GarethVilla has submitted this and it makes up for a good debate.
BBC sports have just produced a managerial performance chart and not surprisingly it makes dreadful reading as a Villa fan.
As I scrolled down the list and then scrolled down some more, I eventually found our current ‘manager’ placed as high as 107th!
Nicely sandwiched between Roberto Martinez, whom we failed to attract to the club and of course Alex McLeish.
Makes shocking reading and really shows up Randy Lerner and Paul Faulkner for what they are-a pair of clueless fools who wouldn’t recognise a good manager if he disguised himself as Ron Saunders.
For the last 3 years the club has been run into the ground by these two and I’m afraid we have bitten off more than we can chew this season with relegation looking certain.
It’s a sad and frustrating time to be a Villa fan.
This chart has also caught my attention, the stats are absolutely revolting. Lambert has managed 0.84 points per game. That’s pretty poor, but I still can’t blame Lerner because there was honestly no other managerial targets. At the time, I was very happy with Lambert; a young ambitious manager. Of course I’d rather have the likes of Di Matteo or someone with a good CV, but at the time it wasn’t a reality. Now, we need to stick with our manager and support our team. But this BBC chart definitely makes for a horrid read, especially since we have to scroll almost to the very bottom!
Gareth I do agree, although I never wanted lamberk and never will. Some of us saw back in the summer that he had proven nothing yet (see Owen Coyle, Phil Brown and Paul Jewell as examples). He can’t even get a sentence out without mumbling some nonsense like “we’ll be fine” (when we clearly are not) in his dour, patronising manner. Never before have I disliked a manager of our club so much, not even mcleish or o’leary, even they had more about them.
You cannot hide from the statistics and they read, the lowest number of wins, lowest number of home wins, worst goal difference, lowest points total at this stage, all since the inception of the PL. There is no defence for lamberk, although there are of course plenty of sheep who follow ‘Paul Lambert F.C’ rather then AVFC. The same sheep that claimed disliking Mcleish was nothing to do with his Blues connections, even though he did a much better job here. Sure, the mugs that sang his name got the useless twat they wanted

Its unbelievable that some people are still supporting lambert, including lerner.very depressing.
In fairness, you have to understand that the context of the ‘managerial performance’ is based on those that have held full time managerial appointments since the commencement of the 2011/12 season, and the average points per league game only.
You didn’t need a performance chart to know that Villa’s managers have not picked up many points per game, or that Roberto Martinez will not be near the top of the full list of league managers with Wigan.
Bit of a crap feature by the BBC really, if it had been based upon management careers, all well and good, but most football fans could tell you who would be near the top and bottom based on which teams did well and gained promotion or suffered relegation last season.
If you are saying that Lerner and Faulkener should have used this, as I said earlier, we should have Eddie Howe from Bournemouth, or maybe Paulo Di Canio of Swindon.
Like i have said all along some will blindly follow where others dare not tread and you all know on here what i call them.
Looking at that managerial table on the BBC website, all the managers below lambert have either been sacked or been in the job a short amount of time.
Just staggering how he is still in a job, Lerner has neglected this club. Backs up my point that any other chairman at any other club would have sacked lambert weeks ago. He does not deserve to manage another game for AVFC.
im very much in favor of giving managers a chance, in reality a season and a half is needed for a manager to be judged. a season and a half to join as lambert did in the summer giving time to asses the team and dabble in the market and another summer to add to the team after a season and a half it will be that managers team tactics and footballing philosophy and the buck can truely stop with him.
the way clubs sack managers at the moment is sometimes nothing short of ridiculous.
that said i dont think ive seen a manager perform so badly in the prem as lambert is right now, his decisions and tactics are sometimes baffling, continuing to select Bannan, playing this system at the back constantly despite the clear facts showing its not working and the team seems to do better with 4-4-2 are just a couple of things which have us questioning his ability, there are of course many, many more.
any other time and any other club would have got rid by now but i do think learner is going to stick with him and in reality what alternative is there? i couldnt see anyone coming in and turning this mess around this late in the season.
could some one post a link to the bbc managerial table please as i cant find it.
Makes my blood boil to think Lerner has sat there and done sod all when it is clear to see that Lambert is taking us down ! This man should of been sacked after the Wigan shambles ! We spent no money in January so what was the point in keeping him !
Poor piece by bbc!!
The stats tell us that we are bottom 3?
You don’t like learner, lambert, Faulkner, MON, Houlier, DOL, Mcleish! See a trend! We are supporters not consumers! If you want to be consumers, vote with your feet! Support Manure, Chelski or even the Blues!
I bet when your family do something wrong you’d be in court supporting the prosecution and donning a black cap!!
You want a big club! Hold off your negativity! Let them build the club! The grass is never greener!
Supporter not consumer!!!
Spot on St villa. Di matteo, you are kidding me right! Lamberts got to have at least 2-3 seasons.
Thanks ever so much for posting my article.
i think we all do support the club, we all care otherwise we wouldn’t even spend time discussing issues on this site and when the whistle goes wether we’re at the game or watching, listening somewhere else we are all supporting our club for those 90mins.
when the game has finished we discuss issues and sometimes people can be negative and voice critisisms and lets face it there’s been a lot to be negative about this season but that doesnt mean people arent supporting the club it means they are concerned for our club and they are concerned because they care.
Nicely put.
Villa win tomorow and it’s out of the bottom 3! If we can pull out tom
As the delightful Karen Brady said, if u want a Manager to perform miracles, you have to provide him with some disciples. Lerner has failed in this.
LERNER OUT!
