Yesterday was bad, no doubt on that, losing to West Brom for the first time in 29 years is just embarrassing and very worrying especially as they were poor.
On the final whistle, I expected to hear shouts and whistles of derision. I even expected to hear a few Mcleish out chants, but instead what did we get ? A few mild boos, a few shouts but nothing else. What really worried me was the total acceptance of the situation, it is like the fight and battle from the fans has gone.
As fans we are entitled to voice our displeasure. Sometimes it goes OTT (like at Wolves yesterday 2-0 down) but at the end of the game with no bottle of fight, we should have been real angry. I guess what happened in the summer has gradually wore people down and the fact that we have a manager rated by no one does not help.
With the crowds clearly down 3K on last season the more and more empty plastic seats we see, the more depressing it gets. The players on the field showed none of this fight after going 10 men down and the fans take the lead from this. Can this be reversed ?
Well of course it can nothing is permanent but Mcleish and Randy are going nowhere at the moment so it is totally up to the players but do they care enough ? What does a player think of a manager who plays Heskey the powerhouse (you must have seen the vid) in Midfield OUT of CHOICE …..

Villa under Lerner have been overtaken by the times, we are in a period of consolidation, and sadly under McLeish’s tenure. The wasted cash on the likes of Harewood, Carew, and all the others, some of whom are still at the club, although I’ve no clue what they do, is what is holding us back, and by cash I mean wages as well as fees.
When that cycle is broken Lerner will be up to be counted. Until it is, grin and bear it is the only philosophy and with 9 games from 38 finished anyone who can suggest its all over and dusted is more of a twat than those who still idolise a little Irish bastard who royally fcked our club up while maintaining his own wealth and self righteousness.In comparison Dol and Graham Turner did the club proud.
