Lerner’s Never Never Team-And Yes Lambert Out

After last nights latest humiliation the news (if true) that Lambert is to stay no matter what puts the final nail in our coffin.

It now seems incredibly likely that Lambert’s remit was to build a team for the championship next season. Assuming this to be the case then Lambert has fulfilled his side of the bargain. Of course Lambert’s team (if you can call it that) would struggle in division 2 let alone the championship. Lambert’s lack of tactical nous has been cruelly exposed by a second division team who more than deserved their victory over two legs. A manager that loses 8.0 to Chelsea gets hammered by Wigan and Spurs and outplayed by Bradford should be sacked. Hell we all wanted Mc’leish out for a lot less than this! Any manager that produces a team that never learns from basic mistakes like conceding from corners every game does not deserve to have a job in professional football let alone at our great club. And please Lambert apologists do not use the excuse that we have only kids. It was Bradford we played last night not Barcelona. We should still have had enough quality there to see them off. Our most experienced CH (Vlaar) made the school boy error that cost us not Clarke. These so called youngsters are 23-24 so are men. All Lamberts signings (except Benteke) have proved they would struggle to make the Bradford team which cost just £7.5k.

As for Lerner he does not care anymore that is obvious. He is going nowhere fast so we are stuck with him for the future. I for one will not pay another penny to line Lerner’s pockets. Under Lerner Villa will never win anything, will never be a big club again, will never be in the premier once we go down, will never be run properly, will never keep our best players, will never attract or afford big name players or managers, will never get rid of Lambert and appoint a decent manager, will never be anything but a feeder club, will never appoint proper football people that know the game, will never fight and will never exist once Lerner has raped the club!!

  1. I personally don t think Lerner would have set out, this season,to take Villa into The Championship. That just would not make sense.
He took advice, some of which came from a section of the supporters and appointed Paul Lambert as manager.
The bloke has since proved he is not up to the job and should be sacked.

I m having trouble seeing how its all Lerners fault,he gave PL over 20 mill to spend, money a lot of other managers would have loved to have at their disposal.
The side he inherited, was not a bad side, definately not going to win you the EPL but quite capable of staying up,with a few decent additions to the squad.
Lambert walks in and immediately sacks half the team,we should have known then what was coming.
Effectively what he s done, because he doesn t like “big time” players, he has thumbed his nose at our first team regulars and turned us into a championship side,so he s comfortable managing us.
He is,to put mildly, not up to managing in the epl and should go immediately, before he does anymore damage.

  2. “He took advice, some of which came from a section of the supporters and appointed Paul Lambert as manager.” – that’s exactly what’s wrong with the owner and his pet; last season he supposedly took ‘advice’ from Sir Alex Redface and appointed AMcL.

FFS, Lerner & Co were supposed to be pro’s – and pro’s would appoint expert headhunters to find the manager they need, then pay what it takes to get him – but we can now see that they’re so clueless as to make Deadly look like a genius.

    • Very,very true.Thats why we desperately need a director of football,G T,would be good.
Someone with good football knowledge,a clear vision for the clubs ongoing success and how to achieve it.
Letting these clowns pick a manager is like letting me pick a horse.

  3. Oh would you keep your knickers on.
Lambert and the owners deliberately relegated the club for some elusive reason or another me bollox … The melodrama ..

Mistakes were made by manager owner and players. Honestly the way we go on sometimes. It’s as if every club that has been relegated before us deserved it where as if we go down we don’t ?
If we are one of the three worst teams in the prem we will go down. Simple
But it’s January and we are playing shit and are at the wrong end of the table.
    Not relegated
Sack lambert, sack Faulkner sack the groundsmen … How have we fared after the last two managers left ?
    Seen lots of improvement?
Ya so hey let’s sack another one
Lads honestly there are worse owners ( look at Blackburn)
There are also far worse managers ( have we all forgotten Mcleish or souness or Ramos’ stint at Tottenham or perhaps our own Venglos or o Leary ?

It’s time to stick I think, another roll of the dice
Probably just as risky and hey I say try a different action if you want a different result

    • We were 9 points better of under mcleish this time last year so how does that make lambert a better manager. Why can we not defend corners even against 2nd division teams even when we know what’s coming. Don’t forget Lerner is only loaning the club money. He has made us into a feeder club where we buy gems then sell them on for a profit. Lerner will cash in on Benteke in summer plus Benteke can’t wait to fuck of anyway.

      • So no other small or medium club have to sell players to larger clubs when they refuse to negotiate a new contract ?

I didn’t realise that prior to Lerner players like Yorke, Southgate, Boateng, Ehiogu, Staunton and Saunders were told that they could not move.

Funnily enough, thinking back to when Boro were splashing the cash on fair to middling players, that reminds me of the MON era at Villa. Hope we don’t go the same way.

You’re talking out of your backside which defeats your whole argument.

Lerner has lent the club some money, he has also spent a vast sum which will not be recouped.

    • Come on the way you write tells me you are intelligent enough to see this is a disaster, RL has been stripping the club of any asset in the hope he can create more assets through the academy, he does not care about Aston villa one bit, its time the man and his lap dog left AVFC they are ripping the heart out of the club and a lot of money as well

      • I think that Randy has poured money in with the hope that it will achieve great things.

He has been badly let down, clearly.

In fairness, he has a large part of the blame to shoulder himself, he is the top man.

Quite why he was buying the likes of Harewood, Davies, Sidwell, Beye, Warnock, Hutton, Reo-Coker etc, etc, etc if he is an asset stipper I really wouldn’t know.

An asset stripper buys a company in difficulty, sells their most valuable assets at a profit with no regard for how this leaves said company, usually bankrupting it.

Lerner’s sad legacy for six years ownership can be described as many things, asset stripping is not one of them.

  4. Lerner has poured £250m into the club in six years to get us relegated ? Strange hobby.

Reactionary nonsense in this little piece.

    “outplayed by Bradford”

Did you go to either game ? We made far more chances and had more of the ball but were undone by basic defensive frailties.

Is it really your considered opinion that Bradford played us off the park on Tuesday.

We’re all pissed and fearing relegation, but keep it in context.

    • Vaze all of that money goes back to the lerner trust with interest once all of the loans are paid up with a profit lerner will sell the club off, having avoided taxes in his own country through foreign investment and investment in trusts the man is a complete fraud.

UTV i will still goto VP because i love the club

      • This is totally incorrect Morgan, but a populist agenda being adopted by the anti-Lerner camp.

I work in finance and know my way around both tax and Trusts, Randy Lerner did not purchase Aston Villa as some sort of Yank asset stripper evading US revenue.

That is total fallacy, but a convenient image to currently portray.

I’m as upset with the way things are heading at Villa as anyone, but I won’t be drawn in on complete bullshit.

        • All i know is i really do not want this man at the club anymore, we have gone from bad to worse and it is apparent that whoever the manager was we would still be in this mess.

Faulkner has to go first or we need someone in that boardroom who an inside knowledge of the game

  5. we was not out played by Bradford the away game we had chances to be 3 up before it went wrong,we were still in the tie at Villa park but bradford where just waiting for that one set peice they said on the radio, Villa are weak defensivley, who do i blame for this well we was in this mess this time 2 years ago and we are still in the same mess two years later do the maths, Lerner + Lerner = MESS.

  6. To be a side that is top six year after year you need one of two things money or stability at the moment we have never, that is why, we are where we are,the club is being run badly,we really need a football man IE a director of football to help the manger because our board do not have a football brain between them.

  7. I remember how i felt when we went down in 87………….Trust me is was never as bad as this.

I’ve missed 3 games, in all competitions, home and away, in 28 years. This is without a shadow of a doubt the worst Villa team i have ever witnessed.

The owner has blatantly lost interest, the manager is so tactically clueless it’s frightening and the team really really are poor.

I really don’t know what to say apart from i will never step foot in vp until Lerner, Faulkner and Lambert are no longer there.

All my faith, hope and belief was taken from me on Tuesday night.

I’ll show my opinion by using actions……….not words……….enough is enough.
