England v Brazil: Does anyone really care?

I know it’s not really Villa related, especially as we don’t have any players taking part, but it does at least involve English footy.

As above, does anyone really care about this blatant waste of time?

I see this match as a pure distraction from what’s important, which is the Prem.

It’s total showboating, with no proper tackling (in case someone gets injured), yet is portrayed by the media that it really matters.

To me it’s a pure money spinner for Wembley (or the Emirates, where I won’t even ask why the hell are the Brazil friendlies held there, unless someone’s on an earner?) that tells us absolutely nothing about the state of our national side.

You might have gathered, I’m not impressed.

  1. Im not interested. Club football has always been more important to me.

  2. Couldn’t care less really. Only interested in International football during tournaments. Hate the hyped up England bandwagon also. Probably why I have never liked the national team.

  3. I have lost interest in international football since the Russia and Qatar thing, I also feel something is very wrong with the Spanish game, I just dont understand how after so many games they never look faitgued

It is on though but only because the options are so poor on other channels

    • you do know and look at the Fuentes case currently on going and the establishment not asking nor seeking the right answers.

As for Qatar (more than Russia) that is as corrupt as sport can get, though Beckham will do well out of it, playing for PSG is all bout Qatar of course.

      • The Fuentes case will rumble on until it explodes- and then some very famous names in all sorts of sports, including football, will suddenly look a lot less glamorous.

Then you have this week’s Europol match-fixing revelations… all the crap related to the Champions League is a lot closer to the surface now, and the stink is going to be very hard to ignore or hide.

    • Iv not watched it can’t get myself excited for friendly. Even if we won 25.0 it would mean nothing. Just a homage to sky 4 players and a commercial exercise that people are stupid enough to pay good money for.

    • When the “Peurto Affair” first raised it’s head some years back the police said that the drug ring involved over 600 sportsmen including cyclists, footballers, athletes etc.Up until now only cyclists have ever been named. However the doctors involved are now on trial in Spain and already it has been alleged that players from Real Sociedad have been using performance enhancing drugs.Trouble is you probably won’t read about in the British press …. I wonder why ?

  4. Interesting.
I used to care, when it was clear that the players wanted that cap.
Ashley Cole 100 caps? “Wow” is all I can say.

    We’ve just gone 2-1 up, I see.
Do that when it really matters against them and I might be interested.

    • There are so many meaningless internationals now; I always thought it was ludicrous for the media to rave over Beckham’s 100+ caps, as if somehow you could compare that to the achievements of genuine England stars of the past like Billy Wright, Charlton, Moore or Shilton, and now they’re on about Cole reaching the same number.
Mind you, I still miss the old Home Internationals – just have to watch the 6 Nations instead!

      • Agreed ardent. The media love brand beckham though. Like u say he’s not fit to wipe the arses of English greats in the past. Plus the so called golden sky generation of becham, Gerard etc won fuck all for their country and underperformed in a lot of games.

        • As you and others have said earlier, the recent lot – and I suspect that the ‘next generation’ [Walcott, Wilshere, etc] will be the same – just can’t hack it in tournaments, and get shown up for what they are: over-hyped, big fish in a small pond.

  5. Not even watching it, the game means nothing even though it is a special occasion. For diehards only, I’m more bothered international wise about the 6 nations on Sunday

  6. commentators coming over the poorest Brazil side we have ever seen. Players not even fit to lace the boots of their 1994 WC team never mind the great sides. Not a single world class player in their side.

the atmosphere 90K there totally dreadful why do people pay such high money to see shit friendlies ?

    • Agree Ian just an excuse for all the sky 4 players to promote themselves. Commentators creaming themselves over Wiltshire Rooney and Gerard. Rooney and Gerard have never done it in a tournament when it really matters. England team picked by the sponsers, players like Rooney and Gerard only playing in a friendly because its brazil if it was against Lithuania or someone like that they would be feigning their normal injuries. Disgraceful how they are allowed to pick which games they want to play in.

  7. We’ll probably win,if this was a group match at a finals more than likely we wouldn’t because thats england for you.im not remotely interested & haven’t been for a while now.

  8. Can’t believe how poor Brazil have become and how easy it is to get into that side. Why anyone is making them favorites for the WC is beyond me.

    • because people get blinded by the myth and not the reality

      • True best brazil side was 1982 even though they didn’t win cup. Since then they’ve not been anywhere the brazil of old even though they’ve won the WC since 1982. It is a myth about Brazil and they will probably get to the quarters then get knocked out. They are no where near good enough to win WC especially defensively they look as bad as us at the back…almost!!

    • Another interesting point L4W.

The difference is Brazil can probably add something when it really matters, whereas we have to play at our best just to live with them in a friendly, imo.

  9. I love to see England WIn im English and proud of it.I also support the team where i was born in England im proud of that to.I love England and I love the Villa.Given the choice though England world cup win or AVFC win the premiership AVFC winning the premier league would win everytime.Gu on the England gu on Tha Villa .UTV :-)

  10. JD Villa well said, I cannot believe what you all said, football, get the message football, have you all gone one eyed, dont you now support your country ? Robo I agree about friendlies not needed, but to play the game against other countries, Yes, your forefathers gave you the game, other counties are jealous of us and want to beat England, fly that flag your British.

    • ETID,VTID.Im a lion and a bulldog fuckin grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.Fuck west ham gu on villa dig em a grave at Villa park R.I.P west ham dead at villa park on Sunday fuck ya bubbles.
