As we head into the Sunderland game it will surprise no-one this rises again.
The Mirror are claiming Sunderland still want Gabby and that we will be asking £12M for him.
After the Bas Dost post I suggested that one forward maybe on his way and to Villa who is the least important, Gabby or Bent ? I know Gabby has not done a lot recently but I firmly believe he is injured and his movement is showing this. I have ALWAYS been a stronger supporter of his and would hate to see him go.
However given the current financial situation at Villa I see no alternative.

I like McCleish, I feel he deserves more time. He is a straight talker and he has our team fighting. He hasn’t been given a great deal of money. The summer will be important and I feel after a good pre-season with a few new arrivals we will be a success under his leadership. I’m thinking we could sign Doyle from Wolves, Yakubu from Blackburn and Taylor Fletcher from Blackpool. We need more options up front and with Agbonlahor moving to further his career, it’s a must we buy smart and not overspend like we did on Bent.
Come on Villa and McCleish, I believe in you, even if a minority of our fans do not.
If you believe it is a minority we will see how the ST sales go in the Summer when i am sure the debate will be the main thing between club and fans

Actually, I am a Villa supporter, I suggest you all look up the definition “supporter”. I get behind the team and the manager. Complaining and being negative all the time is what has gotten us in this mess. It’s about time we just knuckled down and got behind the players. McCleish has done ok on a tight budget, we’ve had major injuries and the fans have been on his back since he was first appointed. I think we’ll be better off when the sky boys decide not to renew their season tickets and us proper supporters continue to do what we do best, support the team through thick and thin.

Hutton and CNZ have not worked because they both play and succeed in attacking formations and tactics, these 2 cost us 12-13m and have both been shoved into a defensive team. I have seen hutton play well elsewhere and he is known to wonder, these are both AM signings and have not worked, they have not worked because the tsctics do not suit them, the tactics from the manager who signed them.

Fairplay if that is your point of view but the fact is the holte end is empty, all fans of all clubs moan. I even heard a few Spurs fans on talk shite the other night saying Harry should go. Its football its how it works, the thing is Spurs will be full week in week out if Harry is there manager. The reason because he sets his teams out to win, if McLeish is manager of any club there stadium will never be full, Its as simple as that. Like i said before ST sales will speak for themselves, I personally believe with this team we should be safe by now and somewhere between 9 and 12th, and had a good crack at the bigger teams with some great football, this has not happened all season with exception of the Arsenal game. I was at the Chelsea game and tbh we were lucky Chelsea looked dangerous throughout the game, and we had a couple of lucky breaks and somehow we got ssomething, the frightening thing is if Alex mcLeish read this, i think he would be elated in thinking his dodgy,awful, unwinnable tactics had worked 15 wins out of 70 matches speaks for itself, an empty Holte End does the same thing as well
“Harry sets his team out to win”. Harry Redknapp has assembled a squad that can call on players like Kranjcar, Defoe, Saha and Lennon from the bench. He has spent in excess of £100m on new players and they already had a very capable side when he arrived (only a year or so before they had just missed out on the Champions League).
Take this from me. The unhappiness will not go away for very long if McCleish is sacked. The next manager will get exactly the same treatment. I’m unsure what Villa fans expect these days but we’ve been on the decline for years, no help to many of our negative fans. The Holte end is like a morgue. I realise performances haven’t been great but we are so result orientated it is as if we are Man Utd or Chelsea. We’re not, we haven’t won anything for years and don’t look likely to.
We’ve got to dig in deep and get behind the players. If we’re divided, it’s not going to help anyone, let alone the team.
I want to watch decent football, this is the only time i have ever turned on the club. I dont care where the manager came from either. Spurs have always had decent sides that have under perfromed, regardless of finances Redknapp would never empty a stadium he never has, he started at Bournemouth and has made a success at all clubs, albeit Southampton.

I would bite your hand of for £12 mil. Gabby is overrated and overpaid. We should play Bent and weimann upfront and use that 12 mil on 2 or 3 new defenders. I reckon we should look more at Championship players due to their lower wages and there is definitely some quality in that division. P.S I think the fans need to lay off McLeish a bit bcus in fairness to him, he has inherited a very average squad with little money to spend. I think Zog will come good and I think Hutton has improved in recent weeks, McLeish needs time to overhaul his squad and getting rid of him would achieve very little bcus no other manager would want the job and with the players we have, not many manager would do better, some fans need to get real and accept we have a bottom half squad and that’s the way it’s gonna be unless we have stability.
