Eric Lichaj is contracted until the end of the year, and the question is; should Paul Lambert give him a contract? Well he is currently a rotation squad player and he is still young. I remember last year when he was rated, people saying that he deserves a chance; well this chance has now come around and after 27 appearances for Villa the question remains. Will we see him next season?
This is really tricky to answer because he is a right back and can play on the left; he is behind Lowton in the pecking order but it’s always good to have a back up player for that position. But at 24 years old, I wonder how long it’s going to be and if he even deserves one. My personal answer is no, he’s had his chance and hasn’t necessarily looked too good. I’m certain that Lambert could easily find another young right-back to play understudy to Lowton.
But let’s say that he is offered a new contract, how long should it be. Well he’s 24 now and decent players with that age will normally get a 3 year contract, if Lambert doesn’t fancy bringing in a new right-back then a one year contract should be on the cards. There’s no doubt that he won’t be sold in January, there’s no offers coming in. But if he’s a free agent I’m sure he could find a new club, but in the Championship. And that’s why I think he shouldn’t be offered a new contract. He’s Championship material.
Should this really be the topic of conversation after last nights disgrace? No.
Paul Lambert has brought this to a new low & should be sacked today. Before anyone says ‘and replace him with who?’, anybody is my answer because he hasn’t got a clue.

Lichaj’s contract is the least of our problems. The club should be focusing on finding a new manager who can line up some decent players. We need a new man in ASAP as we are down if lambert stays

I think Lambert has well and truly found out. A one season wonder in the Premier League and has an inability to cope with names bigger than his own.
Midfield and defensive couching skills are non existent. Also questionable transfer market skills and contacts.
But for me Lerner was the one who hired him. I dont believe for one moment he gave the fans what they wanted last year. PL had a bargain basement philosophy which matched Randy’s so that suited him just fine.

Unfortunatly i think whoever the manager is now nobody with any real talent would join Villa it would be carear suicide. As a side question What situation do you think we would be in if Houllier had not had his heart issues, even though the fans got on his back (Purely because o`neil had just left) i think we were actually going in the right direction by the time he had to leave, and i would say hand on heart i don`t think any of the current team would be at Villa now with the exception of bent if he had stayed, that alone would have been a huge improvement.
