Transfer speculation is back! Let’s start with the Manchester City link; ever since City have sold Balotelli to Milan they are need of a physical striker and Mancini has targeted Benteke as the replacement. He is a cheaper option then Cavani, who City have also been linked with. City believe that they can capture the striker on a 20 million deal.
Wow, all this transfer speculation around Benteke is really bothering me. I want him to stay at least for more then a season; give us a chance to improve! But if City come rolling in I would try to get more then 20 million, I’m sure we could do that. Villa have sold a lot of good players over the years, but one thing that we’re good at is getting a good amount of money. Also, as in the past I can bet that Benteke won’t be as good for any other team as he has for Villa. But if I was Villa I’d ask 20 million + James Milner.
There is also some more transfer speculation and this link has been seen before but it’s worth a re-post. Remember Watford’s Trot Deeney? Well he’s linked again and it’s claimed that Lambert may be able to get him on a free transfer. His contract is out in the summer and there hasn’t been successfully negotiations between Watford and Deeney. Deeney has scored 12 goals in 24 games for Watford.
If we get relegated, sure go for him. But if we remain I’d look else where. The reason behind this move is the uncertainty of Benteke and Bent’s future at the club. I think it’s more then that, Weimann’s contract is also soon running out and he’s getting frustrated. Currently only Agbonlahor is straight up loyal and that worries me; we need more loyalty from our strikers (with the exception of Bent).

I thought Delph played well today as well…our squad does look a bit stronger at the moment despite spending next to nothing in the window. We may have a good end to the season after all. Many more nervy momemts to come..but we CAN survive!

There was no mention of Deeney before he was highlighted here.
I bet no one at Villa even knew he had links with the club and the area.
Huge shame they did not get him in the Transfer Window.
Hopefully as a Premier League Club in August, Villa can still pick and choose.
I really hope that Deeney is not with a Premiership club (even Watford who must now be minimum in the play-offs) in August other than Villa – especially not Watford promoted, and Villa down.
