Yes I am being totally serious.
Yes it is on Twitter but Adam Price tweeted this
Just been told that the impending administration is the reason Wiseman left Blues last week. By someone who knows the famly.
This is NOT the only rumour.
I have also been told by someone who supplies the Blues that all orders are on hold at the moment. This can only mean that they do not have the cash and obviously unable to sell at the moment unless really cheap – £4M – Johnson.
So clubs do want Scott Dann, he is quality but why pay £12-14M. Why not wait ? Because if they go into administration then the price will drop as the administrator is duty bound to get the best price (say £8m) not the highest price.
So why does this concern Villa ? Well there is no doubt we are willing to sell Cuellar, does anyone really think we can go into the season with just Dunne/Collins/Clark and whoever can fill in ? One thought is that we agreed to a deal with Blues that AM can not buy from Blues in a time period.
However if they go into admin this becomes negated I believe as we are no longer dealing with the club but with administrators. On top of this money is tight at Villa (not like at Blues !!) and we can afford £8M say but not £12M or more. so like all clubs we are waiting for admin to happen and then we will pounce ?
I hope so because I really rate Dann and would love him at VP, the only Blues player I would have as we now have Given.
Oh you may be wondering why no post on N’Zogbia, simply because I have always been 100% confident he would sign and will comment when official.
Aston Villa News 24/7
LERNER OUT have you read the link posted short time ago by ARDENT VILLA on the new company at villa post?
I think it shows exactly what sort of person LERNER is and what is priorty is.
Its also interesting to get the American view point.
This should focus the LERNER supporters and make them wake up.
LERNER OUI
Im not a Lerner supporter or a Lerner hater I love my club end of, Ted you are a boring arse! Same nonsense everyday, get a life or support another team because you dont deserve to be a Villa supporter with your attitude. You are the type of supporter who would support Man City and still have something to moan about!
Ted please tell me where these assets that Mr Lerner is stripping from the club came from in the first place? With the exception of Gareth Barry he bought them in. Before Lerner’s investment into the club we didn’t have players of the caliber to raise such funds.
The bloke has invested millions which we couldn’t have invested without him. Yes I know he’s loaned the money to the club, just like most of the other owners. Yes he charges interest, but he charges it at 2%. At the level of investment he’s made he could get double his return anywhere, and the club couldn’t borrow money that cheaply from any other source, or be offered that amount.
When you’re worth a billion dollars there are many ways to make more money but buying a football club ain’t one of them!!
Randy Lerner’s mistake was to give MON a free hand. The club lack a level of football knowhow and he put total faith in MON, but MON was found wanting. Lerner has had his fingers burnt and so is putting things in order. There are times in business and life that you need to get back to basics and that’s what the club is doing, whilst also preparing for the new fiscal rules.
In 2008 Randy Lerner dropped out of the Forbes billionaire list. In 2010 he was back in it. So the fella isn’t skint and doesn’t need to take money out of a football club to put food on the table. He has been excellent overall for Aston Villa, those who think differently have short memories.
Some of the posters on here seem to have an agenda. I’m not sure what their motives are but their views always seem anti Aston Villa. Whether the target is the owner, manager, players, groundsman, tea lady they never have a good word to say and rarely let facts get in the way. I’m 48 and have supported the club since I was a boy, believe me these aren’t the bad times!!
Villa ’til I die
DaveAV1- Actually I agree with most of what you say, although I would question the degree to which MON [alone] was culpable for the wages mess – surely RL had a finance director of some sort to look after his investment in the UK for the first three/four years here?
However, whenever I look at the fans’ comments from the US about the Browns, I get a sense of something familiar; and RL is a more complex operator than the simple ‘Mr Nice Guy’ image that he cultivated here in the first few years.
I don’t have a fixed opinion of the guy [either pro- or anti-]but the more I read about him, the more I think that Ian’s quite right in keeping an eye on what he does behind the scenes of VP!
spot on..
actually that was ment for daveav1
On another note, Reo-Coker signing for Bolton! What happened to them top European teams his agent was saying were after him? You have to have a laugh
, or maybe I missing some Bolton Wanderers history from the membrane?
Bet NRC’s taken a sizeable pay cut as well…
Yes, it is quite funny.
I really don’t understand why we never offered him a contract, albeit it not at his stupid asking price though.
We’ll miss him big time, I’ll put money on it, because he was the only tough guy in the middle we had.
Agree, a useful player to have in your squad! He could not score for us but I bet he scores for Bolton against us next season?
Thanks Villa4me
Ardent I understand what you’re saying and you’re right the waste wasn’t all down to MON, but let’s not set people off on that road again!
As for the Browns stuff you again have a point. I’m not saying RL is or ever was the “messiah”, or whatever label people want to give him. However overall he’s been good for the club, but I agree not perfect. What get’s on my threepennies is the ott slagging he gets of some posters, which he definitely doesn’t deserve. A quick glance down the road should be reminder enough of what a disaster really looks like! But then again some people have nothing good to say about anything to do with the club. They certainly don’t offer anything that could be labelled “support”.
Roll on August 13th!
Dave – the biggest problem I see is that we seem to have a lot of fans who really want an Abramovich or Mansour – a sugar-daddy who’ll simply put-in whatever it takes, for however long they remain interested.
RL isn’t in that category, but then again we can be grateful that he’s not Hong Kong Phoney either!
As a villa Fan I don’t won’t Villa to “do a Leeds” so if that mean that Villa has to do some cut back then so be it. Aston Villa spend a lot of money on players when RL first came but Villa did not get CL football and without that extra revenue it just not feasible to keep spending

Theyll movr cuellar and another one alomg and sign a defender and centre mid..maybe a striker if they can move someone else off..theyre not done dealing…
but they have a good squad capable of fighting for a europa lg place..with another plus signing like parker or dann they can do better and land in 6th ..If mcleish can resurrect warnock and ireland theyll be an excellent side..if he does that then hes worth the controversy
Watching them yesterday I thought that we look solid.
If you approach the season with a realistic outlook that we’ll continue to beat the Blackburns etc, and probably not the Man Us & Chelseas, you won’t be far wrong.
As for signing NRC once more, I’d have rather taken a punt on Der Hammer.
However, it’s pretty clear that the future is Petrov & Makoun leading the middle with the likes of Bannan, Gardener & Delph being developed.
We won’t be in trouble this season, loathe him or hate him, McLeish will be too competitive for that, and he has a reasonable squad that look to be responding to him.
Criticise him for Blose relegation, but look at the dross he was working with to save the day.
Craig Gardener, Curtis Davies, Liam Ridgewell, all Villa cast offs, and his key players were all injured.
I also get the impression that the players may have had a good idea of what was going on behind the scenes, as did the manager, and many were not overly disappointed with their final league position.
Yeah we looked fairly tidy yesterday, much better at the back than we looked last season (probably largely due to going back to basics and playing to our defences strengths)
Nobody had a particularly bad game and everyone worked very hard which, given the conditions and the fact it was a friendly, is an encouraging sign.
Given up worrying about off field shit now, we will buy N’Zogbia and that is it unless we sell anybody else, we will still be fine.
Much happier now the REAL action is starting.
The most encouraging aspect so far has been the revival of Warnock and Ireland. Ireland looked great while he was on against Walsall, threading some really fantastic through balls and Warnock was great yesturday.
It just shows how important moral is. If AM can get us playing as a team we have a lot of potential in the squad who could make the step up this season.
On our day we will be able to beat anyone and have enough of a goal threat to concern any team with Bent, N’Zogbia, Irleand and Albrighton on the pitch; but we will probably end up 7-9th with a good cup run.
Yeah I agree 7th – 9th would probably be about right. Warnock and Ireland, should they carry on and perform, would be like two new signings for us…….very impressed with Warnock yesterday.
I was very impressed with Warnock but more importantly I was pleasantly surprised to hear Mcleish say that Ireland had been overdoing it in training! I couldnt help but have a little snigger to myself but if Mcleish can make him work that hard then I look forward to seeing him on August 13th
I agree, could certainly add a lot of value to our season if AM can get the best out of him
Houllier said Ireland was doing it training but not on the pitch last year but his heart was obviously not in it. Now he is settled we could see a different player next season.
