A decent start to the season
There was apprehension at the start of the game from myself because I do not rate McLeish. However it has to be said the first half performance was very good and maybe if Bent had not gone early we could have been leading. The main talking point of the team selection was the inclusion of Heskey and frankly we were proved right, Why ???
The second half started very slow for us and Fulham were all over us. If not for a very good performance from MOTM Shay Given we could have easily been 2-0 down after 60 mins. From then on it seemed like we settled for the draw and it was a well deserved one but no doubt some will use that to have a go at McLeish for being negative. For once I can not join in with that because away at Fulham a draw is good.
The positives were of course Shay given, Dunne played well, N’Zog did until he faded.
The big negative was clearly picking Heskey who contributed nothing and can simply not understand his inclusion.
However I have to say I expect that this will be the standard of our away performances, keeping it tight and hoping for things on the break. If Mcleish can get some attacking play into the team at home we may be on for a decent season, much more of that at home and knives will be out.

Seems to me that there is a deal of resentment that McLeish didn’t lose his first competitive fixture in charge of the Villa.

Had a good day yesterday, thought we played reasonably well, and if not for an offside, we’d have come away with the three points.
If we win our next three matches, there will still be some on here griping about something.
Fulham lost four home games last season, it’s hardly a poor result.

I genuinely believe that there are some who would like to see McLeish struggle and be ousted, and for the majority of fans to call for Lerner out.
Thankfully, they are a tiny minority that are vastly over represented upon forums.
To deny their existence, would be pillock like.
Mcleish wont be ousted even if we struggle. So wanting him to fail is pointless.
