So we go Randy’s letter today and did it really say anything and was it worth the expense and time to send it ?
I will forget the McLeish comments, I never wanted the failure at Villa Park he is here now so we have to put up with him and I hope I am 100% wrong about him. However the letter as attached below for those of you who did not get it is mine.
A week ago or so I posted what I said I wanted to hear from Randy, about youth development, about realistic aims and what did we get ?
Basically a lot of pre-preared tosh about stability and future of the club, was Doug Back ? In fact what we got was an accountants view pof Aston villa, their personal ambitions are what ?
to manage the club for growth
I know what they mean by that but not a single on field ambition, not going for CL, not even EL not even a domestic trophy but a lot of accountant speak that means nothing to Villa fans out there, NOTHING. the target is being within the top 20 clubs for revenues, OK we need revenues but a target of being top 6 in the PL means more.
If only Randy had said he would invest in the youth, invest in a quality scouting system bit we got nothing at all like that, no long term FOOTBALL plan. It is clear to any Villa reading it that any hopes for the future is reliant on cups, Doug is back ! So know we have the clear indication of stability at the club is all about the finances and money targets and you may ask why we did not get a quality manager, no way would they have come to us.
Let me remind you we sold approx £36m of players this winter and brought approx £12.5m of players so I think after McLeish’s comments today we can genuinely ask
WHERE HAS THE MONEY GONE ?
and for me it is to reduce the debts in time to sell the club.

Aston Villa News 24/7
Not impressed at all with Leaners excuse of a directive on how , we as a proud football club , are now going in a downward slope.
I agree that financially we need to act in as prudent way but without giving Villa Fans any degree of hope or ambition that their club is moving in the right direction.
We all know that the team is not strong enough for the coming season and been led by a manager that 100% of fans were disgusted with the appointment
If feels that heart has been ripped out of the club that I love with a passion and have never felt so depressed at the start of a season.
I hope that I’m wrong but we all know that it ain’t right
stevo
100% have you spoke to every villa fan???
you claim to love the club with a passion, yet you’re not backing the manager is that not counter productive? its going to be hard enough this season without the likes of you putting the knife in every time we concede a goal or lose or draw. we need to back the team 100% that includes the manager and his staff, give the bloke a fair crack, if he comes up short then people can criticise, but at the moment i ‘d sooner these morons didn’t turn up, or i’d sooner have 25,000 villa supporters 100% behind the club than 35,000 with 10,000 not supporting the club. in fact i’ve a better idea, let the 10,000 morons come and support the away team, at least that way we still get therir money!!!!!!
answer me this, if AM had come from , say wigan or someone similar, would there have been such a reaction from the idiots we saw on tv?????
i don’t remember there being demo’s when john gregory was appointed, with little or no managerial experience at all, do you also remember graham turner in 1982/83 no demo’s there either funny that, don’t you think?, perhaps if they had been at small heath it might have been different.
on RL it could be a sale, he has just started up another compy at villa called ‘RAL REALTY’ worth around £150 miil (i think) the details are on ‘companies house site’
could be he’s pooling all the funds ready for a sale or could it be for the redevelopment
of the north stand. With the ban on sales my guess would be SALE…….any sheikes about????????????
anyway………..UP THE VILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just back from a trip and read RL letter – apologies if all this has been said before in earlier postings but the letter did nothing for me. How I wish for the days of ‘Proud History, Bright Future’, ‘we would rather have Acorn on shirt than on-line betting’. It felt there was vision, passion and promise then where now it all sounds a bit ‘Corporate’.
Never mind – at least we get down to the real business tomorrow.
