So what will happen now that we have got to the end game of this season.
WE need 5 wins we have 11 games left, so the odds are against us. In my view it all comes down to QPR and Reading games 6 out 6 and probabaly survive, Any less and relegated.
We have improved the last few games but defence keeps on letting us down, it will go down to the last game of the season.
Ian may be worth putting an undecided in option in poll as that will prob be most popular answer. Up to you mate. Fwiw think we will be 3rd team to go after qpr and reading. All we needed was a half decent defender in jan and we would of stayed up.
Ian, you should add a “too close to call” option really, as that’s how I see it.
Given the choice of those two though, I have to vote “down”
nah you two, give a straight choice, we will either stay up or down there is no middle ground
Okeydokey, “down” it is
Up… What a stupid fucking question!
Why’s it stupid?
Sadly, not everyone is as confident as you Langford.
Ticked the “Polls” box in the tags section, Ian.
Down 100% sure. If you cannot defend, you cannot stay up. Simple.
I think up,cant see wigan doing it a third season.they played reading not the sky4.im no way chucking the towel in yet still 33pts up for grabs.keep the faith if not blind.
The towel hasn’t quite gone in yet Giddy, but it’s close.

Cheers for that anon,it’s nokia mail that was the problem.that was the info wordpress gave.ive gone back using gmail no probs again cheers for asking mate.
Glad you’re sorted mate.
I did look into it earlier in the week, but couldn’t help, as internet is shocking where I’m working.
Could you please tell me anon what a fucking cookie browser is as my phone keeps saying disabled.i’ll leave you alone then.
Cookie browser?
I don’t know.
I hate cookies, as they tend to track you and are invasive.
But not all the time.
Sometimes you need them for the best view of a site, so you need to go into your browser’s settings and set cookies to “allow”. It’s just easier mate, overall.
Just do a search for “cookie settings” with your browser name for more info.
Thanks mate,i’ll get on to it.
Down, down, deeper and down. League one football come 2014. We are following in Wolves path. Our club is the laughing stock of football
Its shocking how our owner has allowed this to happen what is even worse is the fact us fans have. Lerner is an arsehole who has lost interest in his toy
We have only won 5 games out of 27, now we require 5 wins in 11. It isn’t going to happen. We need more than a miracle now, it is coming up to 2 years since we last won back to back in the league, A truly pathetic statistic. There is no way on this earth we can survive, thanks for nothing lerner. Now clear off and never set foot inside our ground again.
For me it’s the nature of the lost points. We haven’t been a bottom 3 team in the last few games in terms of the way we’ve played, but it’s the brittle mentality that screams of relegation.
Can you imagine if we are 1-0 up against Wigan needing to win on the last day of the season? Every single person on this site knows what would happen when Wigan get a 92nd minute corner, and therein the problem lies.
I don’t think lambert deserves it. If we survive I think he’ll go onto be successful. I just can’t see it.
We are pretty much down already, no way will we finish above Wigan. I think the third tier by 2014 is a realistic possibility
the form says it all simple as that, unless there is a huge turn around and a big slice of luck i cant see us staying up. its possible but based on what ive seen this season i cant see it we’ve got a decent forward line but it ends there.
put it this way and you’ll have your answer if you are not sure, imagine you walk into the bookies tomorrow with a weeks wages, do you put it on villa to stay up or go down?
that will tell you what you really think, not what your heart says, money talks, ask randy :/
Too true, NM. I think that just about everyone saw in the Jan window that Lerner had thrown the towel in. We desperately needed quality and experience; a midfield guv’nor, and reinforcements in defence, and look what we got.
We’ll scrape the odd win between now and the end of the season, I suspect, but as Dan says, the idea that we can get five wins out of eleven with our recent record looks like pie in the sky.
I’ve got no more idea than anyone else of what actually goes on behind closed doors at VP. All I can say is that our esteemed owner, his muppet board and parrot CEO give every appearance of not actually caring about whether we go down or not, and there just seems to be an air of weary resignation hanging over VP. The extent of their incompetence and ineptitude has been absolutely staggering. What a bunch of total, utter mugs. Personally I can’t even get that worked up about it any more, I’m just waiting for the inevitable fall of the axe. For us to escape now would seem better than winning the Champions League to me.
I marked up and will stay up untill it is numerically impossible.2 wins in a row is possible and can be done.I will say up always up.
5 wins from 11, a tall order indeed, definately do’able but when we only have 5 wins from 27 this season it really does look beyond us doesnt it.
i really dont understand learner and co, the jan window was crucial even if he has lost heart just from a business point of view a bit of spending, even high wage players on loan till the end of the season would have been a small gamble compared to the returns from staying in the prem never mind the losses from going down.
This is what I don’t get either, NM, although heaven knows I’m no financial expert on football matters. The only conclusion I can come to is that some bean counter at VP has crunched the numbers and concluded that irrespective of how the club’s finances overall might be affected by relegation, purely from Lerner’s personal perspective, he won’t be affected that much. So from that angle, maybe he’s just not bothered whether we stay up or go down, hence the decision not to stump up the cash to get the midfield and defensive additions we so badly and obviously needed in Jan.
As I said, it’s just a personal observation, and might be wide of the mark. I’d be glad to hear from anybody with more insight who might reasonably be able to offer an explanation in terms of the practicalities of the situation, because I just can’t get a handle on matters otherwise.
Up up, always up. UP UP UP UP
i think you may be right david, if we were to go down and have a good season next year the club would be on the up, attendances would be up and spending would be up beleive it or not.
would good form in the championship with villas following would be better finacially than another poor season in the prem? us pushing for promotion in the championship would see higher gates than us struggling in the prem not to mention other sales along with building a team that can compete in the prem on little money with lower fees and lower wage demands.
if so its a big big gamble, like ive said before ive got two words for anyone who thinks it may be a good think for us to go down…………………’Coventry City’ ;/
Yes but the attendance money is peanuts compared to the money coming from the new TV deal, it is a huge financial loss, there is no hiding from that.
Oh and just look at Wolves for those that think it is easy to bounce back or Bolton, who stuck with their woeful manager Coyle (also flavour of the month like lamberk was) and then had to sack him when they were in the bottom 5/6 of the championship.
If Lamberk stays, I am 100% sure we will be in Wolves/ Bolton position next year. Third tier football would be realistic possibility with lamberk. Worst manager in our history and one of the worst in top flight football history.
I don’t quite know where you get the five wins from eleven from, we are on the same points as Wigan and one ahead of Reading.
QPR have gone for me, and I can’t see either those sides winning every other game.
Reading looked awful, and Wigan blow hot and cold.
Our games against the three of them, plus Sunderland, Norwich and Stoke are huge.
If we can get something against Citeh or Liverpool, that’s a bonus. Would have been a big point on Saturday to stay out of the bottom three.
I say UP. Dead right the three matches against Reading, QPR and Wigan are massive. We can definitely win those. Not expecting anything from Citeh match – except an even worse goal difference! But against Liverpool, we can win or draw. Likewise the matches against Sunderland, Norwich and Stoke, we could achieve 7 points from those three. If we pull that off we have 41 points!!!!! It is possible. But I am not going to put money on it. Got to go now, two men in white coats have just turned up.
Did you say 41 points?? Optimism or mad, blind faith? Dunno, but I like your style, streetly!
As the great Gershwin brothers put it;
“they all laughed at Christopher Columbus when he said the world was round, they all laughed when Edison recorded sound…”
