Transfer news and speculation : Pires, Young and JPA

A bit of transfer news today which is no real shock and some speculation to keep us warm.

First welcome to Robert Pires. The rumours started a couple of weeks ago and back then we had options, now a short term contract makes sense if it helps to develop the likes of Albrighton and Bannan. Doubt he would start many games but the odd 20 minutes here and there may prove to be useful. What this means for the future of Ireland with now Pires there and Bannan and Young in the way we shall see.

Talksport spread rumours around that Arsenal will sign Ashley Young in the winter. They partly base this on they say just one year left of his contract, this is not true and Ash said himself he would give it until the summer then we can all reassess the situation. To lose Ash in the winter would be a demoralising blow.

Finally Villa old boy Juan Pablo Angel has been released by Red Bull in the States. I was never a massive fan of his but you do wonder if he could play a few games at Villa until we can get a forward in the summer. Same situation as Pires in many ways and walk back to VP if you read his Twitter, loves the place.

  1. Pires is hoping to play this weekend. Guess you people are terribly wrong on when a Free Agent can play. They can sign and play at anytime during the season.

  2. He did have good song though and that’s part way there!! we do need another striker, Too soon for Fonz and I am not convinced so far – I remember the hope that the Moore brothers presented and that never materialised so I think we need to take some pressure of him in terms of expectations.
Gabby is great but not sure about him an Ash together and the inconsistency of Carew and Heskey is just too frustrating.
Just for the record I am not for JPA coming back but do like the link of Benzema on a loan deal
