The linking today of Liverpool to Bent is of no surprise to anyone who has seen the rumours around.

It could well be that the Liverpool journalist has seen the internet rumours or has actually got some solid information. I note that all the local based journo’s knocked the story dead straight away from ‘club sources’ which I guess is positive. However we have quotes from Mcleish hidden away on Xmas Day which clearly state that with the right offer Bent could be sold (does not take that much reading between the lines).

So will Bent go, don’t know, it could be we are ‘lucky’ to get Andy Carroll back in a loan and the best part of £20M. However what makes me totally confident that the approach is true is the involvement of Bent’s agents. I have mentioned Wasserman before but just before he left Sunderland he moved to them and what happened ? Downing moved to Liverpool after the same kind of denials we have had today from the press boys and who did he move to as an agent shortly before hand ? No prizes for guessing on that one !

So given the involvement of Wasserman in this I would think this has more than a grain of truth. Added to this I think we have to sell Bent to generate money for some players brought in and further the wage bill even more. However I do wonder why Mcleish would say this on the BBC today
