Weimann slags off Linesman on Twitter but gets it wrong

So Andi Weimann using his Twitter Account has had a go at the linesman today.

Andreas Weimann ‏@andiweimann
Thanks for killing the game linesman !!! #joke #disgrace of a decision !!

LINK

Now lets state this first. It was 100% NOT a penalty, it was a totally incorrect decision but it happens. However where he is totally wrong is to claim it killed off the game. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The club may want to hide behind that but once we conceded the first joke goal the game was over, that was it. There was never a chance of winning the game and we let it get to our heads.

If they want to look at that instead of the real problems then they will get it totally wrong.

  1. To all those fans having ago about the negativity being written, I challenge the ‘positive brigade’ to write a positive artile after our 5-0 defeat!

    • Fair point mate me/anon or Adam are more than happy to put a positive article up in the interests of a balanced site. Though whoever can see positives in this performance is either a genius or stupid!!

    • A young Villa side hastily assembled to try and repair the damage inflicted by MON and his reckless spending on predominantly over paid overrated shite, (an era that brought this club to its knees financially) loses to the biggest spending team in the history of world football and reigning champions due in the main part to some right ropey refing decisions, so what? What did you expect?

        • Cheers Langford- I’m logging off now cause I’m getting a bit wound up by some of the bullshit on here and if I don’t there’s a likelihood I’m going let rip and end up being banned. UTV!

          • Ul never be banned for having your opinion mate

          • Hate saying this about my own but Villa fans are stupid. I no longer want to associate myself with such a bunch pathetic ‘win now’ sky 4 mentality fools. You are right Billy. We are doing it the right way but nobody cares because you only have to lose one game and the daily mail style headlines appear for all the brain dead lemmings to jump up and support. Worst support in the country!? Just maybe!

          • Spot on Billy…………….the capitulation, final score and second half performance were all extremely disappointing, yet this is neither a turning point in our season nor a result to get hung up on. We were well beaten in a game and against a side which were expected to beat us well. We move on and hope the boys have the character to respond positively.

Our season will be defined by how we do against the sides around us and our home form this season.

Neither of the above are great to date and this really needs to be rectified as we are certainly among the 4 most likely candidates for the drop. Relegation, as much as it is a distinct possibility, is not a forgone conclusion by any means and that hasn’t changed because we got hammered in the champions back yard.

  2. Here here, there are now positives! Norwich beat united to compound todays missery. How sickening that is. Arsenal look to have found some form ah well a least we only got reading after that. Not being negative just statinhg the facts.

  3. just got back from man city ! TRUTH IS were in trouble ? cant keep making excuses lads norwich have a 1-0 lead against man u and win we had 2-0 lead and lost ! the kids may well come good but i am affraid it may be to late !! we need quality in jan mr learner or you will own a championship club ! i know we were playing the champions today so i am not just having a go on the back of today ! but that thrashing has been coming ! AVFC

  4. When will fans wake up ? This team is total sh*te. Its no good blaming O’Niell or McLeish they are long gone. Lerner is responsible for the state of the club he has not got a clue, no ambiton or desire to make Villa a force. We are in a worse state now than when he took over 6 1/2 years ago which takes some doing considering Ellis ran the club before he took over !. In the last two years all we have had is severe cost cutting we have seen top players sold and replaced with cheap inferior players in order to lower costs.Lerner is a total waste of space who could not give a toss about us supporters fans should see him for what he is, a joker !

    • Agreed mate we will never rise again until Lerner goes

      • There is absolutely no logic in your statement. Let’s just consider this …..

Let’s assume that Lerner is “in it for the money” (which I don’t believe) but on this occasion let’s assume it.

Let’s assume (for argument sake) that Lerner wants £200m for the Villa.

So, if a bloke with £201m comes along and buys the Villa for £200m, because he can see a really good way of making more money, are we better off?

        Of course we’re not.

What you are implying is not that you want Lerner to sell the Villa but that you want him to sell the Villa to someone with LOTS and LOTS of money.

Now, why would someone with LOTS and LOTS of money want to buy the Villa?

        • Fanbase and potential – not really. Second largest City in the UK who can’t even fill the ground every week when winning.

        • Assets – not really. Aston has no commercial potential.

          • Nor did Man City …

in fact at their takeover near recievership and did not even own a ground.

the difference is that kind of money changes, everything the Q I have to ask myself is do I want that, because there simply is no other way to succeed in this league now.

          • No reply button on Ian’s post so replying here….

So – do we measure success by Championships? How many have we had in the last 75 years?

So – do we measure it by FA Cup wins? How many have we had in the last 75 years?

If we hadn’t had the two glorious years in the 80s how could we say we had succeeded at anything?

We are, and always have been, a team who wins stuff occasionally and has not dominated football since the 19th century.

Therefore success is the occasional Cup Final/Win and a once-in-a-lifetime surprise.

  5. Just red pl comments blaming all the officials not a mention that we were outclassed by a far better team & we were shite. I heard hart was considering bringing on the sunlounger i dont know if it was to sit on or replace him. Utv.

  6. Pfmc doesn’t it piss you off when all we hear from the head honcho’s “we want to bring back the great old days back to vp ” it makes me sick & bored of the bollox money talks serious investment.

  7. it shows how far we have fallen that a result like that and our position in the league still has people defending the manager everyone new we would be relegated this season when they saw lamberts signings we will finish bottom i have no doubt.

  8. Ian your so anti Villa it’s unreal!

  9. Therefor ePaul we only won slightly more than Man City and yet they were brought

    • actually there record in League and FA Cup in the 20th Century is better than the Villa’s and obviously is better than the Villa’s in the 21st Century..

      • the EC win matches if not tops that

I do believe the day the Sheikh brought Man City was the day that the dream died for us.

It was then Randy knew the spare 4th place CL position that was available between us Spurs, Everton and Liverpool all roughly at the same level (Liverpool had massive issues then) was gone as MC were obviously going to spend and big.

Then the policy DID change which led to where we are now.

        • Man City won the European Cup Winners Cup which was always much harder to win as it had more games.

          • But the European Cup was played between the CHAMPIONS of each respective league, and not just the plucky cup winners. The UEFA Cup was the hardest to win because it contained the sides that were most consistent – anyone finishing 2nd in their league was likely to be a contender years on year.

The ship has sailed for a big spender to come in, what with the PL clubs agreeing financial fair play terms, as well as the newly agreed tv rights for 2013/14 onwards. Randy bought at the right time, and with the funds provided should have seen CL football returned by MON. Sadly, he spunked the cash on the floor with a squad full of over rated and overpaid wannabes, and then when the Oil money moved in, Randy knew his pockets were not deep enough.

It’s sad that we’ll never again see teams like the Forest side that Cloughie got promoted and then went on to win the First Division and 2 European cups with. Sides built with a blend of capable players, a product greater than the sum of their individual parts.

These days, the top clubs, those with £££ stockpile the players on salaries greater than lesser clubs can afford. The outcome is the tiering that is evident today.

Sadly, to be a well run club again, there’s been an awful lot of shit-shedding, an the outcome is that we are struggling to compete with clubs like WBA, Stoke, Swansea even Norwich, because they started life by bein well run, and have built on that with the increased revenues that PL football has brought.

Say what you will about Douglas Ellis, but AVFC were in good shape off the field, if not always on it.

Randy’s initial gambit failed, and now he’s trying to be prudent.

I agree with sentiments that we new to spend in Jan. we need a player with the qualities o a Nigel De-Jong. Someone who will make the opponents play at a higher tempo in midfield. That’s when mistakes are made, and possession turned over.

There’s enough quality in the side to stay up, but we need to earn the right to win games, and that means some bite in midfield.

For now, we have to keep on keeping on, and as fans support the club. To me that means to stand on the sidelines and cheer the team on. They don’t need to be told that the standard isn’t good enough when they’ve lost 5-0. They don’t need barracking at half time in the first home game of the season, especially the youngsters. They need encouragement and support to go on and improve, to want to play for AVFC, to want to get a move to a big club, because if they’re doing we’ll enough to catch the eye of the bigger sides, then they’re doing the right things for us, which can only improve us.

The naysayers and head hunters among you, we’ll whilst you might have the interests of the club at heart, your ideas and shortsightedness are just catalysts for the outcome that you want to avoid.

And for anyone suggesting that we should go and get ‘Arry before QPR do, I think you need to take a walk, breathe in some air, sober up an realise that he won’t ever manage our club due to the fact that we’re more than 2hrs drive from his home, and he doesn’t like the fans.

  10. This result was always on the cards, to be fair we held them well until their 1st goal then we went to pieces.. Centre mid is a massive issue we need a boss man in there and a mobile playmaker with experience! Get gabby on the bench and find a proper winger and a new centre back to parter vlaar all this in jan is a must if we want to be safe this year. Worrying signs though

  11. Wieman stood and watched their first goal, well done lad lovely view u had.

  12. Bunch of idiots on here. It disgusts me. I’m ashamed to face the fact that we are the worst, most whingey, miserable pathetic supporters in the premier league. Cue accusations of me being a dirty blue nose. The truth is you lot are destroying my One true passion in life which is the villa. And I guarantee that when lambert gets up into the top half of the league, which he will, no e of you will have the humility to admit that you were just impatient fools!!!!!

  13. Ps – it did kill the game!! Of course it did. Ian you are such a hypocrite. All along you said if we got PL it would take time but we would get there. You were right but why can’t you just stick with what you said!? Are you that desperate for sensationalist headlines!?

  14. going down get used to it we are shite no leaders , no passion , no hope ,down by march clueless management over the last 3 years includind chief executive and chairman .if lambert keeps villa up he should be manager of the season .

    • Anyone remember losing 5-0 away at Blackburn and 4-0 at home in ’97/98? We also lost home and away to Wimbledon that year, a team that no longer exist. Aston Villa F.C. are bigger than one or two seasons, bigger than a bad start to the season, bigger than John Carew, bigger than me and you…

The villa team this year is the most exciting and full of potential we have had in ages. There are no signs of any journeymen playing for the wages, each and every one of the lads looks like they’re giving 110% in every game. Lambert and Learner have put together a squad of players who are desperate to pull on the shirt and cross the line on to the battlefield for Villa week in week out whilst managing the debt incurred by MoN (who built a good team but a dreadful squad by squandering money on some appallingly bad footballers). I want the club to continue to exist more than I want them to fill the squad with players that don’t want to bleed for the shirt. A season or two ago I would have put Stephen Ireland in that category but his transformation under Lambert has been a revelation.

Not a single person who follows football would have expected Villa to get something out of yesterday so it can only be the number of goals conceded that is upsetting people. I appreciate that conceding 5 goals is never going to be fun but every team outside of the top 3 can expect to take a pasting at some point in the season and 3 points is 3 points regardless of how many you lose by. The Barclays Premier League has the most apt sponsor possible as the game has become about money. I would never want to see Villa run in the way some are suggesting we should be by a bonkers billionaire with a huge ego who has no exit strategy for when they get bored of their latest toy. Randy Learner is a goid businessman who is right to want to protect his family’s fortune and run the club in a prudent manner to ensure we have a bright financial future. Aston Villa is a club with history, tradition and class, which I would like to remind people, is permanent. We will turn it around, we will come good, we won’t win the league in the next 5 years or likely in the 5 years after that, but if you support the Villa (and I’ve questioned why anyone would support a club for life many times – different owner, players, badge, stadium to when I started back in the dreadful season of 1985/6 – but continue to against my better judgement as I can’t stop loving the Villa), if you support the Villa, then do just that. Get behind the lads for every minute of every game. The support at Fulham and Spurs was incredible, at the Man Ure game the place was rocking until they got one back and the fans’ anxiety off the field was clearly translated to our team of young lions on it. Back the team, it’s the only one we have and they’ll play better with your support than without it. Rant over. Keep the faith. UTV. VTID.

      • “The villa team this year is the most exciting and full of potential we have had in ages”

        are you still hungover ?

There is no Young, Milner or Barry amongst this lot, never mind the BFR years and most of the BL years.

As for the debt you mentioned , no club runs up debts because of the manager, the club allowed him to spend it, there was no cost control and then it was stopped, just like that.

and now we are going for the cheap aand young route against a background of no experienced core is a disaster.

        • LMFUCKINAO …… you said Barry !!! most overated left back ever who clearly isn’t a top notch midfielder as he and MON seemed to think ie: the three goals that Germany put past us in the World cup stemming directly from him and the Champions League shambles he has put in for City over the last two seasons.

          • the same BArry who dominated us and we have never recovered from losing him. The same one who has picked up medals we can only dream on.

I know some of you hate MON but lets ditch and diss all the good times we had because of that

          • Ian, Barry didn’t dominate us ??? did you actually go to or watch the game ? Yaya Toure, Nastasic and Silva dominated us not Barry ……anyone would look good with those three around you …….. Barry served our club well, he deserves the medals he got because he is a model pro, but he is one of the most overated players around, he is Mr Dependable and a yes man … but definately not world class.

          • not sure anyone would claim world class but he did dominate in a low key effectual way .. Yes alongside others but he provides a solid base, the type of midifielder KEA can only dream of being

  15. I was at the game, we were well in it until the penalties then the young heads dropped, just step back and remember, we were playing a £220m+ team full of world class individuals with a bench that probably cost £100m on their own turf where they haven’t lost any games, what do you expect ???? We had the same amount of shots on target as them and made it difficult for them to plat for the first part of the game, but when a team like that go 3-0 up with help from officials then anyone is up against it. Our season won’t be defined by losing to the top two sides in the country, it will be decided at Villa Park against Reading, Southampton, Sunderland, QPR, Stoke, Wigan etc …. then on to the summer and some more players in to build on. UTV VTID

    • Agreed Milan, we were unfortunate not to take the lead in fairness.

Not saying that we would have held on to it, but at least we have a side that tries to get something out of a game this season.

We won’t go down playing as we have at home so far, and I think we’ll get goals against Arsenal having watched some of their match yesterday.

Randy was naive to back a manager with limited ability with an abundance of money. We’re now all paying the price.

If Lambert builds a fairly young side into something significant, good luck to him.

You can’t take most of the posters on this site too seriously.

They can’t wait to slag off Benteke for saying he likes Arsenal, Stevens for being Irish and shit, and any Lambert buy as total crap.

You can sense a real air of disappointment when Villa win, or play reasonably well. ?This site is never quieter than after an away win at Sunderland. The slating they got after the Man U game shows how unrealistic some are.

Seems to be a real ‘I only liked watching us when we were good and at the top and winning cups. I can’t be bothered now we’re struggling, and we’ll never get above the billionaires’.

If that’s the case, bugger off and leave the rest of us to watch the team we support through thick and thin.

  16. Dear,
RTVTID, Adam, Jonvilla, Hookie98, Astonmilan and Vaze (and others of a similar disposition).

Thank heaven that there are still some considered people in the world who don’t “want it now” and who don’t change their opinion on all things Villa-related with the latest result. Without commenting point-by-point on your posts above all I can say is that I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments and philosophies. It’s also such a nice counterpoint to the normal misanthropy that drives so many of the posts on here.

    cheers and thanks .. Paul

  17. Anyone with common sense could see that after the first pen we were angry and justly so but still tried then all of 2mins later ANOTHER SHOCKING decision which led to another penalty simply killed any hope we had and that is a FACT.

The players were angry as was the manager we were beaten soundly after we gave up and considering we never even got a shout with the officials it cost us the game…The fact is we move on, that team cost Man City £300m+ and are the current champions we may not have won we were written off by everyone but those awful decisions cost us and for me the official should be held to account as neither was correct or just.

Ian I have said it before stop writing articles cos your opinions and statements have more holes than swiss cheese, You chop and change every time and your articles are nothing more than sensationalist claptrap.

I would like to also be added to PAUL’s brigade of those that cannot get over how negative you can be.

  18. Well done yet again ianrobo for finding another scapegoat to give you an excuse to hammer all things Aston Villa.

Weimann was correct in all he said, but your blinkered view chooses to ignore the fact that he was pushed as he jumped, and we should have got a free kick for that, not a penalty against us for a phantom handball.

You should also be berating the linesman and referee, but no, your hate for our club is so bad that you would sooner rip into one of our players for telling the truth.

Just do us all a favour and walk away from Villa, and even football as you hate that so much also.

    • yeah thats right I hate Villa, grow up eh ?

actually what I do hate are people using excuses to avoid the truth we see and have seen for the past few years

      • And what have you seen Robbo? RL throwing buckets of money at your hero MON in blind faith and trust only for your hero to shit in Randy’s cornflakes and walk away when he’s told-hang on a minute, more money while you’ve got two a penny muppets sitting in the reserves? Ok we didn’t like GH and his Liverpool lovefest did him no favours with the faithful. Then we hated AM (no need to go into that one) but now you suggest we jump on your anti PL bandwagon? Sorry but I just don’t buy into it, get over MON and accept all you are seeing is his legacy.

  19. Here Here Kranky

  20. I agree entirely with Andi
In fact,I would like to shove that gold plated C*** of a linesmans flag so far up his arse,he d think he was a shish kebab.
Blind bastard should never ref a game ever again.
    He should definately be investigated…
