OK, I am very nervous for tomorrow.
Of course I have to start this by saying no game is totally predictable and that when you say a game we will lose may not happen. We saw this at Liverpool of course and football has this wonderful habit of proving you wrong.
However it is clear to all we need 15-18 points for safety from 13 games. Over these games I class 5 as ‘unwinnable’ Arsenal, Man City, Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool. This in simple terms means we need 5/6 wins from 8 games, when it is put like that it shows the dire straits we are in.
Therefore for tomorrow’s game with just 8 games to get the wins, this is a TRUE MUST WIN. We have seen these before, Wigan, Southampton for example but this is the one. We do not win tomorrow then it means 5/6 wins from just 7 ‘winnable’ games and few would expect us to get that.
I know there are a remaining few out there who say that this is being too doom laden. However we all know the game, we know surprise results can happen but we have not looked like doing it enough to give me confidence we can get out of this.
In this case therefore this is why I am so damn nervous for tomorrow. I suspect even in the hearts of the most optimistic fans they even know this is the MUST win game of any this season.
Nervous as I type this, god knows what I will be like at one tomorrow !!
Mate fully agree but see it happening we just can;t hold on to a lead look at the Everton game we should have been home and dry but through it away there is no stamina in the team to last 90 minutes.Lose to West Ham and fear it;s all over and worry who is going to put the final nail in the coffin.
dont worry because some have said we will win every game since Chelsea and I guess a stopped clock is right twice.
I said after saints defeat we are down, this is the LAST chance to disprove that.
Ian I totally agree we were relegated after the home defeats by Wigan saints and Newcastle, try to accept it I have and it’s made it easier
But still cry every day lol

Liverpool unwinnable…. Hows your memory Ian…FFS its only a couple of months since we beat them!
what happened then is irrelevant since then we have collapsed and they have got much better.
And whos to say that the reverse cant happen by the time we play them. I believe that their Europa cup campaign can affect their PL performances!
We can give anyone a good game if the right team turns up on the day…ie man city (cup), norwich (cup), Liverpool, Everton, Sunderland and Swansea (league)… There is a good side in there. What we lack is consistency and we somehow have to produce that over the last 13 games…. But I must add that NO game is unwinnable…just ask Oldham, Luton, Bradford, Leeds, MK Dons et al. We do not want to be approaching games with a defeatist attitude, if we do, then we are doomed.. Fight to the bitter end is my motto.
Villa 3 West Ham 0
good analysis of the situation and yes its another ‘must win’ game, we keep on having these ‘must win’ games which we keep on losing, wigan, southampton, newcastle.
as langford says no game is unwinnable, as wigan have often proved at this time of the season, 13 games is a long time in footie although our form doesn’t inspire any confidence.
and again on the back of what langford said which team will turn up tomorrow? and will they play both halves? i’ve seen our team perform really well this season even defensively arsenal and stoke and reading games we were looking great at the back, also the liverpool game our defensive play was outstanding the liverpool players never had a moment on the ball to stop and play. is it really the chelsea game(sorry to mention the ‘C’ word guys)that has done for our defense? coz we have not been the team we were since that game and our defense go into a panic on a regular basis now, you can see and feel it when you’re watching villa. they need to man up and grow some balls!
COME ON VILLA!

The phrase ‘must win’ has been used for the last 3 home games against relegation rivals and we bottled it and lost all of them.
Yes we have had good patches in games, but ultimately you play to the whistle and we simply lack the concentration and stamina to see games out.
How many times do you see the opposition score late goals or make comebacks against us, yet we ourselves hardly ever do it.
As for West Ham, if we lose then surely lambert cannot remain, you can’t lose 4 consecutive home games against bottom half teams and expect to keep your job. In many ways, the West Ham game really is the last chance saloon, no excuses, no bemoaning luck or referees, win at all costs should be the mentality.
The phrase ‘must win’ is bandied around so often that it starts to lose relevance. I think that it was first seen on this site in late August or September last year lol !
There are games that are important, but it’s only when time starts to run out and there is a much lower points tally remaining that games increase in importance.
Having said that, it definitely applies tomorrow as I fear that if we fall four points clear of safety we are doomed, as a squad clearly very low on confidence will accept that the task ahead of them is too great.
For me, the only hope is that we stay ‘in the hunt’ as we are not consistent enough to put together a run, and haven’t shown the ability to for almost two seasons now.
If we win tomorrow, and other results go to form, we’ll be out of the bottom three.
Having watched us against Swansea, WBA & Everton, I just don’t see the same side that turns out at Villa Park.
Against Wigan, we looked very nervous and never recovered from the early set back.
I thought that we were desperately unlucky not to get something against Saints and Newcastle, Saints had a penalty that never was, and we battered both in the second half without a return.
Of the five that you state are unwinnable, I reckon we’ll get more than three points.
With Arsenal and Man City coming up next, we have to win tomorrow, or we could easily be six points off safety by the time we’re playing Reading, QPR, Fulham and Sunderland.
If offered, I’d actually take needing a point at Wigan to survive.
For those that have said they’re staying away now as we’re crap and the club is being mismanaged, I would suggest that whilst there is validity to those claims, the team have not needed support like this for almost thirty years.
Each to their own though.
Every manager playing us on the day, are saying to his team put pressure on their defence they will crack, and we do, tomorrow we have to be men, hard but fair, we do have a team but frightened and young minds in our ranks. go out and believe Villa and make us proud. 2-1 Villa.
I agree entirely.
The 8-0 thrashing by Chelsea was so disastrous to us, as it shattered any confidence the defence had gained over the previous games, and left us shell shocked.
It also sent off a distress flare that every other manager saw and has subsequently acted upon.
Surely a clean sheet is not far away, and I have confidence that the goals will come.
There’s never a clean sheet lately in my house the night before a Villa game, but I’m living in hope after most of today’s results.
I reckon tomorrow’s going to be incredibly nervy given our team of bottlers, but for Gawd’s sake, given how things have gone for them elsewhere today, surely they can grab the bull by the horns and get us the three points we so desperately desperately need. Lose what is now another “must win” game and the fat lady really can start hollering, I reckon. I’m going for an edgy 2-1 win for us.
C’mon!!!!
All the results gone our way today Lambert must produce a victory at VP or he is a fuckin mug.Comon the villa.
Results have gone our way in every possible way, lets hope the lads respond tom. UTV
everything has gone our way so far today, need to make sure we take advantage tomorrow. No more excuses Lambert.
West ham will come at us all guns blazing and try Arial route we need an early couple of goals.
True but their defence isnt exactly rock solid, we have to just score more than them!! Weimann hatrick is on the cards!
Nice to see results have gone our way,now it’s up to the lads to do their bit in making us move up the table.i bet fernandez is regretting splashing out.
This is it then, it’s back on our hands. And I have a strong feeling that we will do it. Beginning tomorrow. I don’t know why, I just feel it, trust me.
Streetly ive had that feeling all week, especially with other results today.im not getting carried though mate.
*away after carried.
Villa park needs to rock tomorrow, we are all pissed off and not happy but I would say one thing this is about Aston Villa fc, never said this before in February but our season starts now.
3-1 to sthpton shit the bed that will mean they are on 27 points. We need to beat west ham and arse and all.UTV
I think that it’s between us Reading and Wigan, QPR look to have gone.
Saints, Newcastle or someone else may fall into the equation, but it’s perm one from three for safety in my eyes.
Nzog to score first! Villa win 2-1
LUMP ON
i still see it being out of a good few for relegation at the mo. 13 games to go, right upto fulham in 12th on 29pts i wouldn’t and im sure their fans do not feel too comfortable yet.
based on current form the worst teams are villa, wigan, norwich and q.p.r in that order.
