Further rumours about Randy speaking to Qatar

I have been directed by Simon to this post on H&V.

You know what it’s a small World, people say it all the time but is really is. I had the honour of attending some close friends wedding this weekend and who should appear at the at the reception? MM (not to be confused with MysteryMan), the man who worked at SkySportsNews, the man who’s scatter gun approach to rumour flinging made him popular and despised in equal measure.

His life is going swimmingly, from dancing with Davina to recently being selected to host a pilot for a potential prime time terrestrial TV game show, so soon he could be a house hold name, but for now he shall remain as the one and only MM.

So after some severe ribbing about his hair cut and his new pose to hide the fact he’s got a big chin, I tapped MM up for some of the media rumours around football… (remember these are journalistic or mystery tip-offs received by SkySportsNews, you must understand that they receive hundreds if not thousands of “tip-offs” everyday from people claiming to be in the know but are not able to quantify their information, but some of them are very, very good for a bit of rumour mongering. As much as people like to think SSN will put out any story on a whim, you must understand that every time they say “Sky Sports News understands…” that rumour has been through many, many pairs of hands and is only released to the news desk when the bosses are happy there is enough suggestive evidence.)

MM promised he would get in touch and get back to me, so this morning I check my e-mails and true to his word MM has forwarded an e-mail. For obvious reasons I can’t show you the screen shot of the e-mail because it contains the information of both parties, however I will copy and paste the text. Interesting reading….

Hey Matt, as requested – Randy Lerner has contacted officials of Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani, you remember him right! Rumours have been that the Qatari’s are looking at other Premier League clubs after being frustrated by a lack of movement at MU. This has prompted several chairman to contact the Sheikh’s offices with the aim of raising interest in their club. Kenwright at Everton seem to have been rebuffed for reasons unknown.

However the latest club to make contact is Aston Villa, the source believes Lerner would be looking for £130-150m for the club, and the Qatari’s are interested. The source (the same one who gave me Venkys) went on to say that several key factors play in to the hands of Aston Villa which makes them far more desirable than say Everton or Blackburn. Watch this space is all i can say, it would seem the horse has bolted and soon there will be another big player in the Premier League money stakes.

Hope that helps, catch up soon mate.

This is apparently been posted on this SITE but I can not find it.

Make of this what you will but remeber this was the group that somehow got the World Cup and how do you think they did that ?

USUAL PROVISO – This is a RUMOUR it is not gospel and may well be a pile of shite, I have added it for information and debating points.

  1. Corrupt or not I don’t care it would be fantastic rubbing it in the faces of all the man u and chelski lot

  2. Bollox until JPA comes on here with a Randy Out message!!!

  3. Sorry guys but this backs up what i’ve been saying on AVillaFan.com – This sounds so promising & it won’t be long before news breaks on this. Yes, its a rumour. But, why cut the wage bill by nearly £500k p/w & can the North Stand Development?

  4. If it did happen to Villa the same accusations of buying success that Man City and Chelsea face just would not apply to us…we need only point out what we have won already to nip that one in the bud.
If such a takeover were to happen it would not be a case of Villa buying success, it would simply be a means of restoring us to our proper position in the game: Number One. I hope it happens because we have been hamstrung and held back for far, far too long

  5. If randy is selling and for that price then the villa has obviously not lost him as much money as all you gullible brown nosing fans think. He will sell villa for a profit and is only sellin for that much, proves that villa have only lost randy a few mill here and there backing everything ive been saying for the past year

  6. Tom Ross has come out saying Randy Lerner is not selling Villa. Stories about him wanting out are not true but as I said back on my tweet I trust @thegoalzone as much as wet fart in a Mini

  7. Please please please let it be true, that’s all I can say

    • Just done a lil bit of research,in short,Aston Villa F.C would become by far the wealthiest club on the palnet,as the guy above said we won’t be buying success,we have that in our history,it just restores the status quo

  8. Eh. I’ll believe it when I see it, and right now I don’t see it. Not buying it.

  9. Who is mm then???

  10. This is bound to be bull shit, nothing good ever happens to us! We will be left with Lerner the two bob twat.

    Qatar In! Lerner Out!

  11. Two Bob Twat………………classic Juan effing classic

  12. Lets face it, there is more chance of the actress that plays Deidre Rachid winning sexiest woman of the year than me buy Aston Villa.

  13. dear god lets hope its true but lets face it, we are villa, nothing good ever happens to us. they will take over some shit club like bburn or everton or stoke instead

  14. It is a rumour. That’s all there is to it, and all you thick fuckers are being led by it! It’s feckless idiots like Ianrobo that are helping to ruin the club. We had better fans than you lot when we were in the old 3rd division, that’s a fact!

  15. really ??? oh dear me, I actually think I have said it is rubbish and do not want it, this is not exclusive but reflecting what is out there open to everyone.

  16. Actually no. All you are putting out is baseless factless rubbish, and you are just out to try and get your Qatari mafia in. If you didn’t put it out, nobody would know about it. So why don’t you spend your time doing something useful for the club and not write about this crap. In my opinion it’s another faceless campaign concocted by a moron! Stop ruining my club!

  17. more chance of Fatima get her big COCK out on tv than rich arabs taking over Villa

  18. For some reason Felaini has signed a new 5 year deal with Everton today quoting the clubs ambition as his reason to stay – Has he been told by kenwright that Everton are being bought…….

  19. To be fair Baines, Rodwell and others have signed contracts aswell, so Felaini’s case is nothing unique, he’s still a young man so there’s no need for him to leave just yet, anyway back on topic, these rumours are cracking stuff and it fits in with an article i read earlier in the week about the Qater group, it suggsted that premiership clubs were trying to contact them in an effort to try and get a deal done, it would be great if it came off because quite frankly we’re a middle of the road club right now,

Some financial support wouldn’t guarantee we’d win everything in sight but it would give us a realistic chance of competing with the other clubs at the top of the league, surely every Villa fan would be happy about that? with won feck all for 15 years and still some fans would reject a takeover like this!!.. it baffles me to be honest, just bonkers.

    • Maybe you are right, but the reports are that he is getting 70k / week on a 5 year deal? Thats a big commitment for a club that Kenwright has openly told Everton fans have no money?
Maybe they are using the Arteta money? maybe they are gambling on future PL money to keep their younger players or maybe the investment is close….

      • Or maybe Everton are just sick of being a feeder club for the Mancs, and have gone out on a limb to keep at least one of their more important players?
Anyway if he’s on a longer contract they’ll just be able to get more for him if one of the other clubs come calling with an offer he can’t resist.

        • Correct.

Fellaini gets a large pay rise, and Everton can call for an extra £5m+ in the Summer as he has an extended contract.

After losing Arteta as they did, I should imagine all decent Everton players were offered extended and improved contracts.

          • That’s all very well arguing this, but Ashley Young could have done the same. Players don’t usually sign another contract if they are in for a big money move as it benefits the club, not themselves (with a signing on fee)
