Injuries hit Villa, for fans of Blues this is familiar

Today may well be a watershed of this season.

Up until today any injury issues had been OK because they fell in the right place. In that we had cover for say Gabby or others so not so much a problem. However today we learnt that Clark has a knee ligament injury and will be out for ‘weeks’ and that Dunne dislocated his shoulder (EDIT – appears to be a broken collar bone) and ‘at least’ a month out.

Now of course this means for some bloody crucial games we will be missing Clark in defensive midfield and Dunne in central defence. Anyone looking at us now will see the obvious issues this will now create especially s Chris Herd is not ready yet.

What will now scare people is that at this stage last season Mcleish at blues started to suffer injuries in key areas. Many people defending Mcleish blamed these injuries for why they went down, is history repeating itself ? this now becomes a problem as the next three games are vital for villa to ensure we are not dragged into a relegation battle and now we have injuries in key areas.

This should worry many of us for the forseeable future as defensively much better today and now we have to change it all again.

  1. The bloke is clueless and well out of his depth.
We must move heaven and earth to get rid of this idiot.

  2. I’m glad you’re beginning to realise that we are not safe from relegation yet. It will be a tough end to the season but if we stay up this season then I really fear for next season.

  3. Sorry Ian, not sure why your too worried, as you have kept telling me, we are in no danger of relegation… would you like to change that though :)

  4. ian lets not say that our season has depended on injuries most people have slated dunny last few weeks now he is out its ohhhhh factor carlos to centre back and herd right back and drop hutton.. that was my favourite word totally inept yet again 5 mins to half time darren bent is 30 yds from our goal callig for ball.n zogbia and ireland dropped albrighton looked evrything but a premiership player.. every season a team slides down lwague hull blackpool.. are we next and our next few games wigan blackburn bolton west brom now they are fucking six pointers head in sand guys and randy cant dip into market for an 18 million pound player what we have is it and i for one can see even some of them dont want to play for him and lines then come out about signing new players in summer randy uou have made a mess of this bigtime put it right before fans turn on you…

  5. Herd will be back for next game
We have baker to step in, warnock, and cueller to play some part too.

We are getting to bare bones, thats why he is hinting at delph returning.

  6. Clark, im worried about, Dunne is a blessing. awful defender, and has been since he arrived. there was a reason city sold the fat lazy arrogant useless helmet. we have a shocking defence, even an untrained chimp can see that, so what type of helmet manager would play a defnsive game with these utter clowns. Houllier knew how crud they were and thats why they got a shitty on when he dropped em. Yet this div still plays them. If he stays we will get relegated. only a helmet as delusional as McLeish thinks we are safe.
The fact that McLeish was appointed is like someone emptying the contents of a bedpan over every Villa fan’s head

    • Agreed ballbag houllier had Dunne well sussed and he wasn’t too subtle in letting the lump know what he thought. He would have had Dunne and warnock out the club if he had stayed that’s why they caused chaos in the dressing room.

  7. Ian, if I take the emotion out of it, then yep, we were better defensively today, but still got done at a set play, and as Anon put on the other thread, no point in setting the defence up if you don’t genuinely try to make a go of the game, at home we should not be playing for a point, irrespective of the opposition, AM out.

  8. Ian Dunne being out for a month is great news and only thing good about today. The guy is useless and was partly responsible yet again for goal as he was to late in challenging lescott. Wev still got Collins and cuellar and Nathan baker at least they won’t make mistakes week in week out.

  9. OMG, Dunne was great today!
As was the whole defence most of the time.
What is it with you Oohaah?

You’re so biased against him, it’s a joke mate.
Your usual shit of “always has a mistake in him” is the only comment that’s more boring than “AM is shit”!

Whatever, no worries, as Ian says there’s no way we will go down (sarcastic smiley).

    • Just can’t stand the guy anon3 he does make regular mistakes u can’t deny that and had been doing it for past 18 months. We defended well as a team today coz Am parked the bus in front of goal and we still conceded from a set piece that Dunne was partly responsible by switching of when lescott scored he left him unmarked. He does play well for most of game but always seems to cost us a goal as he is not a 90 min plus player. The other thing I don’t like about him is the way he led a dressing room revolt last season against houllier just because houllier had him sussed. He set a poor example to the club, the fans and younger players. The guy is a disgrace. And warnock and Collins are not too far behind him.

      • “when lescott scored he left him unmarked”

Bloody hell, that was down to Collins!

“The other thing I don’t like about him is the way he led a dressing room revolt last season against houllier just because houllier had him sussed”

        Rubbish, imo.

I’d say it was the other way round.

You really shouldn’t believe the stuff you read from the Villa PR crap.

        • Anon, you make an awful lot of sense with what ever you write, even when I don’t always agree, but it’s like you’ve said before, it doesn’t matter a bit if the defence are left as exposed as they were today, I don’t advocate this “you score 2 and we’ll score 3 Keeganasque mentality”, but unless we find a way to supply the forwards then it’s bleak, Bent didn’t get more than 3 touches first half today, and it’s been like that too often this season…I’m only repeating your sentiments, but no point in defending like lions if we attack like lambs.
I know a lot go on about the silence at the ground, and they get angry when they have a perception that the rest don’t care, but I do, like most, really care, but sometimes I sit there and I just feel numb, being at the Villa at the moment is just like a reflection of my age…I’m still (in my head) young enough to feel the anger, but severely scarred by the teeth marks of time, so I hope that things are indeed cyclical and the good times do return, trouble is, my perception of good times are fast becoming less idealistic!

        • Fair enuf anon3 we will have to agree to differ re Dunne. But it’s a sad state of affairs that your happy we only lost 1.0 to man city. Its still a loss what about losing to Swansea is that acceptable to. Expectations have been lowered so much now that a 1.0 defeat at home to champions elect is a good result. Bear in mind that Sunderland and everton beat them at home and we beat them 1.0 last season.

          • Oohaah,
I’m not happy mate, by any means.

It’s why the protest failed today though, imo.
People are resigned to what we have currently got.
Which is a bag of shite, that we, as fans, can do nothing about.

            • What’s pissed me off, is that the sports sites are assuming that because there weren’t many protesters, we’re happy with the way things are :-(

            • Nothing we can do anon but get behind the team and hope for the best. Thank goodness for teams like wolves or we would be in trouble.

      • Actually it was collins fault for the goal. Ball watching, marking lescott, followed the ball over his head left lescott, Barry’s header back across goal, guess what? Lescott Collins less and free to knock it in.

        • If u watch highlights later ul see Dunne was the nearest and virtually stood and watched lescott and only challenged when it was too late. I suppose Dunne wasn’t also responsible for newcastles second goal last week as he was ball watching yet again. You people make me laugh thinking Dunne is a great player next ul be telling me that hes better than the lord lol.

          • .. you forget, that our defence handled about 15 corners and other dangerous situations very well. Yes, we conceded a goal from set-piece, once more, but you can´t give them the fault for defeat this time. Look at Bent chance in the last minute: corner, well done by Bent who was free in the 5yd box and their keeper made a super reflex. They score, we can´t. Its a small line between success and failure.

            • But it was yet amongst goal conceded from a set piece that we didn’t defend properly. This small line u talk about always seems to be failure with us. Like I said earlier no good defending well for 89 mins.

              • Sasa C,
Spoken from the heart, I love it :-)

Oohaah, we’ll have to agree to disagree mate :-)
Until the next time you slate him unnecessarily :-)

I don’t want to fall out with genuine long time fellow Villans, after all.

At the end of the day, we lost by a single goal to the possible champions.

  10. We have to pick up 10points mimuim from the nxt 4 games or we are fucked

    • I think that’s a key point mate, we must take 4 points from the next two, because if we don’t, then confidence will really slide and those left below us will sense blood, I think it is starting to get desperate.

      • Though at least wolves look doomed after today their confidence is shot to pieces can’t see them staying up.

        • It’s grim though mate when in February we’re looking at others to save us!
You’re right though, Wolves look proper fucked.

          • It is grim sasa this season is all about staying up. Even on sky Dwight was saying we deserve better. Think we will stay up thou as we have 7 point gap and our goal difference is worth a point.

    • 10 points? We’ll be lucky to bag 5 mate. The team is disjointed and can’t see them suddenly winning with these tactics. It could be too late for all of us.

  11. I forgot to say SasaC/Ooohaah,

Did you notice how the atmosphere rockets when we have a go?

Only one person to blame for the atmosphere at VP this season, imo.

    • Fair point anon3 we should of had a go from the start as this was a free game and think crowd would have got behind them more if theyd had a go and lost 3.0.

  12. Let’s hope Dunne is out for the season, otherwise we are doomed. His one mistake per game invariably costs us a goal. I just hope warnock doesn’t find his way back in or we’ll be gifting the opposition a raft of dangerous free kicks against a team who can’t cope with set pieces!!! Rant over!

  13. We need to support the team now. I’ve been advocating (and implementing) a no show policy at Villa Park until McLeish goes. However, I really think we, as supporters, should do what it says on the tin… support. At least until we are mathematically safe for another season. It’s been easy for me as I’m based outside the UK but still can manage 6-10 home games a season at a push. I went to Blackburn and Wolves but none since. I’ll try and get back for Fulham, Stoke, Sunderland and Bolton and hope that a lot of others who have been staying away do the same and we can create an intimidating atmosphere for the opposition.

Honestly, I think once (if) we are safe then just don’t go for the Spurs game on the last day by way of a protest. If (and it is a very big if) we are safe, that is!

  14. I fully expect to see Heskey at centre half next game as the manager seems intent on getting him into the side. I have never seen a Villa midfield so easily overun as yesterdays game. Only when Ireland and Nzogbia came on after 75 minutes did we perk up. Why did we wait until then could the bench not see the defence were under so much continual pressure. Bloody good job Ballotelli and Tevez wern’t out there.
No support for Keane and Bent from a completely out of depth midfield. I bet Keane can’t wait to be on that plane.

    • Spot on mate. My hope of any result was gone yesterday when i saw the starting line up. Why the hell he starts heskey is beyond me, if we r going to lose at least have a go which is all we want. Start with two proper wingers at least, ie MA and CnZ. Pissed off with the negative shit, only plus was seeing Gardner start which i think should happen every week
