Keane takes advantage of idiot Henry

All I can say is what a game !!

When you saw the team selection playing Gardner made total sense given the other choices and injuries. For the first 15 minutes it paid a great dividend and we played really well. Good harrying by Bent led to a deserved pen and it looked like we could control the game. However at the time I noticed Gabby who started very well suddenly disappeared and Clark was left exposed.

From then on in the first half we were under total pressure and could have been 4/5 goals with no problems at all. so going in at 2-1 down at HT was a relief in many ways and changes had to be made. simply you could not allow Kightly that kind of space down our left and Clark must have been spinning at the end.

With Warnock being brought on for a sick Gabby this made all the difference and the second half became more cautious. Keane then who had done nothing had one piece of magic and helped by the keeper scored a fine finish to level the game. With a sending off, of the stupid Karl Henry this gave Villa the chance to win the game.

Then up steps Robbie Keane again with a fantastic strike to help pay back a large chunk of his money. that strike simply was top class from any player in this league. For the goals I give Keane the MOTM but Gardner ran him very close. We took advantage of when we needed to and got a frantic 3 points when we could have been dead and buried.

Football is such a weird and funny game, no wonder we enjoy it so much !!

  1. Still should get that Ginger cretin out.

  2. Two great goals and always around to receive the ball. A player capable of shooting on target, we should have bought ages ago. Collins was immense as well. As usual we could not finish off our opponents, too many wastes passes at the end.

  3. for me the 1st half must show lerner we need players asap, great win, keane signing prove most fans wrong today! lets just for once say ok AM you got that right just a shame he a loanee but who can moan we beat the dingles!!

  4. I seriously questioned the Warnock on for Gabby, but after having heard Gabby was sick, it was understandable.

And have to admit AM got it right today.
He saw the weakness and corrected it.
    That said, it was blatant.

    Hmm, MOTM, yes, I agree.
I’d love to have given it to GG.
I thought he did really well and looks like another Milner to me.
Did enough to justify more starts, but who’s going to lose out?
It would be Petrov for me, as much as I love him.
Don’t see that happening though, so it’s going to be a slow introduction, I think.

We had to win today and we did.
    Hence I’m a happy bunny :-) .
Still a bit concerned about our collapse in the second half of the first half though.
And a better team would have capitalised on it, imo.

  5. The important thing? 9 points between us and the relegation zone.

  6. Finally gardner plays he should play all the time no moaning from me tonight we won a derby hi five villa fans

  7. Well done to Keane and the team. We are actually as close to Europa as relegation so let’s think of it that way (not saying we will get there btw). It’s only about 12 points needed for safety with 16 games left.

we’re a long way from where we need to be but it’s not as bad as some would have us believe.

  8. Fantastic game and delighted we win!

Robbie Keane certainly hasn’t lost his touch – two superb goals!

  9. Haha, Bolton 2 up and pool looking shite :-)

  10. Apart from hopeless Hutton, thought it looked a decent line up.

    • Hutton had a good game…

      • He really didn’t!

        • Okay then, what exactly did he do wrong? Won his headers/tackle, gave a good option every time, he was in acres many a time, and put in a couple of good crosses!

          • Attacking wise he had a couple of good moments, but you have to remember first and foremost he is a defender.

He was beaten too easily and Wolves were pinging balls in from the left throughout the game.

I’m sorry but a couple of bright moments don’t constitute a good game for me.

            • Okay, but he was solid, the majority of the crosses actually came through from clarks side first half. But then yes second half there was quite a few crosses from huttons side, but they were very poor ones from the pressure and/or blocks he put in. So yeah, I thought he had a solid game

  11. we have to play a full strength side against arsenal next week & hopefully win, but the most imporant result is against QPR in my eyes, McLeish has to start showing consistancy now with the football & team selection to move villa away from the drop zone. UTV

  12. Will probably get some stick for this but I think the big thing now is for the fans not to get on the players’ backs early on against QPR!

We got a good win today and seem to play better away from home. I reckon they don’t feel the pressure as much as they do at VP so, even if we make a bad start, let’s get behind them and spur them on!

  13. So Keane is the first masterstroke the ginger idiot pulls off, interesting. Lets hope it’s the first of many(I doubt it, but hope so) as we are stuck with him.

  14. We really need some fan support against QPR – I hope the McLeish out brigade will stop for a couple matches so we can at least get out of the relegation zone.

  15. We won, have not seen the game but heard from a Wolves fan that its worth a watch on MOTD.

Regardless of Keane getting 2 goals he has added character to the performance, we rarely stage comebacks, lets hope this turn around lasts

  16. Morgan, it was a good game.

But you need to bear in mind where Wolves are in the league.
They’re not there for no reason.

We could easily have lost this one by a mile in the first half, as Ian commented.

    Keane scored two crackers, yes.
And we looked decent at times.

But we’d have been buried at HT by a better side, imo.

All that said, you can only beat what’s put in front of you.
    And we did that today.

  17. very true, the comebacks usually go against us so it is nice to be able to celebrate a win after we proved we do have at least a bit of character.

I agree that we do need to get behind the side at home to QPR and not get on their backs if we start badly or after 20 minutes when we haven’t scored yet. Appreciate that we are all entitled to our opinions but, let’s face it, as a group of supporters we are quite a negative bunch and we don’t really make it any easier on the team. I don’t think it is a coincidence that whenever we have an ordinary or bad season it is our home form that really lets us down.

If we are shit and are getting or get beat then boo and heckle the hell out of them at half time or after final whistle if you need to……….do believe we need to give more backing and be more vocal during the games though, something we aren’t too notorious for as a set of supporters.

  18. we ave had these results all season, when Mcleish has wanted and needed on then they have happened but we have failed to build on them.

against QPR the crowd is likely to 30,000 max, if that so the players will have to give the fans something

  19. I was actually a little bit confident that we might win today, as per my earlier post this morning.

But strangely I expect QPR to beat us.
    What’s that about??

And sorry to keep harping on about Pool, but 3-1 :-)
    Top 4 my arse!

    Dalglish out!
    Haha.

  20. great to get the win, will we build on that, remains to be seen.
