Aston Villa 2 – 1 West Ham; Poor, but we got the points.

Well, it wasn’t exactly the game that I’d imagined, but we got the points, which is all that counts, isn’t it?
I can’t really argue much with Clark being given the Man of the match award, as I thought he did well, but good shouts would have been Nzogbia and Guzan, for me. Bent made a fair difference too, with some good movement.

Which brings me to the gamble that was Jordan Bowery. What Paul Lambert was thinking here, I really don’t have a clue. Whatever, I’m not into slating young kids and I’ll just take the view that the gamble failed.

Delph was the biggest disappointment, in my opinion. His first touch today was truly shocking.

Benteke took a great penalty and I love the way he’s so confident and cool. This kid really is the business and has the potential to go all the way to the very top.

But 1-0 wasn’t enough for me, as I always thought we could throw it away, yet again.

And then we got the second via N’zog. Now I felt a little bit more comfortable and actually thought we might have a chance of a home victory (!).

When Westwood scored a very unfortunate own goal, I had visions of yet another collapse and could see us really regretting Andy Weimann’s miss early on. Just how did he miss that?

Whatever, it didn’t matter and we got the points, which was all that was required.

Let’s hope that this result is the springboard that turns things around and gets us the points we need to survive.
After a pretty poor overall performance against a pretty poor opposition, I suspect it could be.

  1. that was abysmal, at times I thought us and West Spam had been relegated already and playing a championship game.

Delighted at the points and the win, despairing of the quality of the PL and just the shite we are paying a small fortune to watch, Does anyone watching that rubbish think it is worth paying the cash to see that ?

After the game I watched Man U (their poorest team for 20 years) stroll to a win against Everton (their best team in many a year) and just thinking when will fans wake up to the dismal fare on show ?

  2. Pleased with the result. Thought defense was strong. The two goals were fortunate. Sure hope this is sign of things to come.

  3. I am pleased. And happy. I don’t feel like moaning.

  4. didnt catch the game today, can anyone let me know how Dawkins looked after coming on? ta

  5. I thought Dawkins did very well when he came on, lets enjoy the three points, I don’t care if we played well or not the result was the main thing today
