If Ole has indeed ruled himself out, this could turn into the biggest conspiracy theory quagmire since the Kennedy assassination!
My stab at it is that Solsksjaer was the number one target on the list, and was up for it. The story got out as it was sure to do (thanks to the Lerner planespotters), and Ole’s position was badly compromised at Molde. He needed L and F to move quickly so he made the right noises, but they started fannying about, and he got cold feet…
Or maybe Lerner told him he’d give him two bob to spend on the squad next season, and Ole’s ruptured his spleen laughing…
Or maybe Ole would like the move, but his family don’t fancy somewhere that isn’t Manchester or London…
Or… well, I dunno any more. With L and F at the helm, you start to wonder what our chances of getting a decent man in much before three days before the new season kicks off actually are. Why is it that everything that this pair try to do turns into something like a panto at the Hippodrome?
Why so quick to do your own club down? The simple answer is by far the most likely – when he knew that he was being seriously considered, he talked to everyone involved and decided the time wasn’t right to come back to England so soon after taking his family to Norway. He withdrew before it was offered because he’s a decent guy. It shouldn’t have got out but the only people that affected was us. No reflection on the club or OGS.

Ha! You may be right about that conspiracy theory- Personally, I still eager to see that club statement for either Molde or Villa. I wish OGS well regardless, he has a bright future where ever he’ll end up.
I don’t think the Club have mismanaged this at all. They said they would announce something when there was news; all this OGS stuff has been fuelled by plane spotters & guesses promoted as 100% truth. Who knows what is happening – Lerner could be 90% towards appointing someone completely different – who knows, right?
