Just a simply fascinating press conference today from Lambert.
First we had the dreaded vote of confidence. Not delivered of course from Lerner but he has allowed Lambert to deliver it. Never known that before and will it work, only after tomnorrow’s game can we judge.
Then we have these gem of quotes from Lambert.
“I have no complaints about having very little money to spend – I knew the remit when I took over,” added Lambert.
“He [Lerner] hasn’t washed his hands of this club but there will be no splashing out like Darren Bent two years ago [who joined Villa for £18m].
“How many players are we short? There’s a few. But I knew the remit was to rebuild. To rebuild something you have to strip it right back.
OK who still believes in smoke and mirrors then ? Lambert could not be any more clear could he ? Those thinking we will spend millions will have their answer now don’t they ? What of course this does confirm is the story/rumour/suspicion that relegation is something we are prepared to take as part of the rebuilding process.
I posted yesterday and posed the question would relegation be the way to do this, well Lambert almost gives us the answer. Like with a car when you strip it back to rebuild it stops working. The engine is removed, the wheels are off and it goes nowhere.
There is no difference at Villa, we have added new younger parts but the low prices means we have to pay for it with inexperience. I doubt Lambert or Lerner thought it would be THAT bad but they believe it is a price worth paying.
Talk about a risky plan eh ?
well that was a game dominated by villa, we made them look like barcelona in the 1st half and made them look like the vunerable 2nd rate outfit the really are in the 2nd.
played well 2nd half when we went 4 at the back its happened before when we’ve switched to a back 4 but again too late the game was already lost, even if we equalized we needed 3 points not 1.
those decisions are managerial if you ask me, poor decisions and selections and tactics again by lambert.
oh and btw if anyone was unsure banon is a fuckin liability, simple as that, id rather play given in centre mid.
Were going down were going down we meet again dont when dont know where im sure were be in the prem some sunny day the villa are shit the villa are fucked thanks to randy lerner
Writing is on the wall: we can´t win at home even with the best chances. We lost against direct relegations strugglers like Wigan, Southampton and now Newcastle in the last few weeks. That says it all. We need some magic but from where.
