Since Villa failed to reach the League Cup final there has been a lot of talk about Paul Lambert’s future. Well, it’s been answered; not from Lerner himself but through rumours and speculation across the internet. Lerner can’t afford to sack and hire a new manager, and it’s not his policy. We’ll see Lambert for the rest of the season and beyond; even if we get relegated.
Lambert and Lerner spoke after the game and the rumours are about transfer activity. There is some money available but not much, Lambert has already spent 20 million this summer (that’s a lot) but will be able to buy more players.
I personally blame Lambert for our failure to progress, but that is an article for another time. For now we have an idea of what is the future of Villa. Lambert will stay, he needs to add EXPERIENCED players. Forget youth, we’ve got to much of it.
The facts don’t look good do they.. seven days left in the window and no signs of any activity..
The only way we will stay up is if we BUY three quality players.. hell long term it might help the youngsters and next season we could be doing well.. but NO.. Lerner the pillock can’t see that…
Well i’m relieved Lambert isn’t going anywhere. He is a good manager and I know our position isn’t great but surely we can all see what he is trying to do. lerner has obviously said there is limited funds you need to get on with it.
£20Million in the summer wasn’t a huge amount considering how thin our squad already was. I think Lambert had to buy cheaper youthful players to bulk the squad out and give us a half fighting chance. If he hadn’t we would have only got 2 maybe 3 experienced players for that money.
Considering the lack of transfer activity at VP I think its clear to say that Lerner is not willing to buy us out of trouble, and Lmabert has got no choice but to go with what he has.
It does look sad and we most probably will end up in the Championship, but I do also believe Lambert will bring us back up and we will be a force again in a couple of years time. I would much rather build with the youngsters and get them devoted to Villa than have a load of big names that don’t give a sh*t about Villa and will be off as soon as they get a sniff. We already have a few of them left lurking about in the squad. Purely there for the pay cheque.
Up The Villa
2-3 experienced players takes a team further than a bunch of 19-22 year olds who aren’t used to tough situations. Benteke was a great buy but I see nothing in the others. Dunne has experience, Warnock has experience. Why the hell Bent didn’t start such a big game from the start id beyond me. Ive seen nowt from Brett Holman really, and westwood etc are championship players and soon they shall return to their element. very disappointed that there are villa fans happy with the fact that Lamberts staying, Norwich got the good end of that deal.
Vlaar zog Ireland given and gabby have experience and we still couldn’t beat Bradford. Our so called experience players are shit also and it was our most experienced ch who made a school boy error last night ffs. Another lambert misfit
Lambert is probably the worst tactician we have ever had at Villa. He is clueless once the opposition score, especially if we in the lead. Indiscipline comes from poor management and leads to poor on pitch decision making. Example – Bennett and Lowton always trying to clear up field when banging the ball in the stand is the simple answer. His team and formation selections are all over the place from one match and one half to the next. No matter what the cost is, I think he needs to go or Championship football will last a long, long time. We are going down this season.
Just kick and run like mon. No better than mcleish ffs
I wish it was that simple lionheart,we need some serious investment into the squad.if he’s not prepared to do it then fuck off back over the waters.
Watching the Villa is like suffering death by a thousand cuts at the moment. The whole club, from the owner down, seems to have succumbed to a paralysis which looks fatal for our chances of survival. After the disasters of the last few weeks, you would think that Lerner would face up to the fact that he either has to back his manager in the market, or sack him, but as of today’s date, there’s precious little indication that he’s prepared to do either. On the one hand, what we need more than anything is some continuity and stability at the club at manager level, but on the other hand, things have gotten to be so bad that you’d expect the manager to get the bullet… It’s like a circle that just cannot be squared, a lose-lose situation. Relegation is all over us like a nasty rash. It’s like watching Laurel and Hardy; we’re so utterly inept it’s comical.
All i can see mok79 is a man who is clueless waiting for his severance pay,are you for fucking real.
I do know what you mean. But I think its more to do with him not being able to manage the bigger name players and get his point 100% across to the younger boys. I fyou know what I mean. He can’t do what he did at Norwich and have no idea surely ??? Can He ????
Mok79, ‘he is a good manager and surely you can all see what he is trying to do?’, yes relagate us.
You never know maybe its in his Contract
)
Maybe Lerner is set to make back his millions if we get relegated.
I honestly think the problem is further up the chain like Faulkner and possibly Lerner himself.
Mok79 it doesn’t matter old or young,it’s amazing the bloke can manage to get out of bed in the morning & norwich fans were glad to see the back of him in the end.
Seems a bit harsh. The reality is Lambert is here to stay, so… it might be best to come to terms with him being around.
Personally it doesn’t matter who the manager is if upper management is not going to back the manager, in a relegation battle nonetheless, then the blame lies with them. After yesterdays post game comments, clearly Lambert’s hands are tied with regards to transfers. Plus, I’m pretty if given the option he wouldn’t prefer to play the likes of Bannan and Ireland in the middle, but with the thin squad he has no choice. To be honest, any manager would have struggled with this squad and funds made available.
Mad in I get what your saying but bottom line is we were well beaten by a team with far less quality than ours. Their team cost 7.5k ffs. It shows lamberts players couldn’t cut it in league 2 let alone the prem. lamberts signings like Bennett lowton and even vlaar are not good enough and never will be. Benteke his only decent signing will be of in the summer as Lerner can’t wait to cash in and he can’t wait to go to his beloved arsenal. The club is a disaster I never seen it as bad as this not even in the old 3rd division
I think we can all agree the squad isn’t good enough. Out of Lambert’s signings, personally only KEA is the one that really looks like a bad bit of business to me. Lowton is better than Hutton and Bennett is no more a risk than Warnock. Although for me it’s not an issue of the new signings disappointing, but rather the players coming through and the experienced players at the club. These are the players who should have no excuses performing, but our youth look lost and our experienced players just don’t seem up for it.
I will still get my ST regardless unless for financial reasons i can no longer afford one, i love the villa and i get round the bend in the summer without it. i will always love and support Aston Villa but i dont have to like how they are being ran and what is going on behind the scenes., if that makes me fickle then i shall start posting as Morgan Fickle
Fair play that’s your choice and Lerner relays on people like you to buy st even though he dosnt give a shit. I’d rather spend my money and support a local non-league to be honest which I will do if we go down. At least il get my fix without putting money into Lerner’s pockets
I dont blame you mate, i dont think you will be alone, people will turn awauy in droves simply because they are sick of the way the club is being ran.
Correct Morgan. It’s not about supporting a club who will win everything in site if we want that then support Manchester clubs. But a team like villa should be at least playing decent football each week, winning more than they lose and when we do lose make sure that team have played lights out football to beat us. Lerner has totally fucked this club over I’m afraid. American owners are the worst as they have no idea how the English game works and misjudge the fans. Lerner couldn’t even cope with running a usa club in his own back yard. Really hope he sells until then iv had it with putting money into his pocket
Fair play to you morgan,i understand because ive been there mate.
Sorry marvin i ain’t in a sympathetic mood mate.
Fair play to Bent only fair to give footballers credit where credit is due. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2267119/Darren-Bent-donates-1-000-allow-Zane-Smith-fly-America-treatment.html
Putting football matters to one side fairplay to benty for his donation, good on him.
All this crap about “lambert will bring us back up”. How often do managers that go down, bring team back up? It is rare as they have lost the dressing room by then.
I bet bolton fans said the same about Coyle last year and look how much harm it did to their season. Lambert does not deserve another game as manager for the shame he has brought on the club. But then again nothing surprises me when it comes to dumb (lerner) and dumber (faulkner).
LAMBERT OUT, LERNER OUT, FAULKNER OUT
Looks like lerners brief to lambert was to build a squad for next year I. The championship hence the reason why he won’t be sacked
Belcs unfortunately there all with us for the long haul now,gut wrenching i know.

That’s player passion for the club
That is an amazing photograph, I hope he gets VIP treatment by the FA for the final
