Sunday crunch time, a game that is super important. We are in the relegation zone, our rivals are picking up form and we need to do the same. Aston Villa have improved as of late, but mostly away. Villa have picked up draws against West Brom and Everton, the worry is that Villa drew from winning positions. Villa Park hasn’t been a fortress as of late with recent defeats to Newcastle, Southampton and Wigan, all relegation candidates! West Ham’s form hasn’t been to good either, their last away victory was against Newcastle in November!
So this weekend we’ve got two out of form teams chasing for glory, it should be a close encounter. West Ham are a physical side and they make things happen from set pieces. Our defence has to be on top form if they are to keep out the ariel threat of Nolan and Carroll.
Aston Villa Team News:
Ashley Westwood may miss out on Sunday’s game because of a virus. El Ahmadi and Delph have over come their knee problems and are available.
West Ham Team News:
James Collins and McCartney are out injured. While Maiga remains in the African Cup of Nations.
Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has scored in four consecutive appearances in all competition
Sam Allardyce’s side have lost all nine games where they have conceded two or more goals.
If matches this season had finished at halftime, West Ham would be 14th (currently 11th), while Aston Villa would be eighth (currently 19th).
Aston Villa 1-0 West Ham
A close game, but Villa will need to win. This is honestly the last chance of survival because if we lose this, we can’t stay up. It would be just too hard. The boys will go for it!
