This is going to be a lousy week for Houllier as I think you are going to get all and sundry saying he will be sacked sooner rather than later.
The Sun are running with a story it is Rafa Benitez who will replace him (no time frame)
Someone in one of the comments on post on this blog claims a Sunday paper will run with a story that Fat Sam will replace Houllier as early as next week.
The Sun also carry a story that Houllier has told the players to cut out the chit chat in training and repeated the same story the Daily Mail and was denied today by Brian Doogan about the new rules.
The thing is that some of you may cry foul, cry it is all the London press against us but the fact is we are a massive club in deep trouble and an easy target.
We make for easy copy and better get used to this.
Aston Villa News 24/7
oh and the thick people who say ashley young is shit week after week at villa… hoped you watched the england gane
Looks like he is really beginning to establish himself in the England set-up now. But then again so was Milner this time last season; and now he is only a 10 minute sub.
I dont care how good Young is performing for England because he is not doing it for us week in week out and thats all that matters to me! He has got his heart in playing for England at the moment to get a big move for himself, he will not give a shit when it comes to Everton next game……Hope I am wrong I really do but its just the way I feel at the moment!
Where did he play?
He played on the Right of a front three of Rooney – Bent – Young. Did well out on the wing, no surprise there
GH for Fat Spanish Waiter = Frying Pan and fire in my book
Hope not
Exactly. Every time we change manager we go back to square one. In my opinion, and I’m sure I can find plenty of facts to support this, Benitez is a poor man’s Houllier. Much rather stick with the latter.
Zonal marking anyone? That worked a treat at Liverpool. GH has already said he will phase it out.
Off the subject, but still clashes with the whole GH thing:
Please make a thread about Ashley young and his performances recently.
As many of the villa fans keep asking for him to go and keep saying they are happy for him to leave. But lets be honest, he is a good player and its not down to him how he plays at the villa.
Just from watching his england performace today, in which he played DOWN THE WING, we can see he is a class player. So is getting rid of him really our only option? Or is it down to the fact that GH continually gives him a free role in the villa squad, turning him into this big headed player he is not. If he does leave i can almost garuntee he will be playing down the wing and will be under strict rules as to what he does and doesnt do.
I agree he is better on the wing; but I think he has made it pretty clear he wants to play centrally for Villa.
And if you noticed, he didn’t have strict rules of being on the wing. He was all over the place.
Ye noticed he was on the wing, but also free to roam. I’ve only ever seen him as that type of player and can’t understand his central role when he’s shit at it.
I pray to every god above this isnt true.
But shows up Lerner again as only wanting to go after free agents. Bring back KMAC till the end of the season and then go after moyes….
… its going to be a horrible few weeks.
Moyes won’t leave Everton for us. And why bring KMac back for the Newcastle game, when the team he took up there lost 6-0.
Getting sick of hearing KMAC all the time, he could of had the job but he took so long it showed him to be indecisive. He didn’t exactly do that well either.
hes the only option i can think of that will do it short term. no full time manager should be appointed if they are out of a job at the moment, (which is how randy thinks we will get a good manager)
Moyes will leave everton if finally given money to spend.
hey i dont like kmac, he knocked us our europe for no reason, but at least he played people in their position unlike the frenchcunt
nimrod
Houllier would need to get the sack, what a shambles of a manager. Getting Rafa in would be bad too, the both of them fit nicely into the bracket of stubborn managers who are terrible for team morale and poor football. At least Rafa is a tactician..wish I could say the same for Houllier who I reckon just a mad old man to be honest. Saying it for months…keep him at the club but not as manager!
I don’t believe the rafa link. But I have heard that villa have taken on agent to discreetly find our next manager – no timescales – but basically the club are actively seeking a new manager
Hope the new manager (whenever that maybe) has experience in lower league football !
THIS IS ABSOLUTLEY CRAP ALL WE DO IS KEEP GOING OVER OLD GROUND OTHER SITES AND JUST A FEW ON HERE HAVE THE BELIEVE THAT IF WE WAVE OUR FLAGS OR WOT IS RUMOURED THAT VILLA WILL DISH OUT THE SAID FLAGS AGAINST BLACKBURN THAT WE WILL WIN OR THINGS WILL CHANGE! MMMMMMMMMM……… I,M ALL FOR CHEERING, WAVING OUR FLAGS AND MAKING AS MUCH NOISE AS POSSIBLE TO SPUR THEM ON, WHICH I WILL DO AGAINST EVERTON AND NEWCASTLE. I PUT THAT BANNER UP COS I KNEW WOT WAS GOIN TO HAPPEN (MYSTIC MEG IN DISGUISE) YET AGAIN WERE IN THE SAME POSITION, CALL ME A PESSAMIST BUT WE WILL BE SCREAMING TYPING AND ABUSING GH ALL OVER AGAIN NEXT SATURDAY………….LETS ALL BE UNITED ON LOSING OUR VOICES TILL THE END OF THE NEWCASTLE MATCH AND IF IT DOES,NT GO OUR WAY THEN WE STAY IN VP UNTIL HE GOES …………6 GAMES LEFT PLENTY OV TIME WEN THE CLOUD HAS BEEN LIFTED………I HATE TO SAY THIS COS ALL I WANT IS VILLA TO STAY UP AND BE SUCCESSFUL BUT UNTIL HE GOES WE ARE DOOMED ITS UP TO US TO GET HIM OUT ………..
Maybe we need you to go and then we could all be a lot more positive. Have you thought of it that way around?
please take your banner to every game until he is gone
why dont you just go.
stick your banner up your arse then get it out at the end of the match if you really need to!
Ilson,
I am going to get 100% behind my team in every game between now and the last kick of the season. That is what Villa supporters like me do and (have done for generations) and there are many thousands of us. We stand behind the club through thick and thin; and down the years the fantastic backing at VP has urged the team onto glory and also got it out of trouble.
You have have your own agenda; but that’s your agenda– I watch every home game; I have absolutely nothing in common with you (and I mean nothing, no common goal, nothing-get it?) so don’t you dare try and make out that you have the backing of us all.

well said Dudley
is martin jol available? Anybody?anybody?
Just a quick thought about Houllier, Hope he was watching today, our england WINGER set up our goal machine. Any danger of putting him out there for the rest of the season? Thought he was quality today.
Bozzie I thought Ash was superb today and in the last couple of games he has matured as an international player.
Before he (very predictably) used to get his head down and just run at defenders; now most times he passes the simple ball which means when he does try some trickery they don’t expect it.
When he played last year as soon as an England defender got the ball he would bomb on; now he is generally making himself available, and then picking the right time when to just bomb on behind the full-back.
Capello never used to trust him; that is why he never even made the World Cup squad last year. Now he seems to becoming a big part of the England manager’s plans but then again so was James Milner this time last year; now he is merely a 10 minute sub.

I hope that Milner has had plenty of time to think about his fall from being an automatic choice for club and country to becoming a bit-part player and bench warmer.
What a waste for a player who was always “all go” – when he’s had enough of counting his season’s earnings, perhaps he’ll consider moving somewhere to resurrect his career….
Well he wont be coming back to B6 to play for this idiot we have in charge now and in the Championship

Its been tweeted that a sunday paper will report a major development at the club………………….could it be allardyce in
F**KING HOPE NOT! WILL NOT RENEW MY SEASON TICKET IF THAT HAPPENS! NO F**KING WAY……………….An appointment like this will have wasted the last 5 years of RL ownership, the club will be back where it started mid table/fighting relegation (hoping that this season is a one off?????)!
The appointment of Houllier has already wasted the past 5 years of Lerners ownership.
We are now on a par with the final season of O’Leary. Houllier is about as popular as he was and has got about as much chance of turning it around at Villa as O’Leary has got getting another job in England.
We have 8 gamnes left and he has fallen out with over 50% of the first team, these players know they wont be here next season so why will they bother to put a shift in for Houllier, they will all get good moves to Premiership sides if we go down and we will be left to rot in the championship. We had 2 players starting up front for England and yet we still couldnt score in a brothel.
50%??? that’s when I stopped reading. People do say some awful twaddle. He can still turn it around, he just has a big job to do. It would be a nice start if he stopped playing Young in the hole.
We only didn’t score in our last league game too by the way. We scored six in the two league games before that.
It could also be argued that some of MON’s policies, and the fact he walked out on the club is the more realistic waste of Lerner’s first 5 years.
In fact Derek everything you say is a bit sensationalised. I’m coming round to the being frustrated with Houllier POV a little bit, I sympathize with it, but I do think a lot of people are expressing grass is always greener philosophy. Quite often these are sensationally expressed which makes the argument become silly. We all argue silly points over and over on here.
Houllier is not a moron, he is not clueless, but I am willing to go with the idea that he has not made things easy on himself, and also that he might have been better off easing certain ideas in more slowly and play a system more suited to the players.
Then I only say that because I think he should play Gabby and Bent upfront, and that’s me thinking the grass is always greener there too. No system we could have played would have given us a full defense against Bolton or Wolves, or stopped the decimation by injuries in the Autumn/Winter.
Petrov, Warnock, Dunne, Collins, Carew, Ireland, Luke Young and Agbonlahor are all reported to have issues with him, it might be bang on 50% but its a bloody lot of players!
The grass would be greener without him, because it couldnt get much worse! WOW we scored 4 against an abysmal Blackburn and scored 2 and lost at Bolton hardly a great return really.
His tactics are poor, he consistently plays players out of position and has disrespected the fans more than once.
I could go on but its obvious Houllier isnt the man for the job at Villam and before you start I was prepared to give him time and did until the Manchester City debacle
Friedel also denied it. The idiots who said they have problems have no quotes, Friedel has quotes.
and they are VERY CAREFULLY scripted as well, almost like he was given them ….
notice most of the so called trouble makers were not here due to international week and Freidel’s words referenced that
So you are calling Friedel a liar; there can be nothing in between he is either telling the truth or telling lies.
27 March 2011. Brad Friedel insists there are no new rules in place at Villa Park and laughed off suggestions he is in revolt against Gerard Houllier. He says the players are fully focused on guaranteeing Premier League survival not rebelling against the Villa boss.
