Mixed bag tonight with the People and NOTW claiming player unrest stories and McGeady incoming with Ash outgoing.
When you consider he was in my view part of the reason MON would come this link for unsettled McGeady does not seem true and not likely to be.
It did totally shock me that Cuellar was starting because prior to the teams was being announced it seemed dunne would start, so now the NOTW (behind paywall) says he was involved in a major bust up.
RICHARD DUNNE has been involved in an amazing training ground bust-up with Gerard Houllier and Gary McAllister
In front of the stunned Villa players Dunne let rip at what he believes is an unpro- fessional approach to top-class players.
Shocked coach McAllister, who was taking the session as Houllier watched on the sidelines, was left speechless by the sheer venom of Dunne’s attack.
In between expletives, Dunne claimed that the training was “a joke” and that their tactics were “desperate”.
Dunne has the complete support of the dressing- room following the remarkable scenes that took place just after midday.
The former Manchester City defender has not been impressed with the approach of Houllier and McAllister.
Some of the players claim Houllier is unable to form effective relationships with his squad and has already alientated himself.
IF this is true it would explain a lot as we speculated all is not right and if true then Dunne HAS to go surely ?
The ironic thing is of course that all this was alleged to have happened with MON.
The People have two stories in one. first they like the NOTW claim player unrest and on Wednesday the players had a clear the air meeting behind Houllier’s back. Also they say Man U are ready to bid £20m for Ash Young.
Aston Villa News 24/7
Ian why was it a total shock to you that Carlos started?
On Thursday GH said, on the OS, “We’ve won three games with him – Blackburn, Wolves and Burnley.”
Surely, with those words and the way we’d been defending it was obvious that now he was fit, Carlos was in with a chance of starting.
Well Well Well!
It seems only a week ago we all wanted GH & GM OUT from villa park ! now it seems all the players want them gone as well ! Or is it Dunne is just a FAT lazy ass that cant handle all the extra fitness training !
I hope we dont sell A.young i think he played great on Sat not fantastic but great ! and i think if we do want to keep him at the club maybe we should hand him the arm band ! from what i saw ash was very very vocal telling players what to do and were to be
Think we sold barry then milner and now A.young going ! what next Bannan and albright ! we just cant afford to let are players go like this ! something at Villa park needs to change. Why do are players want to leave when they play every single week ! Milner wanted to go to man city knowing he would not play every week yet he still went !
But yeh something has to Give at some point. ever the players that dont agree will be out or GH leaves think about it witch one do you really want. Because in Jan he will sell all the players that dont agree with his methods witch seems to be everyone !
The tactics are rubbish, negative football, Houllier is the joke! Why do we have so many injuries.
Freidel was on R5 earlier and hardly denied the bust up and confirmed the other story that the players had a meeting with and without the managerial staff
all he said was
‘never saw anything’
i dont know what to say really i thought things maybe be turning around erm yeh !!! never mind
maybe the bust up was needed, we saw different tactics especially in the 2nd half, deeper back line, not so much arsing around at the back
maybe too much was previously held back
Feiedel was on taslksport today saying the players were to blame for the bad run not Gerard houllier.
http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/3660/1/exclusive-friedel-villas-poor-form-down-players-not-manager
And he “never saw anything,” is good enough for me.
the Wenger defence
It appears that the players are feeling as frustrated as most Aston Villa fans at present but if the actions of the senior players (dunne et al) are effecting the performances of the rest of the lads on the pitch then it cannot continue. I will never leap to the defence of Gerard Houllier after his Anfield shenanigans but do realise that if the board are insisting on backing the manager then the senior players need to swallow their pride and work with him for the good of Aston Villa FC. We will NEVER get out of this poor run of form if the staff and players are at loggerheads.
Cousin, tbf there is no substantiated report of the senior players falling out with the manager. Just the claims of NOTW that Dunne had a tantrum in training and further claim that he had the backing of all the senior players (no names)
Albrighton has said Houllier is ‘brilliant.’ Freidel has been on talksport today saying Houllier was not to blame for the bad run and that he did not see any incident in training.
Just before O’Neill left, The Mirror claimed Dunne had a bust with him in training and he demanded they were allowed to play with a football now and again. The same report said all the senior players dubbed the then coaches ‘bibs’ and ‘cones’ and the ‘two charlies.’ It went on to say that O’Neill had said to the players that he knew they all hated him.
Let Dunne go if he’s not happy. He had a great season last year but he is looking very dodgy lateley. Cualler and Clark can easily step up and either form a partnership together or with Collins. No player bigger than club . He ain’t no Paul Mcgrath !!
Dunne has gone back to his old form…..shocking. Sling him out & give the new gaffer and the kids a chance. Rome wasnt built in a day (sigh)
which old Dunne form is that, the form where he got 4 player of the season awards running and would have got that at villa if not Milner
Ash is over rated, fuck him off if he’s not willing to commit the tosser!
haha couldnt give **** what dunne thinks hes crap anyway
Read Robbie Fowlers autobiography and you’ll realise how bad Houllier treats his players. I’ll never forget when he blamed David Ginolla for France not getting to the World Cup 94 when he was the national manager when he was France’s star player.
Always the first to blame everyone else.
Read Jamie Carraghers autobiography and you’ll get another view of how Houllier treats his players….
As well as Carragher, Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen still give him massive praise for the influence he had on their careers one and off the pitch.
And the other week Albrighton said on Talksport that Houllier has been ‘brilliant’ with him.
In the light of the alleged bust-up, Houllier has come out today and said he is there to make decisions and he is there to please the fans not the players.
Some fans seem to think Dunne may have been dropped because of training ground tantrum. I think it might be the other way round.
The younger players have revealed that the team selection and formation is generally known a couple of days in advance. With Houllier hinting about Carlos on the OS (published on Thursday,) it is possible, Dunne (and Ireland) knew they had been dropped and so decided to show a bad attitude.
[...] SPECULATION : McGeady, Ash to Man U & Dunne in huge bust up Mixed bag tonight with the People and NOTW claiming player unrest stories and McGeady incoming with Ash outgoing. [...] [...]
Ah, the idiot brigade is back. “Dunne sucks”… Didn’t say that last season now did you? “Young’s overrated” Weren’t saying that when we missed him against Liverpool now were you? The genius “Villa fans” really make the true fans look sad… But, every fan base has them.
Very well said ! It was clear we missed ash against L’pool and it was very clear he performed well on Sat and was very vocal with the Captains Band and i think he should be made Captain !
Young cannot cross and is not as good as some fans believe. However, he is still a very good dribbler and can shoot, glad Houllier has moved him into the centre as i believe once he has settled he will prove effective in this role.
I also think stalling on his contract is not good for morale amongst fans and players alike.
Dunne was fantastic for us last year but has struggled with a more tactical game, I have and always will rate him, but the writing is on the wall and he will be edged out. No player is bigger than Aston Villa football club and i think we have a manager who will prove that in time
Mcgeady link, MON (The Fraud) has now left cheap journalism, Houllier has taken on a scout who is scouting the globe for players nearing the end of there contract or are free agents. On a website today we have been linked to B. Leverkusens GK for free. He is the reason they are top of the league and his contract ends in the summer, he is also keen on a move to the Prem and is apparently very good. I like Friedl but we do need a replacement as Guzan is not good enough
I want to know before last weeks media circus and over reaction (How would you react returning to a place where you nearly died and the staff saved your life) to what happened at Anfield who he was going to scout in France.
I meant Dortmund
