SPECULATION : Richard Dunne’s version of events

Yesterday I posted a piece from VT with a facebook entry describing some of the issues Houllier faces. today also VT I will post a version of events as from Richard Dunne’s point of view.

Before continuing usual warning

PLEASE TREAT WITH EXTREME SCEPTICISM

Gaztonvilla on VT posted this piece below explaining point of view from Dunne’s side. He also has close links to Ireland if you followed the Milner saga and is a trusted ITK on VT.

Richard Dunne has been made a scapegoat by many and if you read Robbie Fowler’s autobiography he said he suffered the same under houllier with secret briefings. Is this the truth below or was yesterday’s, you call it ….

I have to step in here and defend him a bit.

Rich injured his knee in training before the Rep of Ireland friendly vs Argentina in the week before the PL kicked off. It never fully recovered but he continued to play regularly, at the request of management, with the aid of painkilling injections. He has NOT been training fully, taking part in approx 50% of sessions.

He has been sitting out the fitness based elements of the training, in order to allow his knee to settle down. It has been badly swollen after every game he’s played in. The frustration he was feeling was that there was too much focus on fitness training (which he was unable to take part in) without any sufficient emphasis on the technical/tactical part of the game, specifically defending.

My understanding is that Rich was only able to take part in certain amounts of 8-a-side matches in training where the emphasis was always on ball retention and passing. He was frustrated that, when he was taking part in training, there was no training on the defending of set pieces or other defensive tactics.

He was frustrated that he was agreeing to play in games, to the detriment of his injury, but felt he and his defensive colleagues were not being properly prepared for those games. If he was going to play with an injury, he felt, there should be at least some preparation which would make them best able to defend not just pass the ball along the back line.

So, to sum up, he can’t train to improve his fitness because of his injury. He’s playing with an injury in a defensive unit which is ill prepared. He felt he was going into the game with a double handicap – poor fitness and poor technical preparation.

  1. no matter the quality of training in dunnes opinion,he should just shut up and do it, simple!! injuries aside just do it, that goes for all ploayers, as we speak, houllier is the manager and he should be respected. if this isnt happening i totally agree with what he is doing, freeze them out and try and flog them on!!!!! if we refused to do our jobs at work id be sacked without question.

  2. GREAT NEWS! SSN understands that Aston Villa are going to bid for Mahamadou Diarra at Real Madrid in January!!!

Now that would be a signing and half! If Houllier can get Diarra, Fofana, Keane (who else is available?), Weidenfeller and a decent centre back (Lescott? – He has supported Villa after all since he was 5!) in then I am all for him staying as manager.

COME ON VILLA! LETS SORT THIS MESS OUT! NO MORE WAITING AROUND WITH TRANSFER WINDOWS! GET IN FIRST AND GET THE BEST AVAILABLE!

  3. sky are sayiing we are in for Madrids diarra now?

    • That would be a fantastic signing!

    • It says Everton are considering a bid too, but they have no money so clearly they are looking to loan him. I’m sure Madrid would rather money for a sale. Open up that cheque book Randy!!!

      • He would be an amazing signing.
        UTV

      • think the wage issue would be a problem for both of us, fee would be small you would imagine, IF true does this mean no Makoun ?

        • presumably one or the other depends on whether he fancies NRC really; if not could be both. Be nice to sign someone with class and technical ability and look at this players coming (allegedly, strongly with fofana) at the start of window not at 11.55….. Salifou

          • NRC is 100% off for me

and Fofana 10% certain to be concluded tomorrow

            http://twitter.com/TimothyAbraham

            • i’m split on NRC; like his effort and work-rate, not his distribution but if we replace him with better ok, but they have to be better. Link is interesting, looks like it might happen imminently. Fofana looks good but the French league is not one i follow that intensely

              • Not sure he was making much of an effort on Tuesday he was supposed to be marking Lescott for the 2nd goal and he walked back in to position when the third was scored. Somebody posted on here on Tuesday that he hardly made a tackle, which is the only attribute he has to his game and as he has not signed a contract he hardly seems comitted. Let him go! He will certainly not get what he thinks he is worth at any other club

                • i haven’t brought myself to watch man city yet (going to in a min.) But if thats his attitude let him go, spot on it is his only attribute.

Really stupid though if it’s true he thinks he is destined for man u or arsenal yet he finds passing 5 yards difficult.

  4. Mamadou Diarra is class and would be a serious statement of intent if we get him Jean Makoun and Gueida Fofana as expected all for the less than £10m I would say what a great piece of business. I sincerely hope he add’s 2 strikers to the list like Roque Santa Cruz & Bendtner I would be ecstatic a few loans would also be welcomed and from what I have seen of Omar Cummings he could be a cheap jewel in the future.

  6. Samba, Diarra, Fofana, Cummings and we are much stronger.
