Sean Verity – New Reserve Manager and Ciaran Clark

Interesting information from Mat Kendrick tonight.

Since Kevin Macdonald has moved to 1st Team coach we had a gap for a reserve team manager and Mat has said

Sean Verity set to become #avfc new reserve team manager with claret and blue stalwart Kevin MacDonald stepping up to 1st team coach

He has been an academy coach for a while and is obviously well respect amongst the kids which is vital, so good luck to him.

then we have some rumours surrounding Ciaran Clark. Yesterday the Mirror reported that Forest were interested in him and Baker on loan. Now I can understand Baker going on loan BUT Clark ??? who the hell would cover for Warnock then ? Herd ??

Never mind that Clark is a reserve centre back as well and needed at villa so surely false. Well tonight in the reserve game against Everton we lost 2-1 Steve McClaren pulled out of watching the game as Clark and Baker were withdrawn.

Hopefully these rumours regarding Clark are totally false, be madness to let him go !!

  1. Assuming Richard Dunne maintains current form its unlikely Ciaran Clark will get a run out in the foreseeable future. A loan move might be a useful move

  2. Agree fully Ian. We cant allow Cieran Clark and/or Nathan Baker to go out on loan anywhere.

We’re not a benevolent society. We need to safeguard ourselves against injuries, suspensions, and loss of form, by ensuring that we are not short on numbers should any of those situations arise, which they quite obviously will as the season unfolds.

We are not in a position to send out our promising youngsters on loan. We have to look after number one.

    • we can let one go glen, because in effect both cover for each other but you know what would happen, normally no recall options nowadays. So as soon as someone goes, bang, injury crisis and no recall

PL vclubs need 4 CD’s in the squad, we have 4 bloody good ones, why let clark go ?

      • This is not true, you can have call back option in loan deal, it is the matter of no loan fee and sharing % of wages for both parties for several months.

You can not have loan with both loan fee and call back option (counter productive). But call back option is still here as an option if no loan fee.

I would loan both of them with call back option right now. They need first team minutes asap.

  3. McLeish need Clark to cover substitution for 3 positions .I don’t see that true .

  4. Baker on out loan is a good idea. Clark should probably be playing left back!!

  5. I think clark has more potential than baker and I would prefer to see Clarke go on loan cuz e needs to be playing regulary. Cuz the last thing we need is another Cahill situation where e leaves for game time. And besides baker can cover LB and CB and we have cullear for cover too

  6. Just seen on shite sky that Eric Lijah is out for 4 months after hip surgery and Emile ‘Ivanhoe’ Heskey is out for a month with hamstring pull.
So leaves our threabare squad close to being a damn site worse than last year when we were struggling. I see nothing bright in our future Mr Lerner !! Mr Faulkner !!

Is it too late to return ST ??

Another £450+ down the effing drain ……

  7. Clark is a fantastic player who should be getting game time or, at the very least, be on the bench at Villa. Forest are a good setup but we should be giving the lad experience. He is one not to lose through his disillusionment of being at Villa and not getting on the pitch á la Cahill.

  8. clark is a poor left back he really shouldnt be played in that position, he is slow and a bit clumsy and is booked nearly every match he plays. Im still yet to be convinced by him, i hope he proves me wrong but i think a loan move would be a good idea for the club and him.

  9. Why dont we sell him for peanuts and then watch him become a top player somewhere else while we are left with shit old centre backs. Im sure ive seen something like that happen somewhere before?
