Clues on the new team line up

The only thing that friendlies show you is the possible team line up for the new season as the manager will be playing the system you would expect for Fulham

So based on what we have seen it is certain that the defence (baring injuries of course) will be

Given,
Young, Dunne, Collins, Warnock

That has a familiar line up to it and then added to this in reserve we have Guzan, Beye, Clark, Cuellar, Lichaj and Baker.

Now if Cuellar stays and Warnock and Beye do really get their act together this ‘could’ be enough but Alan Hutton seems to be certain to join and Lichaj possibly to Leeds.

In midfield in what is looking a 4-3-3 formation from the first two games it is looking like

Petrov, Makoun, Ireland

with backups of Bannan, Delph, Hogg, Herd and Gardner

There is an obvious lack of a proper defensive midfielder with this line up and it looks one quality player short for a top 7 push with no one rumoured to be coming in. Just do not think it is good enough.

Up front is much easier in many ways with

Gabby, Bent, N’Zogbia

and Heskey, Fonz, Albrighton & Weimann in reserve. This should be good enough for easily top 8 as Bent is certain if fit to deliver 20 goals but if he got injured you would really worry.

The formation can be easily adapted to 442 of course but may leave the central two exposed without the proper defensive midfielder and for me that position is vital to be filled.

What can not be claimed with this squad is that it is a relegation squad, not at all. However the hope is that to push forward from last season the aggro players pull together and the kids perform up to the levl of expectations on them.

It is THIS that will determine if McLeish can take off the shackles of blues legacy off him and start off in a positive manner.

  1. Any body that thinks we will do well this season is very naive. Its not Football manager, this is real life and in the real world makoun, delph and petrov is Shit.

    Lerner Out

  2. given, l young, dunne, collins, warnock, albrighton, ireland, petrov,n’zogbia, bent, agbonlahor

    :)

  3. So, we have two new signings in N’Zogbia and Given and it seems most of the posts on here predict that the experienced players will keep out all of the.ex youth team players apart from Albrighton!
Everton always bring through young players from their youth teams and so can Villa. Bannan. Hogg, Delfuenso, Lichaj and Lowry all played games in the Championship and/or the Prem over the last two years. Baker, Delph, Clarke and Herd have gained experience. All of them have played in international matches for their countries.
We also have Gardner. That 11-1 demolition of Arsenal Reserves was his first game back after a year out. I predict that at least three of the players mentioned above will get regular games and I hope that more will. Graham, Williams, Carrithers and Johnson might also be involved and it can’t be long before Seigrist comes through

  4. Noway will we get Parker, too much in wages and other costs and also he is 30 and past his peak..will just be another petrov in a year.. Were not going to set the league alight this year but we will be fine we just need to forget about buying lots of players an spending loads of money, Lerner is doing the right thing for the club those who can’t see that are stupid and think this is championship manager!

  5. Aidyvilla is your father a gay? It would explain a lot

    • JPA – i dont doubt you care about the villa but alot of your comments are clinically depressing and full of shit to be fair. you keep talking about lerner out and now crap like delph and makoun are “shit”.

delph hasnt had a long run in the side. he has suffered a horrendous injury but is fit and looking very good. he clearly has alot about him and when he gets his run, and sorry to disappoint you but he will, he will prove what a future he has and you will look even more like a muppet.

makoun has played at the highest level – fact – and once he gets used to the pace of the prem – he has played less then half a season as you are well aware – he may will be quite an asset to.

petrov is clearly past his best but still affords us alot of possession and keeping the ball is half the battle – there are other more offensive players in the team.

cheer up jpa – you make me think you are a crusty depressed little man in a dark room who loves to whinge all the time.

no one has been pleased with the events over the last 12 months but we have finished 6,6,6 and 9th in the last 4 yrs including man city changing football for ever. its not bad and with some good management and spirit we could well compete again albeit in the new football world we are now in.

      • ‘a crusty depressed little man in a dark room.’

Yep, that makes sense, maybe JPA is in reality Carson Yeung.
        UTV

    • jpa, you’re the one with ‘anus’ in you’re name and you constantly add references to male genitalia in you’re depressed ramblings.

  6. I think Bannan will have a bigger role to play than you think. It seems McCleish has him ahead of albrighton at the moment. I think Given, Young, DUnne, Collins, Warnock, Makoun, Petrov, Ireland, Bannan, Zog and Bent will line up at Fulham.

    • I a agree benno.think eck rates bannan quite highly and he didn’t do badly at all on the right against blackburn,he is a lightweight player like many are saying but with that he brings pretty sharp reactions and speed.I think thats a more than decent line up, who if played to there strengths, could whip the ass of any team in the premiership(on there day) which hopefully there will be plenty of this season.Up the villa boys

  7. I sorta agree with the bannan comments Bannan is too weak to put in centre of the park but he is deffo needed for his crossing ability. But albrigton is better at getting past people. Both exciting young players so will be interesting too see who he plays I’ll be happy with either. But as far as the line up agree with the 433 but think would work better as 442 with both wingers and Ireland supporting bent and the CM’s just holding and covering the middle of park

    FOOTBALL MANAGER 2011 TATICS LOL

    • He’s never shown his weakness if he’s actually weak. Of course he’s no DM but has never been played there ever so I don’t think his size is going to affect him in any way. David Silva’s the same size as him, maybe a little heavier but in height he’s not and how good was he last season? Very.

  8. Villa are in serious trouble if that little piss ant Bannan becomes a regular

  9. Anyways. N’Zogbia’s having his medical today according to reports. About time he’s done with his vacation.

  10. Comparing Bannan to David Silva?

You need to stick to the MLS you nonce

  11. Now I remeber why I never view this blog.

    Grow up

  12. GK: Given
Back Four: Young, Collins, Dunne, Warnock
    DM: Petrov, Makoun
AM: Albrighton (right), Ireland (centre), N’Zogbia (Left)
    ST: Bent

Bench: Guzan, Clark, Cuellar, Delph, Bannan, Gabby, Fonz

    Sell: Heskey & Beye

    Bring in: Hutton & Hitz

Tell Ireland he has til Christmas to prove himself

  13. Given

    Young Collins Dunne Warnock

    Petrov Delph

    Albrighton Ireland N’Zogbia

    Bent

Bench. Guzan Clark Beye Bannan Makoun Gabby Fonz

Good 11 but weak bench for me.

  14. “Sometimes it’s not just down to the skill. It’s down to the will too. I know my players will have plenty of that in the locker.” Alex McLeish

Appears the plan is to be “the little team that could”. Good job no one else will think of that approach ;)
