That’s what the commentator said and he was quite simply correct.
I had it in my head we’d be soundly beaten before the kick off, so to actually get a draw is a pretty decent result, I suppose.
Everton have played some pretty decent stuff this season and deserve to be up there challenging for the Champion’s league. They’ll certainly be more annoyed about this result than we will.
But how annoying is it that we’ve thrown away yet another two points that should have been in the bag?
The game itself was a real roller-coaster, I thought.
With a couple of minutes to go, I was thinking “well the defence look decidedly dodgy, but we’ve managed to nick it, so it doesn’t matter” and then we concede from yet another corner.
Which in all fairness, always looked like it was going to come.
What is it about us, where we take a commanding lead and are doing well, but concede and then disappear into our shell and go onto the defensive?
Was it the case that Everton massively stepped it up and piled the pressure on?
I don’t think so.
Same as always, we started to get overwhelmed in midfield, after we had taken it to them in the first half.
Benteke was his usual frightening self and Gabby was causing all sorts of problems, so what happened?
I really don’t know, but perhaps some of you can explain it to me.
Plus points?
Well we didn’t lose.
But it seems other results have somewhat gone against us.
Whichever way you look at things, that’s a massive two points dropped today.
I’m so frustrated, words can’t describe.
But at least we look like we’re still up for the fight.
Lamberts post match comments about vlaars defending you have to laugh. Exactly what he did for millwall goal to why dosnt lambert sort it out ffs!!
‘They defended so well but Fellaini has scored important goals for them and when the corner comes into the box, Ron (Vlaar) has got him and then he loses him.’
All that effort to score 3 goals and we go and blow it…again! Thats Swansea, Albion and now here. Our forwards are doing their job, but our defenders are not. WIthout the amount of possession we had its a miracle we got 3 goals, but we did, and we still failed to win.
Thought Bennett and El Ahmadi were passengers today. Benteke was great again as was Gabby. Hopefully Sylla will add something in the middle although he looks a liability for getting red cards.
Im sick of saying this, but West Ham is now a must win, we are getting entrenched in the bottom 3.
On a positive note, we are now unbeaten away in the league the last three games.
On a negative, we have been winning all three games and dropped six points.
There is enough fight in this Villa side to stay up, we have to get wins from the West Ham, Reading and Sunderland games.
