We know how bad the defence are playing and yet for this game there may a shock return for Warnock, when you look at the available defenders and we will play 4 at the back, is there a choice ?

Dunne – injured
Clark – suspended
Lichaj – Out on loan (24 hour recall)
Collins – Cuellar says it is unlikely he would make it
So that leaves
Walker – defo starter
Cuellar – defo starter but little recent game time
Baker – defo starter at CB has no one else
then we have the LB
simply is there anyone else, if Houllier did not want to play Warnock he could always play NRC at RB and move Walker to LB but that would negate I suspect the attacking role Houllier wants him to have. We have only one more LD at the club it seems and that is the kid Deeney who has barely played reserve games.
So it will be a return for Warnock for a manager he does not like and if true a club and city he hates. His recent form was abysmal (he is quality) and what motivation would he have for this game after being shoved to play with the reserves ?
A massive risk (never mind the fan reaction towards him) for Houllier to make but lets face it, there is no real choice is there ?

He will be way off match fit and even when he was match fit his speciality was giving free kicks away on the edge of our own area – given we can’t defend set pieces and Wolves get most of thier goals from set pieces – not good……………..

Have to agree that rather losing than playing Warnock is idiotic. I see a 2-1 victory myself for the Villa. Somehow Warnock if he wants to leave will have to put some good performanes in or he’ll be staying, so can’t see him being that much of a liability.
Teams are lining up to get him even when he hasn’t played, Pool and Stoke and such. I think he’s more playing for payment at those clubs, show that he can do well so that he can get paid more.
May as well ply him as we are going to lose anyway.

yep i stand by what i said ,sorry to dissapoint any of you but true villa fan here, been going since 1964 season ticket holder with my son,anyone who knows me knows and will tell you the passion ive got for our club.what im saying and will always say in such circumstances is if anyone shows such contempt and disrepect for the club,then theyshould never play for the club again .im not for one moment saying lets lose games but definately id not play that particular player again,and ill tell you something else ive read many of you over the years(not necessarily on this site) saying how good ron saunders was well he wouldnt be playing again under him and thats for sure
bale, you are bang on. Don’t agree with the ‘rather lose’ bit, but what you say about any player disrespecting the club is exactly right. GH strikes me as an old school manager like Fergie or Saunders as you said. Personally, I think that a very good thing.
