Fantastic Deal for Villa, Compensation for Mcleish and Al-Habsi

The news on the new sponsor for Villa came as a surprise to many people, the main one being WHO ?

However upon further inspection you can see that Genting is a massive giant on the world scene with massive revenues and a desire to expand. Who in this country knew they are behind Stanley and Circus casinos and building a mega one at the NEC ?

Clearly they have seen an opportunity with Villa to spread their brand using the PL as the backbone for this. Clearly they with two casino’s in Birmingham and a third one to come they see all kind of opportunities in promoting themselves through the Villa ‘brand’. Maybe we will see packages where you get free bets and a Villa game.

However the real good news is the reported figure for the deal. Hold your breath it is reported at

£8m per YEAR over two years

Yes, that puts us in the mega deals in the PL with only 4 clubs bigger than ours. In many ways I am totally shocked at how much they are reported to be paying but no way am I going to moan at that and in this occasion Villa deserve a massive WELL DONE for this deal.

The Mirror have ywo stories tonight. The first being that Blues will pursue their £5,4m compensation claim (LINK), something we do not want to carry on and hold funds back.

The second story is that we want Al-Habsi (LINK), hope so, think he is a cracking keeper.

  1. Al Habsi would be an immense signing. Half as much as Foster, same age I believe.

  2. After all this drama the one thing that i find hard to swallow is Chris Hughton, I really rate him as an up and coming manager and a potential for the England job in years to come. Why oh why has he become a blue nose?

Al Habsi was the reason Wigan stayed up last year the other is Nzogbia I would be happy if at least one of those was kicking a ball around Villa Park on a regular basis next season, if Downing wants to go cash in (great player but i dont believe a footballer should stay if he is unhappy)and bring in Krankjar. Bring in Diarra on a free, Upson, Clyne from Palace and DJ Campbell as a super sub and i think we will do very well next year.

I am also looking forward to seeing Gary Gardner, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank GH and Gmac for bringing on the youth and getting us to a top half finish, I hope GH stays away from the managerial side and coninues to work maybe in this country in youth development where he belongs.

  3. 8 mio would be great if true. But one remark: will never understand our Acorns sponsorship on the shirt. We could have put a sponsor on it and give half the sponsor amount to Acorns, if we urgently wanted a charity acitvity. That would have been better business for all parties.

Yes, we need the 8 mio. if we have to pay a compensation for AML. That would fuel discussions about his appointment once more.
Hope we will buy a decent player for that instead.

  4. So anyone want to praise Faulkner here? There’s plenty keen to blame him for other things so how about credit where credit is due.

  5. FFS Give it to Ding dong so he will stay.
FFS dont go to the scarse gits…..N o no no
