Up to a few games ago I thought we played better with Young in the team, regardless of his faults. However nowadays he is a liability, he has become a real bighead, forever falling over or diving, constantly loses the ball when played up to him and stands there complaining instead of chasing back, and I reckon we will have to wait until Easter before we see a decent cross!!!

Sell Ash for £18-20m. By NZogbia for £10m and Scott Sinclair for £2m – 4 good wide players and real options. Use the balance plus, hopefully, £5m or so from the sale of Ireland to bring in a good attacking CM to play off Bent. Milner would be ideal!

N’Zogbia is extremely talented, but mentally he’s not all there. Richardson’s a good player but with the whole Bent saga… I think another Sunderland player is out of the thoughts of Villa for a while.

I have a theory that the plan may be to massage A Young’s ego until he signs a new contract and then let him go for a much higher bid. I may be wrong, either way I think GH will have a plan for life with or without him.
Where I have more confidence now than with our former manager is the ability of GH and his scouting staff to spend wisely the money resulting from any sale.

We know Ash is good , but he isn’t great? He should have had a goal yesterday and thats been the story of his season. He just has not scored the chances hes been given or made during our games and thats a huge disappointment. Going to United or any other team will not make him better and as with Milner may look back at his playing days at Villa as the best chance he had at becoming a real star. You would think these players would learn that lesson ? Ryan Giggs is a great example.

We can manage without Ash, I think – and with our very own product too; Albrighton. It may even be for the best. He seems much more lively than Ash when he is on the pitch. Bent can execute our penalties. I’d say Downing and Albrighton on the flanks, Bent and Gabby up front. Maybe with another striker pushing for a place. The Fonz?
I really do question people on here. Sell Young and get 1-2 wingers… When Young doesn’t even play on the wing and we have 3 (including Gabby) that are playing on the wing and no one to replace Young in the middle… And yet people said O’Neill wasted money. Wow.

I know Gabby’s not a winger, but he’s being played as one. With 2 other wingers that can start and Young NOT playing as a winger, why would we sell him and get 2 more wingers and yet NOT cover Young’s position.
Though I still do question the sale due to the fact if Downing (who’s been very poor recently) and Albrighton (who like Downing is hardly threatening anymore) get injured, what cover is there? Bannan’s not a winger and we all know Gabby’s not a winger (though what position is he?)

I cant help but think that this formation would destroy! apart from being a little weak in the right deffensivley. the fonz is a play maker and a goal scorer that goes with out saying. we need some one like that in a CAM to link with bent and gabby. we have good subs in banan and culleur. so i dont see any reason we couldnt do without ash. look at liverpool they look like they have freed up about since torres left. torres was holding the likes of mierless back. i can see albrighton and fonz realy benifiting from youngs departure!

Young is a quality player no doubt but you need to look at the bigger picture! he will be gone in the summer that i am sure of and maybe downing too, so houllier will no doubt have quality replacements lined up, players come and go and it will always be a case of our best players will leave for bigger clubs FACT.
Come the start of next season i think our starting line up will be looking a whole lot different to what it is now but i am looking forward to see what houllier can put together. UP THE VILLA….
I like Ashley and am grateful for all that he has done in a Villa shirt, but now is the time to move him on. I’d do a deal with Spurs and swap him for Walker plus £5 million. Selling Ashley is the right move for all parties. With the right signings in the summer Villa will be back up at the right end of the table, exciting the fans and challenging for trophies.
Walker who can hardly defend and 5m? That’s it. I get he’s only going to have 1 year left but that’s far too little for our most important player.
If that is a deal we have to do we should be asking £12m plus Walker and Krancjar

Definitely agree, but I think Kranjcar has earned his spot now. Even if he didn’t score them 2 winners, he’s been playing brilliantly.
How any one can think we would be better off with Young is a joke. We lose him this summer and we are just another small time selling club getting players ready for the big clubs.
