Well there used to be a Sky four group of teams and Arsenal were one of them.
As a so called big club our record at the Emirates is not bad at all. Ignoring the Fabregas inspired 20 minutes then the record matches any team at the Sky teams they love so much. So then why do we expect on Sunday and the key to the game is how serious Arsenal will take the game. For Wenger a trophy after all these years of getting away without one must be a must. therefore will he play the only player any Villa fan should worry about, the only player at the Emirates that has performed this season. I do not mean Walcott BTW !!
Without RVP then Arsenal are easily beatable and even with him as I posted last weekend I fully expect to actually win there because frankly Arsenal are poor. On the other hand our away form is very good now and we have shown a resiliency that was not there earlier this season (at least away from home).
as for the team, Heskey is fit which always worries me he will play but I doubt that and I expect few changes from the Wolves game in the second half so the team will be
Given, Hutton, Warnock, Collins, Dunne, Albrighton, Clark, Petrov, Gabby, Keane and Bent
I have picked Clark over Gardner simply because at Arsenal you do need a solid defensive midfielder. tough on Gardner I know but for this game would do this. For QPR would definitely play Gardner.
So 55 years on and I am going to say IT IS OUR YEAR an looking forward to the game.
Aston Villa News 24/7
I really do believe that we will beat them, I don’t know why, but I think that we will be able to relax, play and do them some proper damage, and I hope Gabby gets the winner.
And on another positive, Clark, we really do have a proper player on our hands with that lad.
Up The Villa.
you need to remember gardner played
reserve game, full debut and then 120mins in the next gen ….. he still buildin up first team fitness as we saw he got cramp against wolves . The lad could be dropped all together, and back in for qpr. Just dont burn the lad out.
Just a thought.
Ireland back for this too.
Agree we can win this one.
God please, no Heskey, unless it’s not working, in which case maybe 20 mins at the end.
Not sure about GG, I don’t think he’d bottle it myself and we could use his workrate.
A game of FBs and who messes up most, I reckon.
Anon, I agree with you about GG, I don’t think he would bottle at all, but Clark seems to have the physical strength that combines with a genuine deft touch, and that could rattle them, it’s the type of game that Bent may well really do well in, because if he times his runs right, they can be really static, sod it, 3-1 Villa!
Like your thinking Sasa.
It’s actually a nice problem for AM.
Which means no excuses on his part.
We need at least a decent performance, imo.
Would love to share your optimism, but Wenger is now under real pressure and I can’t see him taking this game lightly, so think we’ll be facing the strongest side Arse can put out.
For me, Heskey should be a last resort on the bench, and Gardner should be rested.
And that’s the trouble with you Ardent, too much common sense and perspective with every comment you make!
Hope you are well sir.
Sasa, nice to see you on here again – hope you’re keeping well too,
After a season of being totally pessimistic Ardent, I thought we could nick the Wolves game.
)
I got that one right (for once
I really think we can do this.
Let’s hope I’m on a roll eh?
But yes, agreed, Wenger will go balls out for this.
I was suprised by the Wolves result – started listening to the commentary on WM about tje time they equalised 1-1 and thought we were going to get murdered…
My elder son was at home that afternoon and just called me a grumpy old man!
Anyway, I don’t want to be the party-pooper here, so let’s hope you’re all right and we get through to the 5th Round.
I’d like to see Ireland somewhere but I don’t know how I’d fit him in
olbs, I agree with you here, I think that playing them through the middle is the key, if we can pull their CB’s out of position, then we can hurt them, if Mertersaker get’s pulled out of position he struggles to get back quickly, he has a enough nounce not to track left or right, but he is often caught in the middle of the pitch, as Anon say’s, AM has some real decisions to make here.
We always big up these fa cup games but i bet it will be 2 0 to arsenal, but villa choke in the fa cup 55yrs of hurt and john gregory the only manager to get us close to wining it not even the mighty rons got close u think eck will? Doubt it
I’ve just realised something.
Ian, have you had a mass banning of the members who 100% dissented (say JPA)?
If so, any chance of saying why?
nope, just one person banned and not JPA or ANO like that
Ah, I wonder where they’ve gone then?
Still some grounds for dissent and it isn’t all rosy yet, imo.
Ah well.
Everyone stops banging their head against a brick wall sometime; let’s face it there’s no chance of the club changing direction any time soon.
As Ian pointed out a day or two back, this is the quietest ‘window’ in memory – nobody else coming in and nobody else leaving – so there’s little to write-in about,
Anyway, I expect the ‘dissent’ will come back as soon as we lose another game!
I cant be arsed anymore, whats the point bothering.
The club is a joke, run by a wanker and managed by an incompetent twat.
Ive said my piece time and time again about both Lerner & McTwat and quite frankly Im bored to death by the whole thing.
I’ll be back when McLoser is gone, because until then I have nothing to say except…
MCLEISH OUT!
Nice to see you’re still about JPA.
It’s always healthy to have opposing views in any debate, imo.
Not that I oppose yours much of the time
JPA put it a bit more ‘forthrightly’ than I might, but basically I know how he’s feeling – it’s hard to work up enthusiasm for anything to do with Villa [ - or is it just 'football' in general?] this season, even a good old-fashioned argument…
Yep, Villa and footy in general
If you ain’t competing, the whole thing is a waste of time, imo.
This is exactly the point that the powers that be are missing.
I’ll keep watching, because it’s in the blood, but trust me kids now, don’t give a toss unless they’re “players” in the game.
That’s scary
I feel the same. I’ve started going to non league football instead. I think I would’ve anyway but the McLeish situation hastened my departure. Decent quality, 100% commitment from the players and great banter and songs. Yesterday I bought a bottle of pop and didn’t have the top seized off me by 4 hi viz jacketed morons. I was trusted not to throw it at anyone! You can even have a couple of beers in the ground and not have to remortgage your house to buy them too.
Arsenal always play 4 3 3 we should play 4 5 1 pack the midfield make it hard for them we may hav a chance i hope
Enda Stevens I have a feeling this guy will be very good for us, my mate watched the reserve game the other week and said he looked very promising as a player
a good cup run please lord.
Not just a cup run win the cup my lord
Thinks its a ques of which defence chokes first. Hopefully it will be theirs but could easily be a high scoring draw as both defences are shite. Thou we do have a better keeper which mute make the difference.
Wengers lost his magic hat…..or Redknapp’s nicked it.
Any one else think the liverpool fans are a disgrace? They should be kick out of the fa cup booing a player who was racel abase is a disgrace and cheering a racist bastard, and daglish has the nevre to praise the fans, so glad villa is not like that
Harry took it but sold it on and hid the money on a foreign account to avoid tax charges! The story has been revealed!
well i an that put end to thinking oue year
