at Old Trafford, can Weimann fire Villa to the 2nd consecutive title

VILLA’s team is

VILLA: Marshall; Roome, Baker, Clark, O’Halloran; Albrighton, Bannan, Hogg, Hofbauer; Weimann, Delfouneso. Substitutes: Forrester, Bevan, Osbourne, Bradley, Collins.

Man U’s team is fairly strong

Foster, Rafael, Dudgeon, C Evans, De Laet, Gill, Stewart, Possebon, Diouf, Norwood, Macheda. Substitutes: Wooton, Zieler, Pogba, Obertan, Keane.
=============================================================

MAN U win 3-2 on penalties after Albrighton, Collins and Fonz had theirs saved

FULL TIME and penalties and a very good game which Villa should have won comfortably

90 mins – Fonz spins and shoots wide, 3 mins extra time

88 mins – typical Man U late goal by Diouf, bad defending by Villa – Roome

86 mins – great move and Weimann’s shot deflected for a corner

83 mins – another corner, another Clark header but this time no goal but then justice as clear Man U pen turned down

81 mins – GOOAAAALLLL Villa’s captain Clark scores from a corner after Foster flaps

78 mins – Marshall gets away with a flap as Roome hits the crossbar but then Villa break and Weimann shoots wide

73 mins – Albrighton’s cross just a touch high

69 mins – Hogg should have done better after yet more great work from Weimann and blasts high

66 mins – Marshall saves well from Diouf

65 mins – we look shell shocked by that decision, Hogg NEVER touched the Man U player

61 mins – NEVER A PENALTY as Hogg apparently touched a Man U player, penalty slotted away by Macheda

56 mins – Weimann blazes over but he is showing the kind of quality that we should see in the first team soon

54 mins – fantastic work from Weimann to set up the FonZ on a plate

50 mins – Man U shoot straight at Marshall, very good start to the half

49 mins – Villa dominating as Hogg shoots over

47 mins – Weimann forces a great save, he looks the business

46 mins – Weimann shoots wide

SECOND HALF – James Collins on for Nathan Baker, injury

HALF TIME – Villa started brightly but Man U did not deserve the equaliser, however the Fonz’s first chance was a sitter, his goal though was very well taken.

44 mins – Man U’s pressure tells and Diouf equalises

42 mins – Man U more in the game Marshall has to make saves after our goal

35 mins – couple of Man U free kicks, not troubled Marshall

31 mins – First attack on Villa’s goal and Marshall saves well

23 mins – GOOOAAAALLLL, Villa’s domiance pays off as Bannan feeds the Fonz who scores

17 mins – all Villa

12 mins – Guess who, yes Albrighton causes more trouble, the Fonz heads just over

11 mins – Albrighton once again causes problems as a cross is just out of the forwards reach

8 mins – Clark gets onto an Albrighton corner but fails to hit the target

5 mins – Villa on the attack and Albrighton fires over

KICK OFF

£75m and £400k a week is the difference

That is all it was today.

The three City goalscorers cost that much to buy (70% of MON’s total spend) and their wages are astronomical if press reports are to be believed. The difference today was marginal an clinical finishing, one moment Carew should have scored but he never and they took the chance at the other end.

That as we have seen all season is the major difference between us and the 4th spot, the missed chances and the lack for want of a better player, Bellamy. He has something that our main players like Milner, Young, Downing and Gabby do not have, that devil instinct, the one Rooney has, the one all teams have. We are too bloody nice, look at Carew, 6ft 5 and should be terrorising people, we don’t.

Look at today we played well, we contained Man City and caused their defence serious problems but Warnock made a serious mistake and Freidel for the first time showed his age with the penalty by being too slow, Guzan would have saved that for sure. The second half, City sat back we attacked but the final ball quality was not there and it cost us obviously. It cost us more seriously though against Wolves and Sunderland though and is the area MON has to address and he should, MON should stay.

2006-7 10th
2007-8 6th
2008-9 6th
2009-10 6th

yes we could finish 7th this season but we have never been closer to 4th and the days of Brian Little’s two 4th are totally different to now, 4th place for CL has changed that.

the big question when you look at the annual report is whether we have the resources to try for that special player, which means a wage of £100k a week and £20m transfer.

That is the major question this summer.

SEASON OVER – MAN CITY 3 – VILLA 1 – CAREW

Game needs no introduction, every game this side of Xmas has felt like a must win game but this is the ultimate one. Even though a draw on the face of it is a decent result it actually does not help us. Our record at Man City away is very poor in recent years but this season we have broken a few hoodoo’s so who knows.

Villa unchanged team from the one that started against Blues

=================================================================================

SEASON OVER – but we gave it all our all for today, no complaints from me nor should there be from any Villa fan

90 mins – We played well but the inevitable goal on the breakaway happened

82 mins – Young gets free but woeful cross

74 mins – Tame Milner shot, Downing at LB

72 mins – Game is very tense now, Heskey and Fonz on for Carew and Gabby

65 mins – good save from Freidel

63 mins Veira should have been booked there for a blatant trip on young who is now struggling

61 mins – Villa having possession without doing much with it

55 mins – great Downing cross but Young makes a meal of it

51 mins – Villa have pressed and Fulop looks shaky

47 mins – first shot from City, easy save

2nd HALF KICK OFF and Villa are out very early

HALF TIME – We started well, scored but frankly looked comfortable until two Warnock mistakes

45 mins – Petrov booked

41 mins – rubbish defending by Villa after Carew should have scored but hit the crossbar, then City went down the other end and scored, Warnock at fault again

40 mins – Warnock mistake and clear City pen and Friedel really should have saved that one

38 mins – with a deflection, Milner’s shot goes wide

37 mins – Collins with another immense block, defence is playing so well

30 mins – Penalty shout against Warnock after Tevez smashes one at his arm, never a pen

26 mins – great counter attack and Downing oh so wide

23 mins – gabby breaks through and Kompany booked for a crude challenge on him, Milner’s free kick causes problems

21 mins – and a great start so far, Man city pressure but no real chances for City, they are set up perfectly for us

16 mins – CAREW scores after a great through ball from downing, great finish

14 mins – some City pressure, defended well, yet to get going up front, Carew is very static today

10 mins – an attempted cross deflected and Friedel had to save

7 mins – Villa get a little cocky in defence but tame shot saved by Friedel

3 Mins – quiet start

KICK OFF – COME ON VILLA

Villa Team News – UNCHANGED, Man City – Barry out

Team has now been officially confirmed as unchanged from the Blues starting line up, no surprise there.

Friedel

Cuellar
Dunne
Collins
Warnock

Young
Milner
Petrov
Downing

Carew
Gabby

SUBS: L Young, Delfouneso, Guzan, Beye, Sidwell, Heskey, Reo-Coker

Big game today for Carew in particular maybe one of his last in a Villa shirt and we need a huge performance from him.

Most nervous I have been for a game all season, this means more than any other one

Man City team news for what we care is Garath Barry is out after speculation of an injury, good news for us that Viera is playing I think.

Another City, another win, we dislike teams in blue

Well the season has flown and the second best away team in the country face one more trip, to a tough venue to win what we all know is, yes, those words, ‘a must win game’.

We all know the situation, we all know what is required and what a draw or defeat means. what we know is that Villa should go out there, attack from all angles because nothing less than goals will win this. City obviously have all the talents up front but at the back with Young’s and Gabby’s pace they are very vulnerable to conceding and we know that we will score.

It means in many ways more to City, they spent so much money this season anything less than a win is a failure, the fans, players and management all know this. That pressure at home at this stage of the season can do funny things to teams and can give teams like us with nothing to lose unexpected wins.

That is what I hope of course, we hope that finally a home win against the Blues will show that we have a chance and all the players should be totally committed and desperate to win. Of course on both sides we have players in Dunne and Barry for which this game means even more than the actual result.

But for our magnificent travelling support after having spent thousand’s this week forget Barry, concentrate on the game in front of you everyone of our players needs your 100% support you always give.

As for me, stream finding time !

Beat the Blues yet some still moan

Was it a penalty ?

First reaction for me was that it was nailed on. Seen the incident since and yes Johnson got the ball but the touch was light and Gabby still had a very good chance and Johnson brought him down. Clear pen and to see the Bluenose’s whine after what the said about us and Wembley is rather hypocritical !

We never played well today bt that does matter, who that matters is the result and those three critical points means with for us two games to go everything is to play for. Clearly today James Milner was the star and despite the fuss around him at the penalty he never looked up, strode up and hit it hard down the middle a total chance for his normal style of placing in the corner. The guy has ice through his blood doesn’t he ?

Should we mention the behaviour of Chief knuckle draggers Carr and Ferguson ?

However when I read this from ‘APYADG’ on H&V I really do despair

I spent most of the game wishing I’d brought a book. Another dire performance, reminding me why I’ve hardly been this season. I’m not going to bother again until we have a new manager.

Well how cares mate, I can not believe any true Villa fan would write this in a derby when 40000 fans went home very happy. I do wonder about what the Villa fans expect from the team and manager but maybe we should reflect o an all time record and 6 derby wins on the trot.

MON deserves time for what he has done and he deserves for this result and many others not to be barracked by our own fans.

I will always support him

Is this the most important home game in years

Well is it ?

It is against Blues, they know the pain of the 5-1 and will be trying their very best to make sure we get nothing from this game, 0-0 suits them down to the ground. The game against Blues no matter how some Villa fans disparage it it is always important.

However with the results today no one needs to be under any false impression, we have a great chance of fourth now. MON has took some unjustified stick this season but any Villa fan would have took the situation with three games to go we have a chance of being equal with 4th with a game against a rival (Man City not blues !!) coming up.

So when we kick off tomorrow at lunch time with the enormous potential of 4th just in front of us no one at Villa Park from the Villa point of view will not be aware of the importance of this game. The atmosphere as usual will be cracking but add the prize in front of us and you will get something special from the fans and players should leave nothing at behind and give all on the pitch.

We have had our chances before, notably the Wolves and Sunderland games we flopped and badly this is not going to be acceptable tomorrow. It is the most important home league game I can remember maybe even more than when we beat them in 2006 3-1 because the prize is just so important.

That would be applicable for any team tomorrow but it just HAD to be Blues didn’t it.

Rob’s PREVIEW – Inbred’s visit to VP

It’s that time again, when all Villa fans have to don rubber gloves and facemasks to avoid contamination – yes, small heath are visiting B6.
Now we all know it’s the biggest game in their history, the two games they play against us (when they are actually in our division), for us they are but a mere poodle turd on the bottom of our Premier League shoe.

Personally I don’t give a fuck about small heath the team – they are shit, always have been and always will be. They have had more luck than a bloke with two cocks this season. It’s their horrible, dirty, unwashed, knuckledragging, retarded, kiddy fiddling, web footed, sister shagging followers I can’t stand. If we beat small heath for a hundred games in a row, the Noses would still think they are gonna smash us in the next game. Thick as twenty planks they are. And they smell.

They have a repertoire of two songs – Wipe That Snot, and Shit On The Villa. That’s all we will get out of the pea brained morons. Only Millwall have a more reprehensible bunch of troglodytes as fans.
Yep, I’m not a fan of the Bordesley scum. In fact I’d like nowt better than if they went out of business, and left football in Brum to the class act that Villa have always been. But for now we’ll have to make do with taking maximum points frim the untermensch every season they are flukey enough to stay up.

Let’s have a look at some of their players (this should be fun)…..

In goal Joe Hart – on loan, and small heath can’t afford to buy him because they are so small time. They are already trying to loan him again next season. If you can’t afford to buy a player you shouldn’t be in this division you tossers.

In defence, three journeymen who have led a charmed existence this term, and Agent Ridgewell, who looks like he’s been bobbing for apples in a boiling chip pan.

Midfield – old bastards and rejects from poor teams and Scotland. And ex non leaguers.

Up front – Jizz Blob Jerome is their “saviour”, says how shit the rest are, and Choo Choo, the worst striker to play in the top flight for many a year.

If we don’t beat that load of garbage it’ll be a mystery the Large Hadron Collider team wouldn’t be able to work out.

Oh and let’s not forget new owner Egg Foo Yeung and his Charlie Chan Clan – I was sad when Filth Midget and Wolfie sold up, I didn’t know what I’d do for laughs. No need to worry though as the new lot are just as fucking comical. And all those plans of spending £40 million in January? They ended up with a sub standard Dago and Turncoat Gardner. Yes I forgot about him. I hope he’s prepared for the dogs abuse he’s going to get from all corners of Villa Park. Lying bullshitting fuckwad.

So bring ‘em on………and here’s to another three points!

Lets look back – Aston Villa 5 Birmingham City 1

Well the big one for many of us is close, some Villa fans call us that think this is a major game small minded but for me living in Birmingham and many others, this game is the yearly chance to shut those from the other side up.

Therefore after a disaster when they returned after mistakes, cock ups and plain right disgraceful performances. So if I want to reflect on the game for me it is the one that put things right, the one we will always remember.

Bare facts

20th April 2008

5-1

goals from Carew (2), Young (2), Gabby

So almost two years to the day we can reflect on the best day at Villa Park possibly since the Tranmere game.

The whole day was perfect, from a unnamed pub (don’t want everyone to know it !!), great beer and company, good ride to the game, nice burger (seriously).

Then I stood up all game to watch a total thrashing from the first minute to the last, a game which made heroes of the 11, made sure the fiasco of 03/03/03 was put aside, a game which took the pain of 4 successive defeats all away.

It is easy to list all that went right but you felt in the ground the first derby under the new era was different we have hope, desire and a total belief in all of us.

After the game took ages to get out, did we care, heck we did, one massive party, carried on into the pubs around North Birmingham and around the club the whole season.

It means that much, always did

Dreaming of 4th again, supporting teams in RED on Saturday

Yep, this time last week it was all over but now two wins away from home, in games we should win and going into Sunday looks better when you consider who our competitors are due to play on Saturday.

This was not the best performance but like on Sunday all that matters is the win and now got the best away record in the league.

Dunne and Collins were immense at the back, we played the right counter attacking against Hull who did not have a sniff after a very bright first ten minutes of the second half. MOTM for me is clearly Gabby, vital first goal and never stopped running all game.

4th place is still a possibility we have to believe on Sunday we can do it and today’s performance and 2nd win on the row means we have the confidence to get that position.

COME ON MAN U and ARSENAL
