Fantastic deal by Villa with Macron

With the news that shocks no-one it has has been confirmed that Macron are the new kit suppliers.

In a massive deal for Villa worth £15M over 4 seasons I have to give so much praise for the club for doing this deal. It is far in excess of what Nike was and despite all the moaning over Macron the size of the deal makes it worth while us becoming the Number ONE Macron supplied team.

Sometimes people get blinded by a brand name over the substance of a deal. Nike let us down in many ways, poor kit quality, late delivery times and frankly two rubbish designs ion the last two seasons. Under Macron we should have the power to dictate a unique design for the club and none of this template rubbish.

To get such a deal in these economic times, with Villa at best an average PL team and constant moaning over Paul Faulkner shows that in the commercial sphere we are every good. Therefore once fans should praise the actions of the club and not moan we have not got a ‘proper name’.

Remeber where you heard the link of Macron first :-)

  1. I really liked last seasons design. The away kit is one of my favourite Villa kits!
    :o )

    • yip defo, seeing that over half of my t shirts are black( bit if a metal fan) loved it probably my favourite home and away kit ever, like the away kit this season too.

  2. i always hear ‘poor quality’ associated with the nike kits and it’s just not true.

  3. Got to hold my hands up and say that sounds like a decent deal.
Let’s hope the money actually gets used.
    Wisely.

As for the kit, I’ll wait until I actually see it.

  4. Great news! I hope now we have the courage to ditch the pink home kit! Proud history! Bright future!

  5. Good deal, esp. when we are considered as a flagship for them. Was the deal with Nike 10M / 3 seasons? If this is 15M / 4 seasons it is better?

  6. Think it’s a great deal for us, and they have some really nice looking kits on their roster. The Napoli one is ace. Really would like a shirt with a collar again.

Anyone moaning abouyt us losing Nike is in dreamland, we were treated horribly by them and they dug out 2 quality kits in the 5 years we had them and that’s not good enough.

We are now the #1 team for this manufacturer and the kits being launched before the next season rther than september or worse is music to my ears.

  7. some of the macron kits are well nice, Napol and AZ Alkmaar kits spring to mind, but ours will end up looking like the west ham kit, which is a horrible design from macron when compared to some of their others.
I know Nike fucked us over but I think the kit they supplied us with has been head and shoulders the best I have seen in 25 years supporting villa. I know the bigger teams got better treatment i.e Man Utd, Arse and Barca to name 3, but like Nike, these are now global brands, that sell product the world over, we just are not in that elite group. We didnt make enough money for Nike, therefore we became an afterthought. As good as the Macron deal may look on paper, they are ‘small time’ when compared Nike, Adidas, and as a fan who shells out close to £90 a season on replica shirts, I’d rather be wearing Adidas or NIke, respected brands that make well fitting quality gear.

  8. Macron is a championship sponsor, we’re just setting ourselves up for relegation, the 2 english clubs that are sponsored by macron???? west ham and leeds!!! championship clubs!!

  9. you have just hit the nail on head there mate commercial sphere faulkner is good i agree to an extent but its whats on the pitch that should be worried over.. Its sort of ok we are not to good but hey dont worry commercially its ok if it carries on like it is no one will want to be known with villa with any substance

  10. Nike was 10 million over 5 seasons plus about 6 million per season in revenue to the club through 100K shirt sales. That had gone up from about 80k I remember reading. Can you see Macron selling 100k shirts? I asked my 9 year old God son if he wanted me to get him a new top for his birthday this year. I thought he was gonna burst into tears when I showed him the Leeds & Wet Spam shirts & said these are gonna be making our kits. I really thought the Henson & Hummel days were behind us.

    • Here here, anyone with half a brain will know that with youngsters these days its about image.

Forget all the old bunch who think they will earn brownie points by saying “I’ll buy the kit whoever makes it aslong as the badge is on it”

The fact is, if they did research it as thoroughly as they suggest (Which i highly doubt they bothered, since when do they listen to us lot???) Then they would dicover that the majority of people buying tops will be youngsters under the age of 18. To them image is everything. Nike are fashionable, Macron aren’t. It really is simple.

      • Buy them a Man Utd top then, they’re made by Nike.

        What a ridiculous argument.

Oh Dad, I don’t want a Villa top this year, even though it’s really nice, because it’s made by Macron. I really see that being a common conversation.

        • Actually as one person has already pointed out in this coversation, (I cant remember who, sorry)
He asked his god so if he wanted a Villa kit when the new ones come out and he showed the boy a macron kit and he said no.

You obviously don’t have a rational grip on how the youth in society work these days do you?

As someone who, on a daily basis, has to work to please certain age groups (I am a song writer) I HAVE to know what appeals to the people who buy the most. So i know a thing or two about what the youth want. And believe you me, any children upto the age of 18, as a majority, will prefer Nike over Macron, its just the way of life as it is now.

If you cant understand that, then its not my problem.

          • Maybe up to the age of 8 when your still a ‘floating voter’ when it comes to supporting a club but when you support a club you buy there kit and then buy Nike etc for other gear you may wear.
Before you say anything I also am involved with youth work and a ten year old couldn’t give a monkeys who a kit is made by as long as it the official kit (so not be be embarrassed in front of their mates!!)… They may wear Nike, Adidas etc when not wearing their kit as lets face it, they dont wear the club top every day!!

          • There is some serious shit going on in that household if he is asking god what he thinks of the new villa kit . Seriously if he has a direct line to god can he have a word about the manager first ……

  11. Anyway, that’s 15 million less we owe Lerner! How much more in hock to him are we?

  12. I think it’s great. Nike clearly doesn’t put much effort into Villa kits.

  13. villa have final say on all kits designs used for our kits, so if you dont like the kit style, blam villa merchandising dept not manufacturer

  14. great deal for the villa, hats off to the persons responsible for negotiating that.i wouldn’t give a shit our players ran around in bin liners for that sort of money.hopefully macron will put effort into our kit design as we are a big catch for them unlike nike who gave us any old crap to wear.

  15. Great deal? its £3.75 Million per season. Not exactly “huge” now is it.
Some teams get a lot lot more. And considering we are based in the 2nd city playing in the most watched league in the world…I’d say it was fairly average to say the least.

Plus we get to look at cheap tacky kits with huge kit supplier names across the front. Ace!

    • agree with this post and previous one too mate, it’s not exactly a massive sponsorship deal , liverpool got dumped by adidas recently and are been touted as signing with an american company (warrior sports i think) who are virtually unheard of in the uk but are stumping up 100 million to sponsor them. Now im not saying we are in liverpool’s league shirt sales wise but less than 4 million a season is really all we can expect and if it is tied to shirt sales as the nike deal was we are not going to sell as many shirts with macron as it not a fashionable brand it may go down. Less than 4 million pounds a season is an expected deal for sponsorship of a club of villa’s size not a “huge” or “fantastic” deal. My line of thinking is that it lowers the perceived image of the club , sunday league kits ,sunday league players ……oh hang on …

      • 100% agree, I just dont think some people can see past the end of their nose to see the bigger picture

        • can’t see te bigger picture?so you would rather us sign up to a company that would pay us less???????

          • If it meant more sales then yes it makes sense. The amount of gear villa Nike gear sold is unreal, even just simple polo neck t shirts…its common sense.

Don’t know about you, but I’d rather concentrate on getting a product out there that people like and ergo buy. Less sales=bad for business.

  16. Never liked the Nike kits actually, average designs & horrid to wear in my opinion especially with the “gaping neck” thing.
Sounds like a great deal the club have pulled off with Macron however & Nike have let themselves down badly with the way they treated this club. American companies normally excel in this area too. I think Nike have gotten too big for their boots & they have lost all respect i had for their brand after this appalling association… I mean to not give a Premier League club it’s strips in time for the new season?!… What on Earth was that all about?!

  17. To all fat persons of a mature age I beg you, please do not attempt to buy and wear a villa shirt, you look silly. To Aston villa fc please ban xxxL sizes if they can’t fit into a xL they are too fat .Thank you

  18. Frankly couldn’t care less who we have as long as they give us lots of money. It’s the only way we can ever dream of competing. Well that and having a manager who could entice a decent crowd!
