Transfer Speculation: Tom Lees Being Monitored

Aston Villa are reported to be monitoring the progress of young Leeds defender Tom Lees. This is sort of a transfer rumour because Aston Villa aren’t in pole position nor talking to the club. The 22-year old England defender is very highly rated by Leeds and he has won admirers from the SPL, Championship and Premier League.

Tom Lees has played over 60 games for Leeds and has gone out on loan to Bury and Accrington Stanley where he made a combined 84 appearances. So this isn’t necessarily a very experienced defender.

Other clubs interested are: Celtic, QPR, Wigan and Cardiff.

This is a small link, but nonetheless those that love transfer rumours (such as myself) will enjoy this article. However, although he isn’t a player that Lambert will be particularly chasing, he is definitely being watched, but not for this transfer window. We’ve got the likes of Herd, Clark and Baker who seem to be similar to Lees.

Celtic could be set to firm up their interest in Leeds United defender Tom Lees

  1. Again no substance.
When will the pain end !

  2. When Lambert was at Norwich all he did was buy Leeds players

  3. I am surprised we haven’t got someone in or atleast being heavily linked to one player..

Southampton and Villa have been linked to Coutinhio from Inter.. but at the 9-10m price quoted i very much doubt it has any substance..

    • If Saints get Coutinho ahead of us, it will only push me another step away from Villa Park. I am sick of the way the club is run like some market stall. I don’t want to bankrupt the club but I am so bored with the sterile, unimaginative, ugly, weak, ugly, brittle, power-puff, oh so very untechnical garbage that has been served up for nearly 2 decades, with average, no touch, even less skill greedy, untalented and self-absorbed players

I am no fan of Lambert (due to his lack of defensive nous and his lack of eye catching flair) but was prepared to give him a chance but the faith in his has almost failed

  4. I’ve scoured twitter, the papers, sky ECT ECT for some positive transfer news befitting a club with the size, tophy winning, traditional top 5 all time greatest club AVFC and what do I find fuckin Tom Lees.Im embaressed Lerner we need cash now.UTV.I really want Lerner to look after us I hope he does he has in the past.

  5. Not really an eye opener,i would like to hear a more positive link.the clock is ticking.

  6. If he does the job then i am happy, yes we all want a Joleon lescott no we dont a player who is 34 passed it and draining the club of nearly 100k a week, that is what will happen if we get our wish granted this transfer window.

Also why has Mancini dropped Lescott mancini is not stupid he is not going to pick a weaker team at the risk of his job.

I dont think we are going to like all of the signings but i can see the point and agree to it albeit reluctantly, i have seen from an unreliable source that we might be in for Stefan reinartz a DM/CB from bayern leverkusen, normally i ignore these but this one looked right to me

  7. Been told that we are signing Yoann Gouffran from Bourdeaux, deal should be done in the next week. Can play wide or through the middle. Would be a good signing IMO

    • has anyone seen him play what type of player is he mate?

      • Pacy player, kind of similar to Gabby, tends to play centrally for Bordeaux but I could see him playing off Benteke. His contract runs out in the summer, so I wouldn’t expect the fee to be too high. Personally I would prefer Aubamayang from Ligue 1 as he is a better finisher overall

        • Gruffran is no Coutinho, Remy, Aubamayang, Bony or Belhanda! £6m? When we could get Aub for £8m! Makes no sense

  8. £5million and he’s yours MOT

  9. According to talksport we are lining up a £12m bid for Danny Graham, its a bit much and not what we need atm if at all

    • In a word… bollox.

Where do they dream these stories up from.. forward is the last thing we need… esp one that is similar to Benteke..

    • Why £12 million?
Sunderland are bidding a mere £4 million for him according to Telegraph.
If Bent was playing and scoring at usual rate for another team, how much would Lambert be offering for him ?
Bent and Benteke together can score the goals IF Lambert will accept the players are the big name stars, and Bent will score if you set up a team to kick the ball for him to race on to and/or cross it to his head in the box.
I would buy Troy Deeney at maybe £2 million from Watford as a scorer on the bench.
Graham has scored 3 goals in 15 games for Swansea this season. he scored 12 in 36 games last season. When Graham was at Watford he scored 38 in 91 games.
      Deeney is three years younger.
Graham is from the North-East. Deeney from Birmingham.

  10. How can Arry ‘the wide-boy second hand car dealer’ Redknap know a good player but no Villa manager since Ron Atkinson and Saunders before him, has any clue?
Sorry but even those who play football manger know who all the best players are across Europe!

    Rubbish!
