Jonny Gould Villa fan and broadcaster has tweeted to say unnamed source has said Moyes has had talks with Villa reps.

RELIABLE SOURCE: unnamed #avfc board representatives have had TWO meetings with #efc’s David Moyes.

@avfcisthebest I can’t reveal my source except that he’s informed. An #avfc player from the eighties who’s still involved in the game.

@EddWalsh @jbarfoot23 @williamhenryson @Mtthwcwn he’s a reliable source but Moyes appointment is far from certain. Approach confirmed #avfc

EDIT 21:25 This was posted by Alranson at tonight’s Lions clubs awards

spoke to ex villa player at awards who confirmed Moyes has had 3 meetings with #avfc directors

  1. My dad spoke to the man who does tax return for Villa and he was saying how a couple of weeks ago Moyes was at the ground and everyone there was talking about how they had seen him. To me this is proof that he has at least been interviewed…

    • My old man said be a city fan and I said bollocks! Your a cunt!!!

Moyes is the man to lead us to that fourth spot!!!!!

  2. Joe, why an earth would they be so obvious to interview Moyes at Villa Park-not very hush hush is it? As much as I would love it to be true I’m afraid its complete nonsense my friend.

  3. I work at Villa Park and have heard nothing or seen him????????

  4. Am I the only one who thinks houllier is a better manager than moyes??!!.. First three signings houllier has made lead me to believe he can be very successful in the transfer Market, I really dont think moyes would be great with lots of money to spend and would make too many MON type signings.. To be honest it doesn’t even matter as he’s not leaving everton any time soon

  5. if this were to be true, then surely mcallister would know that houllier wouldnt be coming back and that he should be worried about his own job? to me he doesnt look concerned at all?

  6. na, i think hes a football man. i cant see the meetings as being true? im convinced houllier will be back next year just toi fall ill again half way through

  7. Well whether it is truth (which i believe it is), I live in hope…

  8. All you have to do is look at Moyes big money spending’s. Yakubu, Beattie, the Russian and so on. Says it all to be honest. To win, you have to spend and Moyes track record of spending big on 1 player is awful. We’ve already tried the cheaper “I won’t spend over 12m on a player” approach. Give me a real manager like Houllier.

  9. i dont work at villa and i dont have any inside info. but i can tell you i aint buying a new season ticket until gh is removed from our club . and the a lot like me trust me he a gonner

    • And I ain’t buying mine if Moyes takes over, and my mates aren’t buying theirs if Hughes takes over, and my sons aren’t buying theirs if GH is sacked and my dad’s bigger than your dad…..

Plenty did not like O’Neill in his last couple of years, many more did not like O’Dreary, and as for 25 years of Deadly….

If you love the club you don’t just desert it. Many, many thousands stuck with the Villa through the old third division and a few years later were rewarded with the fabulous Ron Saunders era.

If Gary f***ing Megson is the next manager I will still be renewing.

I hope everybody who’s going to VP today for this final game of the season will leave any negativity on the forums. Let’s all go and shout ourselves silly against the scousers.

      • I will renew but moving cheaper seat for the record

as for today, it will not be negative will it, doubt few will care about on the field eh ??

  10. moyes is a lot like the paddy but he will do a better job for the villa, for a start he makes subs when needed and he could bring cahill (tim) with him. that alone wud save us a few points. UTV!!!!!

  11. Villa sent a group to Goodison Park early last month and there were cordial handshakes between them and Moyes. This isn’t hearsay, I saw it with my own eyes. I guarantee we will see Moyes at Villa Park next season.

  12. Folks – just a small word of warning about all of these rumours – whether they are about Moyes or any other potential managerial candidate.

There are lots of people who have a financial interest in generating, and spreading, rumours. One of the key groups are gamblers, especially thouse involved in spread betting and who often need to cover their exposure. Be very wary about any “in the know” folks who you haven’t heard of before or who are “friends of a friend”.

If you want to get an overall picture of the current market take a look at:

    http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/aston-villa-specials/next-permanent-manager

But, as someone who turned a significant profit out of Houllier’s appointment, I wouldn’t be prepared to risk any money on Moyes at this time.

    • Mate you have hit the nail on the head.

And it’s not just the bookies who fuel the rumours; if you think that many punters who have ’invested’ money on these odds will then be on the forums and in the newspaper comments sections putting crap into ordinary supporters heads to try and create a self fulfilling prophecy.

And it’s even worse when some of the gamblers hold the position of newspaper journalist or blog owner (not you Ian) or forum administrator because then you see real and relentless agendas and campaigns.

And even if they don’t hold such power, they come on forums like this and claim to know Randy Lerner’s butler or one of the Villa accountants and share ‘private information’ about secret meetings.

      Anyway, got to go now.
