Sleepwalking into Relegation

Ah well thats it.

We may be off Newsnow at the moment but it will not hide what a bloody mess we are.

Maybe some fans actually believe one ref decision changed the game but it did not. We were dire today, lets not hide behind a penalty on that, we would never have won. some VVilla fans maybe be deluded and blame the ref, I do not.

In fact we never looked a threat, OK at the end Benteke missed a sitter (yet again) but lets be honest to ourselves. Lets be honest to the football world this blog, we are going down, does anyone really pretend that it will not happen ?

We can blame Lambert, we can blame Lerner but what does that do ? We had to win today, we never, I said before if we lost we are DOWN and I have no reason to think we not go down, However fans, manager, players and owner think otherwise, we are indeed sleepwalking into the worse possible position.

We had a central midfield today (how the hell are VT readers giving Delph MOTM) that is not PL class and never will be. We have a defence petrified every time a team attack and a forward line where the best forward is played on the wing.

Going down, lets not any one doubt that.

  1. Its not unrealistic but we are on a bad run and slagging inexperienced players because they dont win every game does not help. It makes it much worse.

    • Why dont you wrap them up in a blanket and give them a dummy.
They are overpaid and are simply not good enough. Also most of them dont know how to battle so if average working class fans who pay good money to watch that shit they are entitled to boo and walkout when they want

  2. Here Here Naughtius and Morgan Villa. in a dream world some people ….

  3. gazz, like i said in a previous post the fans at VP this season for the most part have been outstanding this season. 32,500 yesterday against southampton with our current form, our prospects and the weather says it all and the crowd were behind em all the way.
once the final whistle has gone questions are quite rightly going to be asked.

  4. It cracks me up, some of you are saying you’ll support the team but you won’t support the owner? How’s that work then because I’ve always thought that to support the team you go to the games, you pay your money that then goes to the owner. Or I could be wrong of course, would appreciate it if somebody could throw some light on this for me because I’m convinced that if you support the team you’re supporting Aston Villa, if you support Aston Villa you’re putting money into the club, if you’re putting money into the club then it’s going into the owners bank account. So how does supporting the team without supporting the owner, unless you don’t go to the games of course, actually work?

Which then brings me on to another point, if you’re not at the game how are you supporting the team, I need to lye down for a while I think, I’m confused.com.

  5. ‘In fact we never looked a threat

Did you leave on the hour ?

We laid siege to the Saints area and were unlucky not to score.

I suppose that great saves and hitting the woodwork aren’t threatening in Ianrobo world, it doesn’t suit your agenda.

‘Maybe some fans actually believe one ref decision changed the game but it did not’.

And I do believe one refereeing decision changed the result of the game, had it been correctly called a dive, and Rodriguez carded, it would have been a draw.

Is that difficult for you Ian ?

    • A draw at home to Southampton? What a dream come true! The fact remains we couldn’t manage a goal against the relegation fodder again – you get no points for coming close to scoring sadly, you’ve actually got to stick it I the onion bag for it to count. Any one on here who claims you’re not a fan unless your prepared to waste money you haven’t got watching that is a piss taker. I was there yesterday and wished I wasn’t. I’ve been home and away with villa, the club I love for over 30 years and this team is going down. We are showing no signs of getting any better either. All the teams around us picked up points yesterday and we looked clueless after the first ten minutes. I agree with the sentiments of B6 as I will still support the team if they end up in the championship but that doesn’t mean I can’t slag this shower of shit off.

      • we haven’t managed a goal at home in the league in a long time

      • We’re all disappointed with the standard of football at the moment, I was making a direct reference to Ian’s loaded article.

A draw would have been better than a defeat, we wouldn’t be in the relegation zone.

I too watch them home and away so I don’t know where your little rant has come from.

  6. thing is the season isn’t about losing to Southampton at home, or Wigan, its about the inadequacies of a coach who can only achieve 6 wins in 20 odd games, a bloke whose combined coaching structure can’t get a load of athletes to carry out basic marking on the field, coaches that have not sorted out how to get the team to defend dead ball situations, who use tactics that don’t work, or don’t exist. Meanwhile, like with Mon, those fans who bought into the Lambert dream keep making lame excuses for him as his incompetence escalates. No doubt when we are in the Championship, and he’s sitting enjoying his payoff, just as Mon did, those same fans will no doubt swear they never thought he was any good anyway, just as they did when Mon left so nicely.
The club is still trying to get over the shit Mon created, just as Celtic are, the finances are shot thanks to him and Lerner is trying his best to correct it. His one failure has been to choose some pretty lame managers to save the day, although with hindsight based on todays league position perhaps his previous choices weren’t as bad as most of us said.
