Alex McLeish was reluctant to talk about Stephen Warnock yesterday. Unconfirmed rumours that the left-back could be left out of team today.
If this is true then Clark must play LB you would think as Stevens may not be ready to start. If Clark does play this will mean a midfield two of Ireland and Petrov with Keane with Bent up front and probably Gabby left. I have a debate on twitter at the moment and just do not believe that this is the right way we should go to be honest. In many ways it is a compromise of a team and they rarely do well.

I don’t understand why when we come under a bit of pressure we just start giving the ball away, time and time again. It happens every game. We haven’t been great at possession any time in the past five years or so, but this is the worst I’ve seen. And we’re horrible at defending set plays, but everyone knows that.
We played really well in the first 15. Since then we’ve been torn apart. Need to get the ball down and start playing again.
I do wish we had a player like Frimpong in midfield.

We can’t defend, and in particular we can’t defend set pieces. This has been true for a few seasons. It’s like Groundhog Day. Warnock needed pulling, but Clark is not doing the business there. Stevens won’t be ready for PL yet but we may have to give him a chance. We need to give Carlos a run at CB. Dunne and Collins don’t cut it anymore.
Even with that we still need a good DM.
