Denis_B has submitted this interesting article, looks at Villa’s history as well as our present. But more importantly this is a message to You, Mr Randy Lerner
I have been a regular at B6 since November 1965 and have seen many ups and downs over that time. I was part of the ‘revolution’ in the late 60′s and was a firm supporter of V.F.C. in 1990′s.
I have been to Mansfield, Wrexham and Notts County in the 3rd Div. days and Highbury and Rotterdam in the 1980′s and saw all our glory.
I have experienced, loved and hated everything a Football Club can do to a person.
Partly through no fault of your own you have never and will ever experience what many thousands of Villa fans and I have experienced.
You came to our club in 2006 in a blaze of glory with your ‘sidekicks’ telling us how wonderful it was going to be. You re-invented our club badge (by consulting the fans) you set up Supporters consultation groups (what’s happened to those) and you were happy for your chosen Messiah to run the revolution his way. He failed.
You changed the goalposts causing O’Neill to leave and the made in my opinion 2 disastrous managerial appointments.
You apparently have listened to the fans with the appointment of Paul Lambert. He is now struggling with problems that pre-dated his appointment and needs financial support to get us in a position of at least safety – wow, how exciting!
I believe it is about time you showed some sign of interest and passion towards us, fans by having the common courtesy to address us on what the current situation is with this club and what your short/medium and long terms plans are. Not your best friend and confidante Paul Faulkner but YOU Mr Lerner – our owner and supposed saviour.
One of the drivers behind the 1960′s revolution was that the club had been taken away from the hands of the man in the street and a small band of ‘gentlemen’ were running it for their own ends. What we have now is a worse situation where ONE man and his family trust are running OUR club for their own ends.
I accept you have put money into this club, probably from your father’s trust fund. However the last three matches I have witnessed at B6 have cost me a total of over £200 for my daughter and I to attend. I can assure you that is a lot bigger % of my earnings than what you have invested and I can’t get that back in hidden charges and interest payments or returns on my loans.
This club is seemingly now in a downward spiral with you as it’s pilot and if the many rumours are true we can look forward to no activity in this window compounding the problems further.
If you expect me to put more of my HARD EARNED money into your club then I want to know what it is going to be used for and what your plans are.
Many people say you are camera shy and do not like publicity however your actions now are bordering on contempt and arrogance towards what your predecessor called ‘The man on the terraces’
Get from behind your sofa, tell us what is going on or do what you said when you took over – if you can’t do the proper job as a custodian move over.
LERNER – YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU
Dear Mr Lerner are you in there.?
Are you alright ?
Have you fallen off the toilet?
Its the football club,Mr Lerner.
Remember you bought it one week ,when you were bored.
Its going down the pan.
What shall we do Mr Lerner ?
No,no,we re not The Browns, you sold them.
Aston Villa ,Mr Lerner, dont you remember.
An english club.
You went there once.
Mr Lerner
Mr LERNER ????
LOL
Off Topic but- According to Mat Kendrick PL’s looking at playing 4 up front tonight.
Good.
Get at them from the off and if we can match the first half effort of Saturday we’ll blitz them.
As for Lerner, you cannot knock his intentions, and indeed investment, but he does seem the sort to need a strong figure to guide the club off the pitch. We don’t have that at the moment.
If he has lost interest, it’s a worry as there don’t seem to be a queue of buyers as Newcastle and Everton have realised.
Those that have moved to alternate ownership haven’t all seen greener grass, or fresher chickens even.
thats a relief i thought he had been playing 8 up front recently
