Richard Dunne may be offered a new contract by Aston Villa, despite not featuring at all this season.
Paul Lambert states that he know’s what kind of player Richard Dunne is, and he doesn’t need to impress the manager with his performances. Having said that, the key is that he recovers from his injury and the doctors can confirm his ability to play football again in the near future.
“It is not a case of running out of time. I know what the guy can do. It is not as if he is 19 or 20 years old and has to impress.
“I have an open mind but the main thing for me is that he is going to be fit again.
“We will have to wait and see what the surgeon has said about the injury. I am pretty sure that he will not require another operation. – Paul Lambert
I can understand why Dunne may be offered a new deal, he is experienced and if we get relegated I don’t really see many Premier League teams chasing his signature. Also, maybe Lambert won’t be given to much money in the summer, so any players we have, we should keep. Or maybe I’m digging way to deep and Lambert simply wants to keep Dunne.
Nonthe-less, Dunne has been important in the past and may prove to be even more important in the near future. Whether or not he deserves a new deal is difficult to judge, but most importantly I hope he recovers soon and is able to play football again.
…and this is why we have no money! Dunne is 33 and injury prone, surely his wages would be better used elsewhere!
Is it the first of April!! This is desperation. Maybe your right Adam lambert won’t have any money to spend in summer so has to hold on to what he’s got. Gosh anyone that renews ST next season needs to be certified as insane.
Hope this is a wind up benno.
Nooooooooo!
PL: ““It is not a case of running out of time. I know what the guy can do.”
yes, we do too, he has the ability to be slower than a horse and cart and like his partner in crime collins gives away too many pens and free kicks when he gets skinned. if football was constantly played about head hight and never on the floor he’d be great, but it isnt. maybe a move to stoke might suit him
he could perform better in the championship as he certainly cant cope in the prem due to his lack of pace but like Benno said surely his wages could be used better by us espcially if we go down.
Richard Dunne is a fine defender, the best of his generation. Villa should break the bank to retain his services.
If he stays and I hope he doesn’t his wages would be a fraction of what they are now.
After consulting his agent and mentor Dunne stated ‘ I have alot to thank oohah for and I’m delighted to be signing this 10 year extension to my contract with a greatly improved salary which reflects the outstanding service I have given to Aston Villa. I have been on a strict fitness regime during my lay off and I’m now down to 31 stone. I have an important part to play at this club and hope to return to fitness before the clubs pre season tour to mr blobby land.
Lol I never knew you were funny Langford
Hey mate…53 years a Villan… Got to have a sense of humour!
Fair play Langford
Let me know when he is !!!!!
He would give us experience and leadership and just what were missing, bet you would be the first singing his name if he scored fickle Langfordvilla
I agree big Ron he would give us added experience we still miss ?
Langford we have to get Oohah to sign as well…………. piece and good will to Dunne.
Lol.. Will do 2 great CB …just what we need!
And where exactly does it say he will be offered a new contract? He won’t be that’s for sure come the summer he is gone and so are his 50 or 60k wages, we better spend in the summer if we stay up maybe this is why villa were against the new rules brought in? Hopes and dreams maybe lol
I’m pretty sure he will be of to USA for a huge pay day
You change people’s posts
My immediate reaction is that due to his age and manner of his injuries this season, we should be looking else where. Then again, I agree if we go down this season then I would be happy to have him at the club… on half the wages.
He is there for guidance aswell he’s an Experianced defender UTV.
No comment. Fucking ridiculous!
He’s slow because of his age but he has mountains of knowledge about hard battling gutsy defending.Dunny is no pufta he’s put in graft at villa and he knows how to crunch em.Thats why he’s called the dunnymonster.
experience is priceless and dunne as plenty 2 offer thats 4 sure ~ dunno about how long his body can cope thou
Oohah is a liar and changes posts
What’s that all about big fat Ron ??
I put some posts up and they got changed by oohah what was there isn’t what I posted so he changes them think he’s a fake how can u change posts it makes this site a farce if what you put can be changed , bet this isn’t here in a day you watch
Maybe he as something to offer in a coaching role but can;t see him playing again.
I agree tezza
Yeah, me too
It’s been so long since he got a game for us that I can’t even remember what he looks like. I could foresee a situation where he’d be given a new deal, play for about five minutes, then be crocked again for the remainder of the contract. I’ll see this one, THEN believe it.
Wouldn’t get too worked up about this story. Could be a case of Lambert trying to put the incentive of a new contract out there in a bid to keep him motivated for the remainder of the season. Surely if he is offered a new contract then it would have to be considerably less than he is on now.
It would be pretty bad if Lambert came out and said ‘who gives a toss he will be out of contract in the summer and i will have another £50k a week to play with’, I will not read too much into this, i like Dunne but his Villa days are numbered
