Villa 0-1 Southampton; Sorry to say, but we’ve had it

I’m not really going to talk about the game, save to comment how it affects us.

Yes, we lost to a penalty that never was, but there’s more to it than that, in my opinion.

We are going down.

You can see the signs. They smack you in the face, just like one of Benteke’s elbows, when he’s climbing for the ball.

And it hurts.

You can see the willingness is there, but in my opinion, we simply aren’t good enough.

Yes, we created chances late on, but did anyone really think we were going to score? I certainly didn’t, because you just see the signs.

The first half, we were second best, simple. Where was the urgency? the fast closing down we displayed earlier in the season, that made us look like even if we weren’t quite good enough, any opposition side would have to at least work their balls off to beat us? There was none.

We created loads late on. But bear in mind, this was against one of the weakest defences in the league, that had also only won one game away up until today. How typical that Southampton got their second away win against us. It’s just another sign, isn’t it?

I suppose the good point is that we never conceded from open play. But when you consider that Southampton are struggling along with us, it’s not saying much.

I’m sorry, but I don’t see us turning this round. I don’t believe Paul Lambert has the ability or the tools to avoid us going down.

I’m seriously hurting today and am looking where to point the finger as to what’s happened to our great club.

I haven’t quite worked that one out yet, but I suspect I know.

  1. Failed to score in the last 5 homes games, record score conceded against Chelsea, beat by Wigan and Southampton both at home, thrashed by fourth division Bradford How is this clueless man STILL our manager ?

    • I agree he should be sacked today..It wont help the team but by keeping him it also wont help the team. There should be no reward for failure him and his team has brought shame upon our once great club.

Do the honourable thing Lambert and resign!!!!!

  2. I’ve rarely came out of a villa match angrier than I was yesterday. Not just angry with our situation, league position, ownership, lack of direction. No even with a beleaguered defence, wide open and all over the shop, and often architects of our own downfall. Mainly with our total inability to score. I had to ask the question when was the last time I had even seen villa score at home and I realised, were talking about how shocking the defence is but our attack is diabolical.

Personally I think it’s time to drop benteke, as we’re just becoming a shit small Heath long ball team, and were playing lazy pumping the ball to him. Keep him on te bench and maybe bring him on, but he needs bringing back down to earth.

On the penalty, yeh it’s cheating but can anyone say they would not take one of our players doing that and getting the 3 points yesterday? Exactly. If not your as naive as our defence. Who could have cleared the ball well he even got a chance to cheat, if they were a load of panicking kids shitting themselves.

What’s worrying is, we seem to lose the ball anywhere on the pitch and the other team look liable of moving the ball 70yrds and getting a chance. That was a shit Southampton team yesterday with only their second away win and a dodgy defence. And we couldn’t score. New defence, new midfield, new attack.

The biggest error with this team to me is we’re building it around benteke, when we should be building it around Weimann. Who actually knows where the net is.

  3. Lamberts gotta go IMHO Bring back John Gregory on a temp basis
