Hate all these weeks off, hate it and totally bored without a game and seems ages till the next home game.
Suppose it could be worse and we could be Wolves fans !! However let no one be under any doubt that a loss on Saturday is a serious problems for Villa. You only have to look at this run of fixtures and the points on the table to see what a defeat would do and of course what a boost the win will do.
Of course at the JJB/DW we have a very good record and one that must be one we can gain some confidence from. It is also clear that away from home we play with a certain freedom and panache that is missing from the home games. As for the team news we have some injuries and Dunne is a massive missing presence but with the return of Herd and Gabby we do have some options. to pick the team for this is very difficult but here goes
Given
Hutton, collins, Cuellar, Warnock
Herd Petrov
N’zog Gabby
Keane Bent
Yes Mcleish will play Gabby, Keane and Bent and this is the only way I think that could work if it does. Many have the sharpened knives all ready for 5PM tomorrow, as my last match preview as the editor of this blog I hope we will go out on an high.
I expect a comfortable 2-0 win
Aston Villa News 24/7
It’s got draw written all over it. Martinez knows the pressure that the pink one is under and will go for it early doors.
Throw in the fact that our “super defensive” leader has failed to yet coach the defence properly and suspect we will be down early on with a draw snatched later. Then the useless pink tool will be on MOTD bemoaning one players inability to defend properly but praise our grit.
Hmmmmmm, did I just make that up or have we seen / heard it a number of times before!!!!
OUT!!!!!!!!!!
We should defend better tomor without Dunne making his usual mistake thou if warnock plays then we won’t keep clean sheet as he is just as bad.
Them Bone brains have had their chance – play
Guzzan
Lichaj Collins, Cuellar Baker
Herd Gardener
N’zog Gabby
Keane Weimann
Subs to come on when we are 3-0 up
Bannan
Ireland
Albrighton
Min 9 points from next 3 games
After third Match F*** Ginger off anyway and give the job to – Dont know its been a bad season the football brains losing the will to live.
‘as my last match preview as the editor of this blog I hope we will go out on an high.’
you off then Ian??
as editor of this blog, yep, will still send in contributions if I get someone to take over
why are packing it in? For the record, I’ve really enjoyed your stuff.
personal reasons mate
Sorry to hear that mate. Will miss this site for sure.
Sorry to hear ‘personal reasons’ and hope all is well Robo, but this blog has lost its way opinion wise. Even VV regulars have seen the light regarding our crap manager. Up The Villa Revolution. And f*** sitting on the fence.
gna miss this! sorry to hear your off mate! best vila blog read everyday and get the best gossip and match previews! will be missed mate!! come bk soon!!!
no worries, best of luck and hope you get back into it someday, take care mate
I’m hoping he taps N’Zog to start as maybe he’ll be pumped for this match which will inspire SOMETHING in regards to his play. Might be the hump to get over. Good to hear that Cuellar is getting attention from Villa now. I would love to see Keane/Bent up front too.
As mentioned before by others, Keane has a great sense of the pitch. He’s not one dimensional like Bent and Gabby. Bent is a poacher, but does little else. Just watch a match where we can’t get him the ball. Gabby is great at running down the line, but if that fails, then what does he do? Oh ya, he keeps trying to run down the line. Keane on the other hand isn’t afraid to play more in the middle, and can create for other players. This was supposed to be N’Zog’s thing when he came in, but it hasn’t worked out like that. PLus Keane has an eye for the goal. Almost always on target.
Villa 1-0. UTV
I think you’re spot on, and hope the prediction is right.
Out of interest, are you a fan of Interpol?
I saw a cracking early Interpol gig in a room of 100 people off Brick Lane, armed with a bottle of red wine. Stunning! And Peaches a week later at the same venue…
Wow, that must have been early on! I saw them in a medium venue in 2004 and then a small one (not as small as yours) in 2007. Great shows all around.
Yes, most definitely a fan – though I don’t listen to them much anymore now that Carlos D has left. I hate when the original energy gets messed up!
So you’ve now gone from “no way we will get relegated”, to being worried?
That’s how it seems
I’ll miss the game, because I have to work in the shithole that is London tomorrow
2-0 to us?
I hope you’re right, but don’t see it.
More importantly (given that we’re a load of shite and dead boring at the moment) how’s it going getting someone to take over?
just waiting for confirmation
London is the finest and most exciting City in the world. Only the ignorant who’ve never lived there call it a shithole… But Villa are clearly the finest footbal club on the planet…
Please don’t jack in ian you are a LEGEND!
Ian I love u
Yeah I hope whatever it is works out for you mate. We haven’t always seen eye to eye but I’ve really enjoyed the blogs for a long time now and they have been a nice place to escape to for a bit of a release from the daily grind
best of luck.
be surprised if he starts Herd after being out 3 months. More likely to be Gardner i would think. Think you’re right about Gabby though, he will be back in even though it messes the formation up completely. Another dire game in prospect that we may win if we counter-attack well. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz MCLEISH OUT!!
If AMC had any balls Given Lichacj Cuellar Collins Baker Albrighton Gardner Ireland Nzogbia Bent Keane – To be honest as long as Heskey is picking up tracksuits and playing waterboy I don’t care what the 11 is.
Learn from your previous mistakes AMC.
Anything but a win is a disgracful result.
The reason we are supposedly better away from home is due to McLeish being a one dimensional, one trick, one plan manager.
Nothing to do with the crowd.
As for it could be worse we could be wolves? Us appointing McLeish was way more embarrasing than them appointing Connor!
Tick tock tick tock time is running out for mcleish
