Be aware Mat Kendrick and good for kids

Still quiet isn’t it ?

No transfer news, nothing to laugh at the Blues about (quite the opposite) and nothing in general Villa land. I do like the initiative from the club regarding the schools tickets, something I mentioned to the General on his first thread on VT that I was still allowed to post on. It is vital for the future of the club that we nurture the kids for the future. My daughter is a member of JV life and the offers we have had this season, the £1 tickets, £5 cinema tickets have been fantastic. No matter what you may think of Randy this is one area we are 100% right in.

I feel sorry for the junior players in the Next Gen series last night. We deserved more but the bonus is that one or two of them (of course Gardner) really do have a long future. I hope once we are safe from any small (less that 0.111%) chance of relegation that the kids we have are given more starting games and see what they can do. Next up Daniel Johnson ?

Then we have this little story from the other side of the Atlantic. The Cleveland Brown’s equivalent of Mat Kendrick has been moved from the Brown’s coverage after a tweet went public that was lets say, not complimenting Randy. I wonder if Mat remembers what happened to Bill Howell who was moved from Villa to the Wolves after a series of articles not seen to put Villa in the best light ?

However I do like what Mat writes and I think he is fair when criticism has to be said. He is a 100% Villa fan but it is clear Lerner does not mess around if he feels someone has gone OTT, be aware Mat :-)

  1. What the hack wrote was totally out of order though Ian,
Something along the lines of “Lerner’s the most irrelevant Billionaire in the world” or similar.
That’s just a personal attack, not being critical.

    • he meant a DM and tweeted it and too late, the power of twitter, seems no one learns !!

However it was hardly swearing and actually reflects a lot of the Brown’s fans at the moment and I suspect a lot of Villa fans

      • Being from Cleveland and both a Browns and Villa fan, I can honestly say it does NOT reflect what Clevelanders feel about Lerner. We have passionate dislikes for owners sometimes, the Dolans, owners of the baseball Cleveland Indians are not loved because of their frugality. Randy is quiet but hasn’t done what some NFL teams have done and gone below the salary cap to recoup money.

Tony Grossi made a bad mistake. The Plain Dealer yanked him from the Browns assignment (they did not fire him). Lerner and the Browns had nothing to do with it. There was little other choice. What credibility does he have left when talking with management after tweeting “He is a pathetic figure, the most irrelevant billionaire in the world.”?

Just want to let you know how we see it on this side of the pond.

        • I think Grossi si a great sports writer, he does not leave behind much and you understand how he feels. ‘Tony’s take’ is always interesting to read. So what he has a view, the club refused to speak to him, what he said is reflected by many posting on the paper’s site since I have been reading it.

    • freedom of speech and sometimes the truth hurts.. because randy dont say nothing dont mean the people who are passionate about the club cant say as they want…

  2. I went to school with Mat “Kenny” Kendrick (Graduated in ’94, aren’t we old) and I can assure you he is a die hard Villa fan and has demonstrated his professionalism to me several times. ( He never gives a way his ITK’s!)

Hopefully he’ll be the mails Villa correspondent for a long while yet!

  3. Mat Kendrick seems to be quite professional, he also tries to find a balanced view as well. Something i could not do after a loss!

It has just come up on my twitter that we bid for Samba 3 weeks ago and nothing came of it, can anyone verify

  4. totally 100% ITK because no one else got Ireland injured and Fonz to Leciester way before anyoine else knew, watch for any post by Karl

Also say Simon Tee on twitter has good information as well

  5. Cameron is a player I think could go all the way, he has the look of a decent winger.

Mat Kendrick is just another journo who likes the sound of his own voice.

  6. Anyone read this comments on Daily Mail Aston Villas Youth Team proves football entertaining:

Would these be the same Villa boys who got eaten alive by the Man United youth last season?

I bet Villa fans are licking their lips at the money they are going to get from big clubs for some of these players.

Talk about bitter and twisted, but what do you expect? One’s from Self Pity City and the other, well lets just say his back water sheep shagging bunch won’t be putting any offers.

  7. Nice to see in that article, Billy, that there were 3,500 Villa fans in Marseille, shows how much even the youth players mean to the fans. If only the first team realised that…

    • Yes Dave it was a good turn out,I left on 85 minutes to avoid the traffic, urgh! To be honest they could and should have been out of sight if only they’d been a bit more clinical in front of goal, that’s not a criticism, fair play to the lads, they gave their all.

  8. Bring back Bill Howell, even though he is a baggie……… Kendrick out……..
